this guy is a joke, has this bill destroyed the insurance industry??? The insurance companies wanted this bill, because they paid the politicians to make it so weak. I guess peter schiff loved the system where insurance companies won't cover a major medical issue, after my father had been paying for 25 years because they say he had a "pre existing condition". He predicted that it would destroy the insurance industry when in actuality it has increased their business
@rsty614 and he had the audacity to question whether the insurance companies could afford this bill, that is so ridiculously stupid I can't even fathom it.
@TWSceptic he explained what he thought would happen and it obviously didn't, he said that this bill was socialized medicine which it isn't, it is universal health care, and he said that it would destroy the insurance company, which it hasn't/won't
@MrJonno99 1. Hong Kong, Jamestown Colony, Plymouth Colony, Canada, Guatemala, Sandy Springs Georgia, Even China.
2. Every major job I've done was for a privately owned company and we both were better off for it. (capitalist)
3. My longest trip was in South India. Many people there are communist. I'd say the have a mixed economy.
4. I am not kidding. For example, I have a right to own guns and smoke (not that I would smoke) I don't have a right to take other peoples guns and cigarettes.
TravistheHuman ... I just watched one of your vids ... you don't think government should fund education???? who then .. the church? the corporates? ...YOU are a F'n nutcase ...go get a real job son and grow up!!!!
And another thing .. you say you dislike big government, and the federal reserve...
Got news for you moron ... the federal reserve is privately owned (Capitalism at it's purest). you read the bible and books that other libertarians talk about (well read then !!!!! you are a F'n joke
@MrJonno99 So do you not understand the rules of debate. We are leading because we have cleaner minds than you. When your close minded generation passes on we will clean up the mess you left. I'm not the only libertarian to think education isn't a right, and libertarians come in many religions and age groups. The FED is a group of corporatist and corporatist don't play buy the rules. I'm a capitalist, damn it! I want silver money.
@TravistheHuman Who the Fuck is "WE" and what the hell are you leading?????
BTW ... stop reading the bible, it will make you go blind ... read the old testament, the first book about your so called god, and if you still believe in god after that, then it will give me a good indication of how well educated and intelligent you really are
@MrJonno99 You made this about my age so I went with it. You could go argue with libertarians in your age group but they may be dead in 50 years as well as harder to convince. Your lack of respect is convincing me of things.
This has nothing to do with religion. I hate religion. Most American libertarians are atheist and I'm agnostic. Logically there can't be multiple gods, so the Hebrews and other offshoots may be right about one thing.
I really want Alcamo's fundamentals of microbiology #9.
@MrJonno99 Schools should be payed for by parents. Here in the US teachers have little motivation to do good and schools are bias about big government. I'll say more about that latter. About me, I'm left-brained.
Mate do you realize that your one of the very few democratic western country that doesn't have socialized medicine. OMG that’s right your country is one of those stupid countries that would rather spend more money on ways of killing people that making people healthy.
You guys really are stupid, it is no wounder that the rest of the west find it difficult to take you seriously anymore.
I personally think your slide down started from the Vietnam war and has been on the slippery sloop ever since.
@jonno101063 That's why I don't want a government monopoly. We have been on the down slope of big government for 170 years. Our current heath-care system is a obsolete plan leftover from WWII. It is not completely free market. What could possibly be more democratic but without theft than a free market. There are reasons I don't take the rest of the World seriously. We were the model of freedom and capitalism.
@TravistheHuman and there into lays your problem .... you live in a very corrupt country, so your government is not working for you the people who elected them but for big corporates an in this case the HUGE drug companies, who in turn charge you an arm and a leg for the drugs that your population needs to stay healthy (that’s capitalism at work, pure and simple) ... how can you not deny that cheaper health care would be better if regulated by an HONEST government ... like here in New Zealand
@MrJonno99 How much tax do you pay? What is the only proper role of government? Besides capitalism would allow competition we lack that because we have a corporatist economy. Getting the government completely out of health care should eliminate the special interest and allow prices to drop.
@MrJonno99 1 and 2. The US just an alliance of 50 republics. As such all it should do is protect the states and the rights of the people. A republic only exist to protect our rights, and stops there. You have a right to your life, liberty, and property. You have a right to do whatever you want as long as you do not take on the rights of others. Government has no rights so democracy is immoral if the people are immoral. That is why the Founders didn't give us a democracy. There should be no tax.
@MrJonno99 3 /watch?v=3WnS96NVlMI If I have a right to health care I have a right to food, water, and to have my charley horse massaged by you. If you and I are the only people in the world than we would pool for health care but we would not force each other to. Exploitation and tax fattening companies is not a form of capitalism in my book. Capitalism involves rules of fair play and manners and those who have no respect are punished. Increasing the value of a sprout is capitalist, tax is not.
In my opinion, everyone has the right to be healthy and everyone have the option of obtaining healthcare no matter what their paycheck would otherwise dictate. With that said, I think that if you want the extras for the non-vital surgery (like shorter waiting lists, etc) then you should have the option to get it. Therefore, as a person who has experienced both Public and Private healthcare in Australia, I think we have developed the closest thing to a perfect healthcare system.
You lost me at 3:15. The bill has mandated that everyone *must* purchase insurance, so no...you can't just "buy" insurance *after* you become sick. By mandating that everyone must be covered, it effectively broadens the coverage base to include sick and healthy alike.
Why is anyone listening to this guy...he thinks using that very very scary word "socalism" should take you brain away...He is actually defending the INSURANCE COMPANIES...yeah give them more premiums so they can deny more claims...
A single payer system (whether it is from the gov or a contracted insurance company) would significantly drive down the cost of care, create better access to care, and significantly reduce the "middle man" which has been the big insurance companies making huge profits.
Health care should be a right not a commodity. Think of it as education. Every child has a right to be educated in public schools. They should have a right to care.
