  • I love King Crimson. On all the goddamned King Crimson videos, the people are talking about The Mars Volta. I don't like these guys at all. :(

  • on the drums?????

  • @TAODRUMERLONG Thomas Pridgen!! :D

  • Mars Volta fans who also like Jazz.... I've uploaded some tracks from Adrian Gonzalez Terrazas jazz album debut Cu Taan

  • IT LACKS A HUMAN PULSE!!!!

  • humans as orniments in the dimension of time

  • Frusciante on guitarrrrr

  • what cuz?

  • The tags saved my day.

Some sort of making the world better, huh ;)

  • My FAVORITE song of the TMV album!! i have an acoustic cover of take the veil from de-loused if you would care to listen..fellow TMV fans !! :)

  • Such a great song, 9/10!

  • Thank FUCK this band exists to carry the torch. Every generation has the same themes of whiny, horny, violent, etc. that are force-fed to the public by "the industry", but behind all the plastic are bands writing real music and gathering life-long fans. All these comments reveal an uncanny similarity to the fan base is of Rush - people who love them are fanatics. Other people try but don't get it. And then there are those who "don't like the guy's voice". But the music is AWESOME.

  • preach on brotha!

  • haha ive never seen that first pic.

  • That said, I'll also say I've listened to "De-Loused..." and "Frances the Mute" several times through and enjoyed them immensely. However, every other song I've heard by them sounds like it could be an out-take from those two cds. Their sound is cool, but in my opinion they should try something other than "everybody play as loud as you can all at once without regard to what anybody else is playing while Cedric squeals and jumps around," because that's what it sounds like is happening here.

  • The Mars Volta is cool, but they still suck compared to ATDI. ATDI combined the experimental noisy stuff with radio-friendlier song structures. Given the choice, I'd trade all the Mars Volta stuff for one more ATDI album. On the other hand, I don't know of any other band that sounds like them, so they're good in that respect. The only problem is that their, um, loose approach to song structure leads to a lot of their songs, sorry, sounding the same, especially when taken out of album context

  • En esta canción colabora JOhn Frusciante!!!para mí, el guitarrista más carismático de los ultimos tiempos

  • they are just AMAZING GROUP

  • tons of people keep telling me they like these guys, i don't understand it. I've tried to like it but i can't see the appeal

  • Your a dumb ass Atdi is a different style then TMV Omar and Cedric were going for a Pink Floyd style ATDI are Alt Punk Rock

  • yo man as with all music some are gonna dig it and some aren't gonna dig it but we all look at it and understand it differently. who's to say what's good or not? you? cause you have a degree? cause you dont? just enjoy what you have to and so will everybody else. peace man peace

  • music can be technically good, music technicality is based in fact so you can always say a band sucks because they really might. Also their cultural influence and standing show if they really matter.

  • ATDI made solid tracks.. TMV was exciting at the start, but now I think they're making very personal tracks for odd audiophiles; It's definitely not something you would listen to when chilling out with friends or so

  • ATDI was kinda mainstream, and way too simple, TMV is about taking music to its higher levels :)

  • I don't find technical music appealing just for the sake of being technical.. But I think Omar got tons of talent that he could be using, most of his solo work is amazing... I can't get enough of early Mars Volta, like Tremulant EP or when they played Roulette Dares at Big Day Out: watch?v=K38qtuXM4gE

  • i agree somewhat..... to the tremulant part... but i think jazz has an atmosphere other genres dont capture, and thats because of the technical side like changing of modes in songs and the improvisation of solos and what not!!!!1

  • So what you're saying is that a band that make songs that sometimes are songs over 16 minutes are going for easy demographic.

Yes that makes sense(not really, but whatever).

Okey, you have the right to your opinion, but there is no need to be an asshole about it.

  • This song fills me with such energy that I just can't explain.

  • Maybe music for IT nerds presses your interior buttons? KIng Crimson played by the kids that not only didn't get picked at games but even got kicked out of the Chess Club for being too creepy .

  • What the hell kind of shit are talking about? You must be fucked up in the head buddy.

  • think you're probably better off with a christina agueilera music video sunbeam11 you dont seem to be able to comprehend real music

  • Actually, kingfuse, while sunbeam's comment is nothing but mudslinging about people he doesn't and will never get (translation - he's probably knocking on 50 and is a cranky curmudgeon), it is you who does not comprehend real music if you can post that kind of response to a King Crimson reference. Do a little research about them, maybe even listen to a few songs, and you might realize that The Mars Volta evolved from the likes of King Crimson and other bands from the true golden age of rock.

