Has anyone ever produced a set of Church documents about (say) the Mother of God, that would go through all the passages (real and mangled) that so bother Protestants of good will ? ISTM that something of the sort might do great good - so does it exist ?
Good explanation to those who don't get it!, I always like what the Pastor says where I worship..."What better way to get to know God then through His Mother...what a gift, our Blessed Mother...I love all Christians, but not to recognize her is something I never understand..I am so happy and proud to say she is a part of my life! AVE MARIA!!!
Thank you for your video...I am a Catholic Convert and I remember how hard it is for me to understand the role of Mary...however it is because I never knew her...I had to get to know her to GET it...
Thank you for your video. Im a Catholic Convert...and I remember when I first came into the Church it was hard for me about the role of Mary...however..it was because I didnt know her...I had to get to know her to see how important she is...
Deacon John: I just created a new Catholic Channel..too many atheistic ones on youtube that spend so much time reading the bible for debates on why not to believe; as for Our Blessed Mother, I am faced frequently with ppl knocking at my door thinking they can get me in a trick bag, calling her the Mother of God...politely, I have on my armour and speak for her; your video has such clarity to those that do not revere her and why Catholics do! God bless you and your family
"Hail Mary, full of grace." Well who else was full of grace? Jesus...and no one else. Therefore she must have been extremely special in God's eyes. We are obligated to show her more respect than any other human. She was born to be special. Unlike the rest of us. Why is she our Mother? Jesus told John to make her his mother....and therefore we should to. Prayers are not just for God. Worship is for God. Praying is talking with those in heaven.
What a wonderful undertaking. God Bless you for what you are doing. It will really help to open 'the doors and windows' of the Catholic Church to the world and remove some of the misunderstanding of who we our and what we believe. God Bless you and your beautiful family, your brother in Christ, Deacon Gilbert Lopez
I would like to add in John:2 at the wedding of Cana, it was Mary who prompted Jesus to preform his first miracle. Jesus even said it was not his time yet but he still listened to Mary. In a way Mary altered the will of God. I think St. John was trying to show the power of Mary's intercessory prayer.
Well, said, but it's not so much a "power", but a privilege that she (and all saints) have been granted by God to intercede on our behalf. That's the topic of the next video.... Thanks for the lead in.
The Catholic teaching on how we venerate Mary is one of the most misunderstood teachings of our faith. Thank you Dcn. John. Keep unmuddying the water. God Bless!
Deacon John, Very well done! May the Holy Spirit work through you to soften the hearts of our non-Catholic Christian brothers and sisters who watch your videos. God bless.
Deacon, if non-Catholics would understand the difference between worship and veneration as you explained, there wouldn't be so much misunderstanding, and they would have another dimension to their prayer life that is very powerful. Honor your father and mother, it's a commandment for all of us, and to have them in your corner in prayer is a great comfort. Personally I'll take all the help I can get. Excellent video. God Bless.
Enjoy your vid John - one question though. You say you call Mary "blessed" because the word says 4 x.How come this same logic doesn`t apply when believers in the Bible are called saints & priests numerous times but the catholic church only uses these terminologies saints for dead believers and priests for the obvious?
Before the Church was called Catholic, when the followers just called it "the way",they did refer to each other as "saints". For whatever reason, that practice died out, but not because the Church prohibited it. I'm sure you've heard people refer to someone they admire by saying "He/she is a saint". The Church doesn't have a problem with this. About the use of the word "priest", we are taught that we are "priests, prophets, and kings".
We speak of the Communion of Saints, all the baptized are saints. Those who came before, those living today & those yet to come. The Catholic Church speaks of saints with a capital "S" as declared saints within the Church, but recalls that all people baptized are saints with a small 's' & remember those who have died & gone on marked with the sign of faith on All Saints Day.
Wonderful description in this video again!!!!! I pray that those who are not of the Catholic Faith come to a better understanding of our relationship with Mary through this presentation. Surely her mantle is wrapped tight around your family. God Bless you for casting your net far!!!!
Deacon John, Thank you for this video on our blessed mother Mary. Now I can expalin to my none Catholic family and friends about honoring and respecting Our blessed mother. Olivia