@silksoymilk12349 Rights do not impose costs on others. Rights are preexisting conditions. Such as it is, the public school system in America sucks. Just look at those brilliant programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, The Post Office and the Pentagon....all broke or cannot account for losing billions of dollars. and you want to give this behemoth MORE money and power?
In addition, the insurance companies are idiots with reimbursements. PCPs and specialists should get the same reimbursements in order to encourage preventive medicine which will drive down the cost of healthcare over all by decreasing the volume of curative care. The PCPs are suffering because of low reimbursements and too many patients while the specialists are liviing large with 2-3 times the reimbursements and a quarter of the patient load. Talk about setting the system up for failure.
The problem is access to care. Your talking about redistribution of wealth by the insurance company which is true if they used a community rating system like Blue Cross Blue Shield did way back when, but now all the big health insurance companies are using an experience rating which translates to less access to care for people of low socioeconomic stature who tend to get sick more.
Not only did the Social Worker condescend me & berate me & even yell at me while I was litterally on the virge of death when went to Gov HC for "help"....she also told me to shut up abt elder I was caring for that was being several abused by someof their relatives & friends.....and I was terrified bc too sick to help & tried to tell Soc Wrkr who proceeded to yell at me "I don't wanna hear it" & another huge reason I bail out & went 2 teach hosp 4 help instead & got very poor care.
Did anybody see D bitch Social Worker on O'Reilly - bet 1-2 yrs ago - that bitch spinning n her chair - orgasmically get' n off on her Gov given pwr - when O'Reilly ask why parents being jailed 4 spanking kids - from what I remember abt conversation, it was Soc Wrkrs that made law 2 jail parents & the bitch said makes her job EZ'r that way - WTF .why do SocWrkrs hav so much pwr? WHAT"S THIS GOT 2 DO W GOV HC? Everything, it's all the same, Gov Ctrl & abuse of power, it's called FASCISM!!!
Where's the outrage abt Soc Wrkrs & Psychiatrists who work for Gov destroying lives & getting away with it - Why in the F aren't our Gov leaders ever mentioning this - where's the outrage - I never hear abt it from Rush or Palin or Malkim, Coulter, etc....(People whom I respect greatly).... WTF ~ I'm F'n pissed - this is fascism goin on regularly - In My Humble Opinion, ppl R being victimized by Gov frequently & it's virtually impossible 2 get restitution 4 damages Gov causes WTF!!
IMAO based on personal experience, Gov run HC is Fascism already. AND another aspect 2 Gov "help" is Social Workers having unlimited power 2 destroy lives - yet only a few Conservs have agreed w me abt this.... Social Workers & Psychs have the power to take kids away from parents, and force ppl onto psych drugs & institutionalize wrongfully & get away w it based upon My Humble Ass Opinion this happens frequently, from what hav learned from prsnl exp & exp.'s of ppl I know & other sources.
If U've been to Gov HC like me, it's already a form of Socialism, but that's really not true, in my ass opinion, it's Fascism!!! THere R several depts of Gov HC, most disqualified me while accepting others that were better off than I....the one prgrm that wld accept me - accused me of having mental probs after 1 hr visit w their psych - that means if I followed thru, which didnt bc of that - wld be unemployable & forced onto Gov welfare, less than poverty level - which I why I bailed out!
@Luudite Illegal to discriminate against people who come in sick to buy insurance (which defeats the concept of insurance)= Insurance companies receiving less money= not being able to afford covering those who DO get sick (who paid their monthly premiums)=Insurance companies making a desperate attempt to raise premiums= people oping out of costly premiums or just wait till they get sick and buy insurance= Collapse of Health Insurance Sector!= Dependency on Government health care providers=STALIN
Obamacare was signed on March 2010 with 59% of the people disapproving according to a CNN poll. The CBO scored Obamacare on six years of coverage for 10 years of taxes, which is how the CBO showed the bill to be deficit neutral . It’s unconstitutional mandating all citizens to purchase health care. Even Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill, so you can find out what is in it.” watch?v=KoE1R-xH5To It’s also meant to take over industry watch?v=p-bY92mcOdk
THE MAN IS A DISCONNECTED FINANCIAL BLOWHARD WITH INTELLIGENCE INVERSE PROPORTIONED TO HIS EGO. I ALWAYS GET A KICK OUT OF PEOPLE THAT TALK ABOUT SOCIALIED ANYTHING LIKE IT'S A DIRTY WORD YET THAT'S WHAT ALLOWS CITIES AND THEIR VARIOUS OFFICES LIKE WATER POLICE FIRE EMS, A COURT AND JUSTISE SYSTEM EDUCATION. OF COURSE IF WE WERE ALL SUPER WEALTHY WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO COLECT OUR OWN GARBAGE AND BATTLE OUR OWN FOES ....JUST LIKE DAVY CROCKETT. EXCUSE THE CAPS, MY SITE WAS ONCE BETTER.
@Thereinliestherb: In addition. The problem with the majority of the Americans is that they worship 18th century values to much. Running a country of 4 million differs (1776) from running a nation of 300 million. (Today). As for the fat asses, just give the healthy ones a discount on the premium.
@Kapellard "Just give the healthy one's a discount..." What a load. That hardly justifies what they still lose in the bargain, a bargain in which they have no leverage and yet carry the most cost burden. Your principle could only justify charging the unhealthy more, and allowing healthy people to buy according to their own risk--as with every other form of insurance. Indeed. We should incentivize good health by disincentivizing irresponsibility--say, fast food and cigarette taxes.
@thereinliestherb. Let's stick to the facts. Per head, the US population spends twice as much on healthcare than the Germans. Yet every German has access to a great healthcare service. In the US most of the money spend arrives in the pockets of the insurance companies. In Germany the money is spent on real healtcare services. The Americans spend it on insurance. That is the difference.
@Kapellard "Let's stick to the facts." Your assertions are enormously erroneous, and they falsely assume that the respective populations are equal in terms of risk. American insurance costs directly correspond with the explosion in risk due to tanking health stats, and the claim that "most" HC money goes into insurance pockets is flimsy and unsupported. In fact, they happen to make their money by absorbing the overhead of such an unequal distribution of risk, supporting my argument.
