  • Sounds delicious to me.

  • Wow this recipe is just like the beef stew we have here in Abilene TX, BTW Betty I really enjoy your videos your such a great cook, I think its time for rick to get you some new commercial appliances to keep up with all your delicious recipes!

PS - I would love to see you do a recipe for Texas Swiss steak!!

  • Kentucky burgoo is made with all types of wild meat includinng roadkill lol

  • Sometimes I wish i lived in US.. the foodculture seems to be pretty good.

/Anniz, who still hates swedish food. haha

  • The food is interesting here in the U.S--and it's different in different parts of the country! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • Ha! Kentucky Brunswick Stew... I first heard of Burgoo while looking for Brunswick recipe (what can I say, my relatives are from Georgia!). Brunswick Stew and Burgoo were originally made from whatever game the hunters brought back.... Thanks so much, Betty! Can't wait to try this one.

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! This burgoo is nothing like the burgoo that has 5 or 6 kinds of meat, but it is manageable for a family-sized group of people!

  • This is one of our meal next week! Thanks Betty!

  • That's wonderful! I hope your burgoo turned out great! Thanks for your nice comment!

  • SOOO DELICOUS looking!

I love cooking with the Crock pot, it is so versatile! I always cook my joints of meat in it. I also make soups, stews and desserts in it.

Thankyou for yet another FAB recipe!

Love and hugs to you both xx

  • Thanks for your sweet comment! I hope you enjoy the burgoo! Have a terrific day!

  • In our part of the U.S. we put any kind or seafood or meat in it, with appropriate vegetables, and just season it Louisiana-style!

    --Betty :)

  • Around here, we put shrimp in it, but we also put other seafood and meats and vegetables. i'm sure everyone makes it differently! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • you look sooo pretty today! ive never heard of this before but i really wanna try it :)

This looks SO delicious! And so easy. I cannot wait to try it. :-)

  • Hi Jimmy! I hope you do try it! It tastes really good. It does make a lot, but it makes wonderful 2nd day soup! Have a wonderful evening, Jimmy!

  • Betty,

What can I use as an alternative to Okra? I have never seen or heard of it before.

    Thanks,

    Jimmy.

  • what a wonderful looking dish thanks!

  • You're welcome! I hope you enjoy the recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • Oh ok cool thanks.

  • i am so gonna make that thank you !!!!

  • Expect to get a *lot* of soup! But that's good, because it's even better the next day! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Of course, if you want the worlds BEST burgoo, you must go to Arenzville, Il.

  • I didn't claim that this was the *best*! In fact, it's not traditional burgoo, at all! It's just the recipe that was used for the burgoo that we were served on our trip to Keeneland Horse Race Track. However, burgoo is considered to be a Kentucky dish by Wikipedia, etc. To me, it's just a great soup! Thanks for your comment!

  • This sounds great Betty! Will try very soon with this chilly weather that's now in season. :-) Thanks for sharing!

  • Yes, I'm trying to cover chilly weather, sports events, holidays, etc., so you'll be seeing a little bit of everything! Thanks for your sweet comment!

  • this is really really a good slow cooker recipe. thank you

  • I'm glad you are liking the slow cooker recipes. Of course, you can do this with a large pot on the stove! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I'm definitely going to try this!

  • That's great! I hope you enjoy the recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • I love my slow cooker, this is another one that I will prepare.

  • This is great for a slow cooker--and we had so much leftover, which was even better the next day! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • that looks soooo good. so I haveto ask because Im not sure, is this like what would be called gumbo?? or am I tottaly thinking of something else? great job BTW

  • I don't think it's so much like gumbo--but gumbo does have tomatoes and okra! It's mainly that the seasonings are different. For gumbo, they should be cajun or creole.

  • Hi betty I came across your videos while looking for a recipe and have been hooked ever since. I have made a grocery list up and plan to try some of these recipes very soon. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the videos you and Rick post daily.Thank you both so much.

  • Hi Betty! I just found your videos here on UTube and I must say, you make cooking look so easy and enjoyable!! You are an inspiration to this mom :) Thank you for all your hard work!

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! I hope you enjoy my recipes! Thanks for writing!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty, i hope you and your family are well, the ingredients calls for ground thyme, which i cant get here, what should i use as an alternative, plus sage i cant get either! also alchol is banned here so what could i use instead of the sherry wine?

  • Hi Lucy! I'm sorry I've been so long in getting back to you! My channel has become very busy! If you can find two green spices that you like to replace thyme and sage, that will be fine. It could be parsley, oregano basil, rosemary, marjoram, tarragon--just two of them. For the sherry, just make that 1 cup water--you need the liquid, but not the alcohol. I think you will enjoy making this burgoo soup! Have a lovely day!

    --Betty :)

  • Had I a slow cooker, I would go through the effort of making this dish. Nonetheless, it looks fantastic, good work on another lovely video, Betty! :D

  • It doesn't have to be made in a slow cooker. A large pot will do--and it will cook more quickly! Thanks for your nice comment!
