Victory is not only defined by who had the most losses. Watch Russia in WW II, they "won" the war but had more losses than all the western allies together. The number of losses is depending on HOW a war is fought. Eye to eye or at a high technical level. And Vietnam was a war technology vs. guerilla tactics.

I've worked for DoD (Ordnance Facility) for 30 years and seen production numbers from the 60's. In '68/'69 the USA was sending 80,000 Claymore mines per month the South Vietnam. So Yes, we did use a LOT of mines and traps in Vietnam. Wasn't talked about too much because it's kind of a chicken's weapon that lacks any "honor" that might be left in modern warfare.