What a b******* story. A modern economy needs a social health care system. Take a look at the biggest exporting economy in the world: Germany. An excellent healthcare system and the health costs per inhabitant are lower than in the US. The US is the biggest economy that survives totally on borrowing. That is the problem. 18th century thinking may not be the best way to lead the US to the future.
@Kapellard You're mistaken. You're argument requires the assumption that the populations you're comparing are equal in terms of risk. I don't know about you, but when I look around and all I see are unhealthy fatasses and smokers, I tend to believe that socializing these risks could only worsen our HC system and drag down economic productivity even further. US: 70% obese/overweight, 25% smokers, and ubiquitous drugs/alcohol use. How does Germany compare?
@thereinliestherib I have lived in Berlin and have some experience of the German healthcare system(from which most of the world, including the UK)could learn. In 1948 Germans were in a terrible state of health--lets remember that the deprivations of WWII came hard on the heels of WWI(when urban Germans were malnourished or even starving). Lifestyle healthvictims. Brtain was not far behind. SO in Europe we evolved a global Preventive medicine approach to raise the health of everyone. It works.
@CobinRain You're still comparing populations with nothing in common, but now in a temporal sense as well. If the US had created such a system after the war, despite a lot of accompanying assumptions, maybe then we would have been able to control our costs before they got so out of hand, by making people responsible for their health in the first place. But when ubiquitous poor health is already after the fact, socialization wouldn't change anything.
Another affluent American-- a well-scrubbed man with overfed cheeks talking about things he does not comprehend, such as health and being poor in America. And socialism. Look: 42% of Americans have incomes below $25,000 p.a.. So a couple both working fulltime earns $50,000pa Reckon on 25% off in taxes leaves $37000 pa. A healthplan for them and 2 kids will be $1500 a month or $18000 pa. THAT leaves $1500 a month to live on. Rent ,heating, food, car, clothes. Then one of them loses their job...
@CobinRain You're argument ignores the fact that the people you're talking about are hardly healthy. In fact, that the majority of Americans are so unhealthy has caused the explosive increase in risk that has contributed the most, by far, to our increasing HC costs. Quit class-baiting and wake up to the fact that an irresponsible lack of health, not some corporate conspiracy, is the reason HC is in such poor condition. Obamacare advocates are but industry shills.
@CobinRain Sorry, but you're talking to someone who happens to be poor, healthy, and periodically uninsured. You can elevate the poor to an unassailable idol like another partisan hack, or you can counterargue the figures I've given you. The Obamacare mandate is explicitly designed to entrench corporate interests on the backs of the working, while all you shills can do is spout off anti-industry rhetoric about how enforcing personal economic rights means denying care for kittens and unicorns.
@thereinliestherib "Shill" "Hack"? I'm beginning to get the idea you dont like me. I mean, I'm not even an American(thank god). But here's how I see the situation: in America the overall spending on healthcare is more than double the UK but the outcomes are statistically similar. I cant help thinking that if the US spent only as much the UK, people in the US would be dying in the streets; and if the UK spent what the US spends we would(with our system)be the healthiest people in the world.
@CobinRain Exactly. If you'd ever looked at American health stats, you'd realize that our cost disadvantage is purely because of pool risk due to a less healthy population. Can you really look at the direct correlation between rising health costs and plummeting personal health statistics (obesity, smoking, etc), and not draw the appropriate connection? When you admit that personal risk is the driver of HC costs, independent of systemic influence, the left's HC argument disintegrates.
Well, sick people cost more money, and poor people tend to be sicker. But the major origin of cost increases are government regulations that prevent competition in the healthcare market.
@TimeWarp66 I'd find your argument more compelling if I didnt know other countries and other systems. My own country has no competition in healthcare provision. And yet we live longer than you do, have better maternity and infant care/survival ratesthan you do(Time Magazine last week)and spend literally half, yes half, of what you do per capita on healthcare. Of course the poor need more healthcare. In civilised countries we concentrate on improving their health. We have a needs -based system.
1) You have universal access to health insurance, but not universal access to care. Because you have no competition, the quality of care is quite low. Waiting hours to see a doctor, or years to get a procedure is unheard of in the United States.
2) Life expectancy is a poor measure of a healthcare system. We have higher crime rates, more car accidents, more obesity...etc. If you take those out of the equation Americans live much longer.
@TimeWarp66 Try to focus on what I am saying! British people DO have universal access to care according to need; it's free and free at the point of use. I've been using it all my life. I have also used the systems in France , Norway and Germany--v similar. The quality of care is high. 30% of Americans dont get doctors or operations at all because of the cost
Life expectancy is an excellent measure of healthcare. Our systems are full of health education programmes, periodic scans, support etc
@CobinRain I suppose NHS works so well, like here in Australia that there is no need for private insurance. Oh wait, there is. The public options suck and the waiting times are terrible unless you have private insurance. And of course, we have an indigenous population here with access to all healthcare and the dole...yet they live much shorter lives on average. So it is not so simple as you pretend.
@kev3d "public options suck" is a disgusting Americanism and hardly worthy of a good aussie. There is no need for private health insurance in the UK-- Even the prime minister uses the NHS. If your health service isnt working this is a political issue for you, for all Australians. Vote for the politicians who promise to improve things.
But look: the overall picture here is that privatising healthcare is a gold mine for insurance companies. It's all about the money. Resist it. It's not better
@CobinRain A disgusting Americanism to call a spade a spade? You say there is no need for private insurance...then why does it exist? MY health service works fine because I use private care. It is not a "political issue", it is one of economics and personal freedom and frankly I don't want to have to pay for others, particularly those who do not take very good care of themselves. Singapore and Hong Kong have much better systems, much lower taxes and much more choice.