  • my mom saw these yahoos probably 10 years ago! back when ATDI was ruling...

i had tickets to the show..... my mom called me and said some musicians invited her to the show from the bar! she was 50 at the time.... and it was atdi.... too funny

  • lol did she bone the band?

  • weird band. but i love weird bands. (by the way dont go crazy on me. i just started to listen to them)

  • Comment removed

  • listen to cassandra gemini.. its 32 minutes of funky weird awsome shit

  • i love them so so so very much..

  • fuck este video esta con madre y la rola kon madre

  • the intro is the best lol

  • Now this is music, passionate funky beautiful music.

  • They are some sik ass musicians! The drummer wooooh my respects

  • This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Amazing replay value.

  • My friend is right, they really did go off the deep end on this one! The tune is not their best track, but the lyrics are great.

  • Absolutly lovely. I NEED THIS ALBUM IN MY LIFE.

  • Ok aside from sounding like a complete noob, I have just started to get into Mars Volta and I think they are fucking amazing. Does anyone have any other suggestions of shit to listen to that could be on this level or that I may like? And no I don't need any responses like "Mars Volta is all you Fucking need" and stupid shit like that.

  • You could try The Fall of Troy

  • the sound of animals fighting (everyone draws similarities between the two, check out their latest album)

sgt. (instrumental, but elements of them remind me of TMV)

the fall of troy (again, everyone draws similarities between the two)

portugal. the man (similar vocals i guess, but a great band none the less)

the dear hunter (kind of like The Mars Volta light lol)

Personally i don't really think any of these bands come that close sound wise, TMV are very unique, but thats all i could think of atm

  • listen to De-loused do it

  • the cat empiere are quiet good and similar...

  • Beardfish , Three , Coheed and Cambria

  • As far as modern acts go, Id most liken them to tool. Id say allot of their roots are in progressive rock so your best bet would be to give the prog rock acts that originated in the 60's-70's a listen. King crimson, yes and genesis are the first that come to mind. Prog rock is pretty hard-access music, it requires repeated and repeated listenings to even begin to appreciate. Given the time and open ears im sure you'll find these acts on equal if not higher "level" than the mars volta

  • Children of Nova, Zechs Marquise & El Grupo Nuevo De Omar Rodriguez Lopez

  • I love this band

  • fucking love this song!!!!!! heard em live in brixton few years ago it was perfection!

  • haha this is a sample of a song, and its still over 4 1/2 minutes long

    11 minute songs kick ass.

  • Who thinks this song is fuckin great

  • fucking second that! and Omar at 0:24..damn-anyone look like Omar??

  • oh my god i know i totally wanna draw that

  • if you do,i wanna see somehow someway

  • the mars volta are artists, is just that simple

  • i love them.. wicked sexy dark and wild.

  • those are the best adjetives ive heard describe this band.

  • De-loused Wins. Televators, Concertina, Son et lumiere+Inertiatic ESP are epic tracks. Plus they are great live tracks. but don't get me wrong i still love their other albums.

  • You're talking about awesome songs on De-loused and didn't mention Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt?

  • I agree, DeLoused was certainly their most melodic album, they seem to become increasingly more experimental as they continue to evolve...regardless, I love all of their work.

  • Concertina isnt on deloused my friend.

  • alucinante,viceras y corazones volando sobre ti

  • that intro blew me away.

  • if you dont like them thats it contie with your fuking life 10th chance wtf niggah just go find some other lil gay shit

  • lol what is your favorite band

  • ya dude this is meccamputechture whatever sweet video

  • One of my favorite songs by them

  • I think this song is mistitled... Amputechture is the album, the song is Meccamputechture.

  • look a the description. I made this back when amputechture wasn't out. It was meant as a teaser.

  • My bad, didn't read it. Sorry! :)

  • lol, seriously some of the lyrics dont make sense...UNLESS YOUR BRAIN IS FRIED FROM TOO MUCH ACID! then it all makes perfect sense...

really though, its fine that they dont always seem coherent, thats not the problem. the problem is know-it-all arseholes pretending that they have it all figured out. it doesnt have to make sense!

the music itself is enough to keep me listening, the imagery the lyrics evoke make it that much more entertaining!

