His band were amoungst the first to produce this noise. The media did exploit it but the media does that with everything. Grunge was based on the SOUND!!

I mean you can't consider Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and Soundgarden "Grunge". They all sound very different. Example the album this song is on is loaded with hard rock songs, slow and mid tempo rock songs, and soft acoustic song. If any thing all these 1990s band are Fusion Music (I love Fusion Music).