@CobinRain And by the way, since when is something being "all about the money" a bad thing? Last I checked, computers were "all about the money" and they get better and faster and cheaper (comparatively) each year. Health is an engineering problem, plain and simple. The machines are complex but fixing them is, at the end of the day, a matter of removing or replacing bad elements with good ones. Funny that without govt. all other forms of technology thrive, while health costs increase.
@CobinRain And lastly, have you ever considered why some Canadians opt for treatment in the U.S.? Or Australians go to Asia? A famous case had Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams fly to the US for a Heart Procedure. What a curious thing, if Canadian socialized medicine is so excellent.
Add 1:23 to the "Peter Schiff was right" reel - sort of.
The CBO belatedly admitted that the bill costs net money - TRILLIONS - rather than reduce deficit(many reasons - double counting, omitting costs, etc.). Peter also correctly identifies that the taxes start immediately while benefits start later - which exposes the fraud under which the bill was presented as deficit friendly. Peter and anyone with a brain saw that - but, yeah, they did not listen. Not 40% of the public, or 60% of Congress.
The reason insurance is so high is because of socialsim it because of subsidies, its because of mostly lawyers and unions and courts and "settlements" aka shakedowns for bs claims as to injury caused by this that and the other things that impossible. Its becuas eof this consuemrist bullshit greed and democrat polcies for 50 years insurance has gone up because costs have gone up forced upon the businesses by the states get rid of that and watch prices drop adding with more socislism is suicide.
@Cheedillow they own the banks print the money own the goverment pay for statutes etc own the irs the music & film industry the media they have all the gold and diaments Israel will take over the power from amerika and will become the worldpower of the world They planned this for ages to come this far they were the ones behind slavery and still are only people dont realize that they are slaves. they want us poor and depended on them dont you see? watch: watch?v=cYBsDwjezQI search david duke
So spreading the wealth amongst each others as American citizens is Socialism? Then what do you call giving Hundreds of Billions of Tax Payer dollars to just one section of the population (Wall St)?
Socialized medicine ?? does that mean tax-funded healthcare? then you already have socialized Police and socialized fire department why cant america make their health care work??
Countries with socialized health care rank among the best in health care. The US spends the most money on health care and its not even in the top 20. Current health care system fails so hard
Just a small clarification: The government doesn't pay for shit, the people pay for everything. If the government paid for everything, maybe they wouldn't be such wasteful spenders.
@itachi705 I don't have to accept any ones ideas, I'm and American you dumb ass, and I have the freedom to research and come up with answers myself. Unlike you, who "accepts Schiff's truth", and tries to push it on others. I did my study and everything I have come up with shows that almost everything he says is false, so go fuck yourself. I gotcha bitch right here, say hello to your momma.
@itachi705 You would want a man on his knees for you, but you are talking to the wrong one. Go talk to Schiff. You guys can compliment each other on your intellectual talents and eventually you may find the love interest you are searching for. As for me, like I said, I don't go that way, not that I judge you on your preference. To each his own.
You should apologize to yourself for allowing yourself to be a little gay lamb. Stupid sheep, don't have any ideas of your own.
Have you ever taken a look at a list of countries with the highest standard of living and GDP? One glance will disprove all claims about gvt subsidized healthcare.
Go to Google & find the link to top 10 Countries with highest std of living ( note they all are social democracies (socialist) with nationalized healthcare (paid for thru taxation) . The US did NOT make the list
Then, find the link for GDP. US took 9th, but still under the same social democracies with the highest std of living.

This video actually made me pretty angry at the fact that Peter hasn't regarded human beings but rather focus on the Insurance Companies. If it is so absurd to have socialized health care then why has it worked out in so many countries. Now I do agree that the US has a pretty small step towards a decent health care system unlike many European countries. But to regard socialized medicine as a mistake is wrong.
Fuck the insurance companies, learn to fucking take care of one and another as equals.
Yes, everyone is covered! If they die while on a government waiting list that's unfortunate, but they are covered! If they can't afford a trip to the US to have the procedure done in time that's unfortunate, but they are covered! If they can't get the drug because the company won't sell it because they can't match their costs and it won't be available generically for years, so sad, but they are covered!
It must be nice for the surviving family members to know that the deceased was covered.
@TreachMarkets i think the reason europeans live longer because americans die more of gun violence, car accidents, not mention our disastrous lifestyles, drugs, bad diets, depression
The US's big problem is health care and its burden on the economy and the people. If they just nationalized it like the developed nations it would solve all their problems with medicare, medicaid and people dying because of no health coverage(18,000 per year). 18% of its GDP is spent on health care against less than 10% for developed nations, this makes the US far less competitive and strips labour and capital away from production, which it desperately needs.
Agreed with most of what you say in general, but I don't like your thoughts on this subject. What's wrong with people not having to pay ridiculous prices for health care? That's the one thing I feel should be socialized.. it's not right that rich people can get treated while poor people cannot. Anyway, I've watched a thousand of your videos and the only comment I've left (this one) has been negative. So I feel I should say that mostly I agree with your opinions.
Yeah living in a society where everyone regardless of ability to pay gets healthcare..the old,the children, the poor..Yeah that really is evil. How dare we not follow the agenda based on maximising the profits of health insurer's..This dick here has never had a relative die due to having no money to pay for treatment..Socialised medicine is based around the idea that everyone's health and everyone's life matters..which is far more ethical than a system based on keeping a corporate ceo in luxury .
If we follow this guy we can soon have companies that only hire young, non-smoking, non-drinking, fit people who can prove they work out everyday. So if I were this guy I'd start working out to lose that double chin or he'll be on the street.
Schiff says "it will put the private insurance co.'s out of business", because they can't discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions".
Bullshit. Those with no current health issues will pay more in premiums, and those who develop health issues, or who get older, will not see their premiums go out of sight expensive. The end result is that h.c. costs are spread to the largest risk pool, as opposed to being on the backs of the sick & injured.
On the one had idiots like Schiff rail against h.c. reforms because it supposedly forces everyone to buy insurance, then on the other had say people can choose not to buy insurance.