  • great sound guys, no need for violence references. it;s done. so the tenth ritual. wow what a finally band since grateful dead and phish reunited and peaches and herb

  • Fucking music geeks.... why do they have to be so BLATANTLEY better than everyone else...

  • because they can :)

  • i love The Mars Volta!! yo amo Omar Rodriguez-Lopez !.<

  • at 1:07 how is that stance possible?

  • I see you've never taken a Physics class.

  • I think he was just leaping. It looks like his feet is off the floor.

  • omar kinda reminds me of frank zappa

  • so true. its the whole hair and prog rock thing.

  • is John frusciante playing this guitar?

  • Ostrasize, step away from The Mars Volta and go listen to your new Kelly Clarkson album.

  • "they needed those locks

    of dirty red hair

a necklace of follicles with sabertooth monocles

they want a bouquet of black rose gems

    castrating kisses stalactite stems"

seems to be random words put together.

  • put your poetry goggles on, and it starts to make sense.

  • XD nice one

  • Funny, "seems to be random words put together" seems to be random words put together.

No shit they're random words, every sentence you've ever heard or said is random words put together. Luckily, even random follows an algorithm.

  • Err. Not really. Random doesn't follow an algorithm. The only "random" idea that follows an algorithm is randomly generated numbers from a computer, but those aren't truly random. Random words would mean they were devoid of syntax, but what he said, and all sentences that make SENSE, aren't random at all.

  • "Random" doesn't exist at all. Unexpected, perhaps, but not random. In fact, if you can name me ONE random thing, then prove it to be random, I will mail you all the money I have.

  • I'm sure I could go on wikipedia and prove a point, but I don't really feel like it. I'm just glad you saw things my way and, subsequently, the error of your previous comment.

  • How's about in terms of genetics. Random mutations which account for genetic variation. Randomness is a lack of order, purpose, cause, or predictability by definition and if you think you can predict point mutations and think they are meant to have purpose each time then you're a fool. Now about that money ;-)Awesome band btw, they were incredible as at the drive in and are still as the mars volta! singing's better now too!

  • darpy butt is random

  • quantum fluctuations in the void.

  • This and Tetragrammaton are the best songs on Amputechture.

  • un buen churro y the mars volta

    yeahh!!

  • OSTRASIZE: Jessica simpsons uses simple lyrics ... just for you.

  • Jessica simpson's lyrics makes sense.

  • Maybe at first glance their lyrics don't make sense, but if you really look at them, dissect them and all. Yeah

  • escuchenlos marihuanos es lo mejor

  • ur so fuckin dumb.

  • simpleton

  • I guess.

  • Dumb down the world !! WOOT WOOT!!

  • WHAT! how can you not like Cedric's dancing???

  • Lol thats your lack of imagination not understanding the lyrics

  • not really... at all.

  • and the afro? do you like the afro? please tell us more about what you like and dont like cause everyone is waiting for your next comment!........Im just messing with you,I like the james brown dances he does on stage.the lurics make sense also, just use a thesaurus

  • I've never seen an egotistical side of them/ What do they do?

  • O_o...OH POR DIOS ESTA ES UNA DE LAS CANCIONES MAS GRANDIOSAS KE HAYA ESCUCHADO JAMAS...NO SOY FAN DE THE MARS VOLTA PERO ESTA CANCION MERECE ESTAR ENTRE TUS FAVORITAS DE TODA LAS VIDA...LARGA VIDA A THE MARS VOLTA!!!

  • Everybody's a critic these days haha.

Never mind their "ego" (although I've never seen it) and all the like.

Enjoy the music for the music. No need to exploit the members.

  • You know, I kinda envy the relationship Omar and Cedric have with each other as brothers... I wish I could have a bond with my brother like they have.

  • Umm there not brothers, but they been very close to eachother since like 1992?

  • Really? Weird. I thought they actually were related. Either way, they share a great bond.

  • I agree with that. To bad their egos are bigger than their afros.

  • Yeah, Cedric's a little self righteous at times unnecessary. As for Omar, well he seems to believe he understands exactly how the universe works on some level. I dunno, they have their quirks. I'm not far off from them.

  • co mo siempre mars PURA CREMAAAAAAAAAAAAA MASTERS REVERENCIA

  • This is also some older stuff. his voice is way stronger Deloused and Bedlam. His come a long way from here and even further from at the drive in. who also rocked, check them out if you havent heard them.

