I just moved here to Albany in Dougherty. my step dad got a job at miller coors. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. I actually walked down to see this. Its nice.
Just want to let everyone know I appreciate the comments. The music that was on my original video - that came from the park and on my video camera from the public park, has been taken off youtube. That's why there is other music on the video now to replace it. Supposedly an infringement, but since the music was in the public park streaming from the sculpture in real life, I would think it should have been ok.
i do have to say that i am proud of the city of albany cleaning up what was becoming a mess and turning there downtown area into a nicer pace..its good to see peoples tax money isn't going to waste..good job you guys :-)

albany, georgia. i was born and raised there. sadly i had to move for my mother's job. my father still lives there and owns a restaurant. albany is so nice. i actually in the suburbs but i consider it still albany. every1 was so nice and everything. lived there for 11 years. the ray charles memorial is beautiful. sadly they've taken down the little bronze statue becuase of vandalism. and yes someone did put soap in the fountain and it overflowd. such a beautiful town past all the gangs and trash

The tribute was given due to all the funds Ray Charles gave to Albany State right before he passed away, I think it was a million dollars, he deserves this and much more!
It is a cool memorial, but I think Albany could have invested money somewhere else to try and save Downtown. I have to say the river side is looking very nice.

Man, I do miss Albany at times; I went to ASU. I had some good times there with my friends I met at school who are all from that (well south ga area)