I guess as someone who just entered medical school I kind of made a bad choice eh. I mean they can just make doctors slaves to the state and forced to serve people for free or lose their license. I can see it happening now. Not slaves, I mean indentured servants.
And of course, when that happens nobody smart will want to be a doctor anymore and we won't have competent doctors since the competition to get into med school will be non-existent. Well, I guess I'm screwed.
How is this socialized health-care? This is a clear handout to the corporations, to the insurance industry. You think the lobbyists didn't get their way? Schiff is simply off his rocker here.
Health care is definitely a much better & fairer system because upper, middle and lower class are treated (relatively) equal. But of course this rich ass here doesn't want to give away even the smallest amount of his money and rather sees the poorer ones dying of serious illnesses.
Seriously, I wonder why many Americans are worried so much about health care when at the same time they live in constant fear of not being able to pay their hospital bills ...
@indyany1 everyone wants health care reform, non-democrats just want to do it in a responsible way with less intrusion from the government. Schiff is saying that in the end the government will destroy more lives than save them under these policies b/c politicians do not understand fundamental economics. And yes, he is a very wealthy and intelligent man...good for him! Thanks for judging people based on their success. In your liberal views I understand that success somehow equates to a crime.
@tonyg0123 If socialized healthcare destroys lives, why is it that every developed nation with socialized healthcare has healthier citizens and pay far less than we do per capita in health care expenses?
No one thinks success is a crime. We just realize that it's a fact that the family you're born into has a bigger influence on your future wealth than anything else - most people born wealthy die wealthy, and vice versa. So people who think the rich just worked harder are pretty stupid.
@megarational funny, because if you know anything about economics and follow Peter Schiff, he has been dead on with just about all his economic predictions in the U.S. markets and abroad for the past 7 years. The guy plain and simply knows what he is talking about. Have you seen his debates with economic college professors? He gives them a schooling on economics. Hate him all you want, but he is right and you are gonna watch his predictions unfold.
Hilarious that this man wants to be a senator because he "has a brain". Actually he has no brain. He has failed to understand that a national health system IS an insurance system. You have to pay in--everyone does-and you get the benefits when/if you need them. Simple. We Europeans are healthier, live longer and have no anxieties about hospital bills
Peter Schiff, it's about getting more for your money so your whole forecasting of the health care reform implications may sound coherent but you're leaving out that services are what provide revenue and that would be the incentive to preserve private insurance coverage over the public insurance coverage. And the penalty doesn't cover medical costs so there is no fine that could possibly be more beneficial to the individual than a typical insurance plan. FAIL
sooo with the new helthcare if i brake my legs ... i can just buy incurence after i broke my legs??? he's acting like the only heath problems are the stuff like cancer or aids or brth defects etc this guy is dume or just blabing crap...
Just imagine if we were to give free GOV health care to poor people who can't afford it they may actually want to live and that will cost even more money.
guys, the point of this is talking about why this change to insurance wont work. Its stupid to pay for insurance until you are sick. socialized medicine would make more sense than this health care plan.
@5001edi It's not ok to spend all this on war. But when our elected officials can't run an auto-buying incentive program with any efficiency how can we really expect them to run this well? I mean we definately need health care reform, but why do we have to force everyone to pay higher taxes just so addicts, the obese and other people who don't even attempt to take decent care of themself can drain the system?
This is reinforced by Bruce Bartletts report in a post entitled, appropriately, The Closing of the Conservative Mind:
Since [Frum] is no longer affiliated with AEI, I feel free to say publicly something he told me in private a few months ago. He asked if I had noticed any comments by AEI scholars on the subject of health care reform. I said no and he said that was because they had been ordered not to speak to the media because they agreed with too much of what Obama was trying to do.
Socialism like FRANCE, UK, CANADA, GERMANY, JAPAN, AUSTRALIA, DENMARK, FINLAND, IRELAND, ITALY, DENMARK, NEW ZEALAND, NETHERLANDS, ISRAEL.....
The total cost the Bush's Iraq war and reconstruction is already $975 Billion for 7 years which republicans say "is small price to pay for freedom and democracy in Iraq".
Obama's healthcare bill costs $940 Billion for 10 years. "Socialism!"
@KingLutherQ Yes, the war costs too much but so does this health care. Most people's health problems are due to their own lack of judgement. i.e. they are either obese or have addiction issues, which, are poor decisions on THEIR part that THEY have to pay for. Why the hell are we punishing people who don't abuse themselves in the form of higher taxes and insurance just so people that don't care enough to exercise regularly or abstain from substances welch off the system?
So your argument against health care reform is for people to be aware of their health. That is the same as saying; "Don't get sick." That's not much of a solution. Do you have any statistics for the claim that people's health problems are due to their own lack of judgment? And this doesn't account whatsoever for the exorbitant costs of just preserving your life and maintaining one's health. So two problems: 1) people aren't uninsured 2) people that are insured pay a high price.
@lookit87 That is not the same as don't get sick. It's pretty much common knowledge that most lung cancers are due to people having a smoking habit. Most heart conditions are due to having a lousy diet or not exercising enough. Please explain to me why people that actually have the forsight & self control to not become addicts and to actually stay active should bear the burden for those that don't have the forsight to take care of themselves.
@henrylicious Yes, it is. I know that it is common knowledge that lung cancer and heart conditions have prior causes that have to do with a person's lifestyle but that is not all or even most, and that's why I asked for some statistics. Some people have a genetic predisposition to have body problems, so with little ingestion of harmful substances that anyone else would gladly take their body will take an even heavier toll than the rest. The current state of HC has a pool mechanism [cont'd]
@henrylicious The current state of the health care system utilizes a pool mechanism so it's not an individual basis, the fact is, if your insurance plan insures people with diseases(the ones that according to you, lack foresight) you're going to have to pay for them one way or another. Since our Gross Domestic Product pays more for health care than any other civilized nation our economy is supporting the welfare of these irresponsible people, whether we like it or not. [cont'd]
By the way, it's 'foresight'. I don't need to explain to you why people that don't become addicts should bear the financial burden of paying for someone else, that's just the way the private sector-ran health care system currently works. If it wasn't like that then the entire insurance structure would collapse.
