Jim Rome Announcing that Travis Rodgers is leaving the Show

I don't think Travis was Fired. What happened was his contract wasn't renewed by the Owners. Now Jim could have said okay I'll leave the station and the XR4Ti can find a New home, but the Needs of the Many outweighs those of the few. Travis was a funny mofo though, and Kyle isn't a producer is he? I thought thats what J-Stew does?

Travis was fired & Rome saying it on air was first he knew of his firing. Rome is an idiot & same old same old shit these days Travis has a bad ass show here in Houston on 1560 The Game & Sporting News Radio, weekdays 3-7.

It's getting more and more obvious that Travis was replaced by Kyle Brandt to connect with a "hipper," "younger" crowd. Travis is on a sports radio show in Houston that is independently run. I'm sure you will hear more about him in the near future, as it is gaining steam. Definitely a messy divorce, though, from his opinions on the current state of the Jim Rome Show.

@theabevigoda Doesn't really make much sense, considering the show's become so PC, and it seems like all Rome does anymore is talk about his horsies and look for the next B-list ass to kiss. The show went from jokes about starting the Cockfighting Association of America to talking about sipping gin with some Real World douchebag and watching your pretty pony at the racetrack. Devoting an entire show to hobbies you share with their drunk grandfather isn't a good way to get a young audience.

Hard to believe a guy who got his own "This Is Your Life" show for his 10th anniversary with the show gets an "Oh by the way, Travis is leaving" send-off. Oh and J-Stew, Rome showed precisely how little he thinks of you by passing over you for a guy who'd been with a show for a year and a half.

Been listening to Travis' show on podcast or streaming and happy to have the funny sports takes the way they are meant to be. Bad move cutting him loose Van Smack.

travis stated on his show that he was fired cause they (rome) didn't think he was funny enough or he was lacking for what the show needed. sounded like he didn't see it coming. he was replaced by kyle brandt, lol, and ever since then that show has gone downhill. travis now has his own syndicated show on sporting news radio from 3-7 central time (Travis Rodgers Now). love his show, check it out and you'll become a fan.

Rodgers has his own radio show on 1560 The Game here in Houston.... Its a midday show, that goes right up against Jim Rome (on Sports Radio 610). Its a knockoff of Jim Rome, but it is quite entertaining and I usually listen to it instead of Rome.

@My96XJ Go to stucknut and check out this recently posted interview: Pooldoc interviews Travis Rodgers on Boatie Unleashed. Travis basically said that Jim began to no longer respect his opinions over the period of several months, and it got to the point where he didn't respect T-Rodge's opinions at all. In essence, at that point, Jim fired Travis. Even Travis Rodgers couldn't fully explain why he got canned, which further demonstrates the ridiculousness of it all.

The Jungle's been going downhill since Travis left. Rome is still good at giving his take but what made the show unique was the humor. It's just not funny anymore. Even so, I'll still take Rome over Cowherd anyday.

yeah that seems really wierd, to do a send off like that for someone who has been there for so long. Things definetely didnt end well, and they are just window dressing. Jim knows that t-rog cant just vanish and I think everyone probrably wants to avoid making waves. I think its wierd KB has taken such a promenient role so quickly and the quality of the texts and emails is becoming a problem. I bet you we will see someone else go in the next 6 months.

Well I AM THE mike in wichita and from what Joe in the OC told me they simply wanted fresh new blood and Trav was just spinning his wheels. We all know rome READS every thought he is given by the producer. I find it wierd though---the show is changing directions and there are all these NEW workers and the whole format is changing----gay ass week in review...triple u is triple gay..etc etc.

This was pretty bizarre considering what Travis has meant to that show. Rome mentions it in a 10 second snipit only to then immediately pimp JRiB & the next day's jungle like Travis leaving was an "oh, by the way....." type thing. I don't know what happened between them, but the way Rome talked about it seemed really weird.