  • i dont know why the fuck ppl keep dissing cedrics voice. fuck you. he sings how he wants. i dont think any1 else can sing like him. they are the fucking craziest band alive

  • i agree with the last scentence : )

  • not true!

  • that song is coool

i tryed to play the guitar but its too hard for me. and it's name is meccamputecture

not amputecture in case you didn't knew (Y)

    by the way

    nice edition

  • it takes all kinds of people to make a world

  • that was a goofy comment

  • take a look at the beautiful orange cabnit!

    humans as oniments.

  • The singer looks like MC5's singer lol

  • OMG, hahaha its true!

  • what an amazing song

  • Not to piss anybody off, but how could such a talented, innovative band like this stem from At The Drive-In. To me, ATDI was unlistenable. TMV all the way!

  • Eat a giant dick. TMV is awesome but ATDI laid the basis for everything TMV has ever done. Cedric and Omar would never have wanted or been able to make this music if they hadn't already pushed the limit with ATDI.

Listen to Vaya and tell me you aren't reminded of TMV a lot.

  • lol ATDI sucked that giant dick upon you jag to eat

we should all be thankful that TMV kick the shit through ATDI if they could kick each other. physically impossibly.

  • The new album is just a bit more mainstream, but awesome nonetheless. Theodore was an incredible drummer. The new has big shoes to fill, but his fills are pretty sick so I think he'll do a great job. Hahaha, pun intended. All the albums are unique in their own way, the new drummer just brings a different feel to it all.

  • these guys have to be my favorite band of all time. and for anyone who argues over something that's completely opinionated like which TMV album is better, you're all stupid belligerent fucks.

  • These guys are great. After reading the below comments, I didnt realize a bunch of retards like them to...

  • who cares nigga, u either like TMV or u dont

stop trying to break down which album is better than the other. truth be told theyre all diff

    simple as that nahmean

  • YAY for high school dropouts!! :)

  • i love this song

  • Amputechture, such an awesome CD that doens't get enough credit.

Tetragrammaton, Vermicide, Meccaamputechture, Viscera Eyes, Day of the Baphomets, these 5 are in my top 10 best songs of theirs,

The end of this song is amazing, the Sax is used perfectly

  • You're right.

I first said that amputechture was missing something, but that's just because I think you can't compare any cd to de-loused (best cd of the last years + other style)

Tetragrammaton and days of the baphomets are true masterpieces that are underapreciated imo.

  • I agree that this is a great CD, but it's hard to give it much credit when compared to the masterpieces that were De-Loused and Frances, Frances being my favorite.

And I always felt that Bedlam was missing something, and I finally put my finger on it.

    Jon Theodore.

Good album still overall, but in my opinion, it's their worst yet, however, Soothsayer and Ilyena are some of their best tracks of all time.

  • keep listening to bedlam, it will grow on you. u have to make the effort to listen to it.

  • one of my favorite songs on Amputecture!! Prolly my favorite album by them too.

  • Your name is the shit dude, just throwing it out there.

  • Saw them last week at the roundhouse, absolutely fkn amazing! In my opinion the best band around if you're talking about musicianship

  • HUMANS AS ORNAMENTS, that is you my friend.

  • Mars Volta are artists over musicians. Dream Theatre can play a swahilian waltz if you asked them too but their themes are always over the top and corny. Both are masters of what they do but Mars Volta deserves more respect because musicianship only takes practice, being an artist is something more

  • couldn't agree more.

  • agree 100% dude. dream theatre couldnt write a song like day of baphomets.

i guess its a bit of an apples/oranges comparison though.

  • Ummm, weird choice of song to pin as the one that 'dream theatre couldn't write', I mean come on, there's better tracks on Amputechture, my favorite being Viscera Eyes

  • Viscera Eyes is also my favorite. Good taste my friend.

  • hahahahahahahaha a nice one here.....

  • 100% agree mate

  • Represents of EP!

  • the mars volta rules!!!

  • Why do people feel so compelled to rank things all the time? Here's a novel idea: I like all MV's albums, each for different reasons.

  • And that's how it's done, children!

    Couldn't agree more.

  • lmfao..

it's human nature.. we rank things.

  • I wish everyone would agree with you

  • lmfao, why thank-you.