@KingLutherQ Yes, the war costs too much but so does this health care. Most people's health problems are due to their own lack of judgement. i.e. they are either obese or have addiction issues, which, are poor decisions on THEIR part that THEY have to pay for. Why the hell are we punishing people who don't abuse themselves in the form of higher taxes and insurance just so people that don't care enough to exercise regularly or abstain from substances welch off the system?
its so sad that people are so uneducated and blinded by the lies and the liberal media that they think this health care bill is going to solve all health care problems.
this is one of the best explanations of the economical disasters of this bill not the mention the plummet of quality care in the united states.
not to mention that its an infringement on the 10th amendment.
many people are uninsured, myself being one of those, but this bill will simply destroy the quality of life.
i meant the quality of life for simply everyone involved after the country goes bankrupt and the USD isn't worth anything. we are already trillions of dollars of debt to the chinese and this bill will add over 9 trillion more in foreign debt and tax payer's dollars combined. that is IF the chinese agree to keep purchasing our debt, which they cant stop doing at any time.
i agree that there is no life without health, and unfortunately this bill does not solve the country's health problems.
God Bless Obama. Now, can we work on rounding these a-hole douchebag tea baggers up and deporting them? There are millions of aliens that would be grateful to take their places. And, the aliens want to get jobs and work.
@someoldladi Feel free to move someplace the hell else. We wont miss you or your ilk. Actually, you are the designated losers in the two party system. Without you, a political group with some skill might actually rise up and compete with the Democrats. On second thought, you scumbag traitors stay right here and keep on representing the douchebag crazy vote. Losers.
@PickledBi11 wft are you talking about ? America is strong again ? lol hows is that ? because Obama has put us in a few trillion more dollars of debt we cant pay. I am ashamed of most citizens in this county. You all live in la la land where things are free and debt is endless and all is well. No empire lasts forever and this one is young. Quit being childish.
@hatchls1 Wow. You are ashamed that we, the people, are finally willing to take care of the weakest among us, while I am ashamed that you tea baggers scream out nonsense because the TV tells you that you need to panic and wet your panties. The dicotomy is amazing.
@PickledBi11 you are so misguided and know nothing of what you are talking about. It is unfortunate that you dont see the room for abuse in this policy. BTW I never watch TV but I can tell that you do with your "teabagger" name calling. That is just left wing smash tactics to try and undermine completely intelligent and constitutional tax protest. It is funny how you idiots criticize the very people that are trying to help this country. Guess you like gov telling you what to do. that is obvious
@PickledBi11 "We the people" haha you sound like the TV. There is no We The People on this. Over 50% of Americans dont want this. It is great to help those that need it but not through socialized forced government policy. The right way is for people to help each other and be right. The gov. never does anything right, surely you understand that much at least. Personal responsibility is the key here not diaper changing gov. policy.
Actually here's whats next as a result from this historic bill, NO MORE BANKRUPTCIES CAUSED BY OVER DUE MEDICAL BILLS, NO MORE DENIALS AS A RESULT OF PRE EXISTING CONDITIONS, COVERAGE FOR MILLIONS WHO LACK IT. That actually sounds like the government is trying to help its people, unlike what the private insurers have done, worrying about raising profits and not coverage!
you completely miss the point... if you can buy car insurance after you get in a wreck and still have your car fixed then why pay for car insurance month after month, duh
I can't call Maobama a communist - that's an insult to commies. Obama is a Nazi on steroids. The people hate this, there will be an IRS army going into every aspect of your life. Obama has lied about everything. This will be defeated-count on it. The people still rule, sorry libtards, your stormtroopers will be stopped. The way this was done was all backroom deals, arm twisting, and corruption like the world has never seen. Obama has got to be tried for treason.
@az10101010 Hey, stupid ass. You already are forced to buy health insurance. Its called medicare. You just dont use it yet. Either you are an empty headed parrot that just repeats what the TV tells you to think like a brainless drone with the IQ of a homeschooler, or you are a lazy tea bagger who avoids work like a cat avoids water and thus doesn't have a paycheck to see the tax thats on there. Which one are you, you worthless pile of dog crap?
I live in Denmark in Europe. We also hear about the whole social health care reform. Honestly we have a really hard time understanding why some people are against the health care reform. In our eyes it looks like it's the medical business who are afraid of loosing more money. The reason for that is simply, that alot of countries in Europe has a social health care reform, and the truth is that it works really really good. It's not without a reason we are ranked as the happiest people in the....
this guy is a joke, has this bill destroyed the insurance industry??? The insurance companies wanted this bill, because they paid the politicians to make it so weak. I guess peter schiff loved the system where insurance companies won't cover a major medical issue, after my father had been paying for 25 years because they say he had a "pre existing condition". He predicted that it would destroy the insurance industry when in actuality it has increased their business

Hahaha there is no separation between corporates and capitalism, they go hand in hand...
1 .. Name one country or society where capitalism has worked?
2 .. How many corporate companies have you ever worked for? (they are all capitalist based business)
3 .. Have you every traveled anywhere in the world to see other countries and societies at work?
4 .. You have to be kidding me, you don't believe it is the right of every person to have an education?
The FED is a capitalist corporation

@MrJonno99 1. Hong Kong, Jamestown Colony, Plymouth Colony, Canada, Guatemala, Sandy Springs Georgia, Even China.
2. Every major job I've done was for a privately owned company and we both were better off for it. (capitalist)
3. My longest trip was in South India. Many people there are communist. I'd say the have a mixed economy.
4. I am not kidding. For example, I have a right to own guns and smoke (not that I would smoke) I don't have a right to take other peoples guns and cigarettes.

You guys really are stupid, it is no wounder that the rest of the west find it difficult to take you seriously anymore.
