That Class 20 looks spookily lost! Only joking mate, this is one great layout. Wish I had the room and the place.
Really like the curved view around 2.34 where the Warship flies past. Brilliant layout and fantastically operational. Getting realistic movements is something I'm a fond advocate of and am keen to get my models doing also.
If I'm not mistaken this if John T's "East Cheam" model railway which I last saw and worked on around 1972 or 1973 before it was moved to it's new location which I won't mention for privacy.
I recognise the coaling stage, engine shed, station canopies and several other building etc., that I built for the layout.
John is a wizard at getting locos to run so smoothly that theyd put Swiss watches to shame.
You are quite correct Roger. I have heard your name mentioned by John many times, I added 3 letters to your YouTube name and worked out who you are. You are correct, it's not the sheer size of the thing that is so impressive, it's the fact that EVERYTHING works so damned well.
He uses evry hi-tech equipment for that. I length of wood with a piece of very fine emery held in place with a rubber band deals with the track. The loco's ( and rolling stock) wheels are cleaned manually.
Various types are used. The small Bachmann type tension locks, The old Hornby Dublo buckeyes and 3 link. E.M.U's and some passenger rakes are permanently coupled using home made couplings.

great layout but how big is it?
GWR5164 3 years ago
It's approx 50' by 30'. Shown here is only a small part. I hope to add more soon. The layout also contains a model of Woking station too.
