The card readers just streamline data transfer to the ps3 and allow you to expand storage capacity without some stupid looking usb device hanging off your system. Fuck the 160gig I'll stick with my 60gig. I don't play PS2 games anymore either but at least I have that option if I want it.

The old 80GB PS3 and the 60GB PS3 play PS2 games, except the 60 can play more, other than that. There are virtually no differences. They both have a Emotion Engine, which is pretty much like having a PS2 inside your PS3. The both come with Card readers and 4 USB ports.

You can usually buy the 60gb for around $400. But only on the internet. But they are getting kinda rare because their the best ones and not being sold at stores anymore.I bought mine off ebay that was like brand new.

But if you cant get your hands on the 60gb, then any other ps3 still is awesome.Just not as awesome. Still 1000 times better than the 360.

Yes but they also took out card readers, the emotion engine and graphics synthesizer from the ps2, they shrunk the chip sizes for better heat and power consumption. They removed the chrome, as stated. Oh the Playstation 3 text on the console is not longer chrome either. They cut back on a lot and SACD support. I just bought a beat up 40gb for kicks because someone said they would give me an HDD (mine wasn't included) Saturday I get to play GT5 :D W/e until then I guess I am playing my 360.

The unfortunate thing is that the only reason some models have less features than others is to cut manufacturing costs. If only it was cheaper to make while still offering all of the best features and RELIABILITY...I hope Sony makes the ultimate model of the PS3 someday soon.

Best model was the first 60gb with backwards compatibility and second best (the one i have) is the 80gb with backwards compatibility. 80gb has 4 usb ports, wifi capability and a decent amount of backwards compatibility, but it's not compatible with every single ps2 game. i still love the 80gb model though.