I personally think your slide down started from the Vietnam war and has been on the slippery sloop ever since.
jonno101063 6 months ago
@jonno101063 That's why I don't want a government monopoly. We have been on the down slope of big government for 170 years. Our current heath-care system is a obsolete plan leftover from WWII. It is not completely free market. What could possibly be more democratic but without theft than a free market. There are reasons I don't take the rest of the World seriously. We were the model of freedom and capitalism.
TravistheHuman 6 months ago
@TravistheHuman and there into lays your problem .... you live in a very corrupt country, so your government is not working for you the people who elected them but for big corporates an in this case the HUGE drug companies, who in turn charge you an arm and a leg for the drugs that your population needs to stay healthy (that’s capitalism at work, pure and simple) ... how can you not deny that cheaper health care would be better if regulated by an HONEST government ... like here in New Zealand
MrJonno99 5 months ago
@MrJonno99 How much tax do you pay? What is the only proper role of government? Besides capitalism would allow competition we lack that because we have a corporatist economy. Getting the government completely out of health care should eliminate the special interest and allow prices to drop.
TravistheHuman 5 months ago
@TravistheHuman
1.. How much tax I pay is irrelevant
2... the government is put in power to serve the majority of the people (not the corporates or big drug companies)
3.. capitalism only serves the few at the top and the trickle down effect has never ever worked, same as Communism (greed always gets in the way)
MrJonno99 5 months ago
@MrJonno99 1 and 2. The US just an alliance of 50 republics. As such all it should do is protect the states and the rights of the people. A republic only exist to protect our rights, and stops there. You have a right to your life, liberty, and property. You have a right to do whatever you want as long as you do not take on the rights of others. Government has no rights so democracy is immoral if the people are immoral. That is why the Founders didn't give us a democracy. There should be no tax.
TravistheHuman 5 months ago
@MrJonno99 3 /watch?v=3WnS96NVlMI If I have a right to health care I have a right to food, water, and to have my charley horse massaged by you. If you and I are the only people in the world than we would pool for health care but we would not force each other to. Exploitation and tax fattening companies is not a form of capitalism in my book. Capitalism involves rules of fair play and manners and those who have no respect are punished. Increasing the value of a sprout is capitalist, tax is not.
TravistheHuman 5 months ago
In my opinion, everyone has the right to be healthy and everyone have the option of obtaining healthcare no matter what their paycheck would otherwise dictate. With that said, I think that if you want the extras for the non-vital surgery (like shorter waiting lists, etc) then you should have the option to get it. Therefore, as a person who has experienced both Public and Private healthcare in Australia, I think we have developed the closest thing to a perfect healthcare system.
CybderDude93 6 months ago
@CybderDude93 Where do rights come from?
TravistheHuman 6 months ago
You lost me at 3:15. The bill has mandated that everyone *must* purchase insurance, so no...you can't just "buy" insurance *after* you become sick. By mandating that everyone must be covered, it effectively broadens the coverage base to include sick and healthy alike.

Why is anyone listening to this guy...he thinks using that very very scary word "socalism" should take you brain away...He is actually defending the INSURANCE COMPANIES...yeah give them more premiums so they can deny more claims...
jmac56264 9 months ago
A single payer system (whether it is from the gov or a contracted insurance company) would significantly drive down the cost of care, create better access to care, and significantly reduce the "middle man" which has been the big insurance companies making huge profits.
Health care should be a right not a commodity. Think of it as education. Every child has a right to be educated in public schools. They should have a right to care.
silksoymilk12349 9 months ago
@silksoymilk12349 Rights do not impose costs on others. Rights are preexisting conditions. Such as it is, the public school system in America sucks. Just look at those brilliant programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, The Post Office and the Pentagon....all broke or cannot account for losing billions of dollars. and you want to give this behemoth MORE money and power?
kev3d 8 months ago
In addition, the insurance companies are idiots with reimbursements. PCPs and specialists should get the same reimbursements in order to encourage preventive medicine which will drive down the cost of healthcare over all by decreasing the volume of curative care. The PCPs are suffering because of low reimbursements and too many patients while the specialists are liviing large with 2-3 times the reimbursements and a quarter of the patient load. Talk about setting the system up for failure.
silksoymilk12349 9 months ago
Mr Shiff,
The problem is access to care.

@Thereinliestherb: In addition. The problem with the majority of the Americans is that they worship 18th century values to much. Running a country of 4 million differs (1776) from running a nation of 300 million. (Today). As for the fat asses, just give the healthy ones a discount on the premium.
Kapellard 1 year ago
@Kapellard "Just give the healthy one's a discount..." What a load. That hardly justifies what they still lose in the bargain, a bargain in which they have no leverage and yet carry the most cost burden. Your principle could only justify charging the unhealthy more, and allowing healthy people to buy according to their own risk--as with every other form of insurance. Indeed. We should incentivize good health by disincentivizing irresponsibility--say, fast food and cigarette taxes.
thereinliestherib 1 year ago
@thereinliestherb. Let's stick to the facts. Per head, the US population spends twice as much on healthcare than the Germans. Yet every German has access to a great healthcare service. In the US most of the money spend arrives in the pockets of the insurance companies. In Germany the money is spent on real healtcare services. The Americans spend it on insurance. That is the difference.
Kapellard 1 year ago
@Kapellard "Let's stick to the facts." Your assertions are enormously erroneous, and they falsely assume that the respective populations are equal in terms of risk. American insurance costs directly correspond with the explosion in risk due to tanking health stats, and the claim that "most" HC money goes into insurance pockets is flimsy and unsupported. In fact, they happen to make their money by absorbing the overhead of such an unequal distribution of risk, supporting my argument.
thereinliestherib 1 year ago
What a b******* story. A modern economy needs a social health care system. Take a look at the biggest exporting economy in the world: Germany. An excellent healthcare system and the health costs per inhabitant are lower than in the US. The US is the biggest economy that survives totally on borrowing. That is the problem. 18th century thinking may not be the best way to lead the US to the future.
Kapellard 1 year ago
@Kapellard You're mistaken. You're argument requires the assumption that the populations you're comparing are equal in terms of risk. I don't know about you, but when I look around and all I see are unhealthy fatasses and smokers, I tend to believe that socializing these risks could only worsen our HC system and drag down economic productivity even further. US: 70% obese/overweight, 25% smokers, and ubiquitous drugs/alcohol use. How does Germany compare?
thereinliestherib 1 year ago
@thereinliestherib I have lived in Berlin and have some experience of the German healthcare system(from which most of the world, including the UK)could learn. In 1948 Germans were in a terrible state of health--lets remember that the deprivations of WWII came hard on the heels of WWI(when urban Germans were malnourished or even starving). Lifestyle healthvictims. Brtain was not far behind. SO in Europe we evolved a global Preventive medicine approach to raise the health of everyone. It works.
CobinRain 1 year ago

CobinRain 1 year ago
@CobinRain You're argument ignores the fact that the people you're talking about are hardly healthy. In fact, that the majority of Americans are so unhealthy has caused the explosive increase in risk that has contributed the most, by far, to our increasing HC costs. Quit class-baiting and wake up to the fact that an irresponsible lack of health, not some corporate conspiracy, is the reason HC is in such poor condition. Obamacare advocates are but industry shills.
thereinliestherib 1 year ago
@thereinliestherib Ah, I see. Rising healthcare costs are caused by the sick and the poor. I just knew it had to be their fault.
CobinRain 1 year ago
@CobinRain Sorry, but you're talking to someone who happens to be poor, healthy, and periodically uninsured. You can elevate the poor to an unassailable idol like another partisan hack, or you can counterargue the figures I've given you. The Obamacare mandate is explicitly designed to entrench corporate interests on the backs of the working, while all you shills can do is spout off anti-industry rhetoric about how enforcing personal economic rights means denying care for kittens and unicorns.
thereinliestherib 1 year ago
@thereinliestherib "Shill" "Hack"? I'm beginning to get the idea you dont like me. I mean, I'm not even an American(thank god). But here's how I see the situation: in America the overall spending on healthcare is more than double the UK but the outcomes are statistically similar. I cant help thinking that if the US spent only as much the UK, people in the US would be dying in the streets; and if the UK spent what the US spends we would(with our system)be the healthiest people in the world.
CobinRain 1 year ago
@CobinRain Exactly. If you'd ever looked at American health stats, you'd realize that our cost disadvantage is purely because of pool risk due to a less healthy population. Can you really look at the direct correlation between rising health costs and plummeting personal health statistics (obesity, smoking, etc), and not draw the appropriate connection? When you admit that personal risk is the driver of HC costs, independent of systemic influence, the left's HC argument disintegrates.
thereinliestherib 1 year ago
@CobinRain
Well, sick people cost more money, and poor people tend to be sicker. But the major origin of cost increases are government regulations that prevent competition in the healthcare market.
TimeWarp66 9 months ago
@TimeWarp66 I'd find your argument more compelling if I didnt know other countries and other systems. My own country has no competition in healthcare provision. And yet we live longer than you do, have better maternity and infant care/survival ratesthan you do(Time Magazine last week)and spend literally half, yes half, of what you do per capita on healthcare. Of course the poor need more healthcare. In civilised countries we concentrate on improving their health. We have a needs -based system.
CobinRain 9 months ago
@CobinRain
TimeWarp66 9 months ago
@TimeWarp66 Try to focus on what I am saying! British people DO have universal access to care according to need; it's free and free at the point of use. I've been using it all my life. I have also used the systems in France , Norway and Germany--v similar. The quality of care is high. 30% of Americans dont get doctors or operations at all because of the cost
Life expectancy is an excellent measure of healthcare. Our systems are full of health education programmes, periodic scans, support etc
CobinRain 8 months ago
@CobinRain I suppose NHS works so well, like here in Australia that there is no need for private insurance. Oh wait, there is. The public options suck and the waiting times are terrible unless you have private insurance. And of course, we have an indigenous population here with access to all healthcare and the dole...yet they live much shorter lives on average. So it is not so simple as you pretend.
kev3d 8 months ago

Singapore and Hong Kong have much better systems, much lower taxes and much more choice.
kev3d 8 months ago
@CobinRain And by the way, since when is something being "all about the money" a bad thing? Last I checked, computers were "all about the money" and they get better and faster and cheaper (comparatively) each year. Health is an engineering problem, plain and simple. The machines are complex but fixing them is, at the end of the day, a matter of removing or replacing bad elements with good ones. Funny that without govt. all other forms of technology thrive, while health costs increase.
kev3d 8 months ago
@CobinRain And lastly, have you ever considered why some Canadians opt for treatment in the U.S.? Or Australians go to Asia? A famous case had Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams fly to the US for a Heart Procedure. What a curious thing, if Canadian socialized medicine is so excellent.
kev3d 8 months ago

Hey Schiff, you do realize that most bankruptcies in America are cause by someones inability to pay for medical procedures.
You do realize that insurers having been dropping coverages, and hiking rates to insure their profit margin stays intact.
You do realize that this plan has given major subsidies to all insurance companies to insure people through this plan.
Quit crying. Nice library by the way. Nice suit too. Doesn't even appear that you would have a problem one way or another.

So I feel I should say that mostly I agree with your opinions.
dankfizzy 1 year ago
Yeah living in a society where everyone regardless of ability to pay gets healthcare..the old,the children, the poor..Yeah that really is evil. How dare we not follow the agenda based on maximising the profits of health insurer's..This dick here has never had a relative die due to having no money to pay for treatment..Socialised medicine is based around the idea that everyone's health and everyone's life matters..which is far more ethical than a system based on keeping a corporate ceo in luxury .

It doesn't increase the actual costs.
megarational 1 year ago
On the one had idiots like Schiff rail against h.c. reforms because it supposedly forces everyone to buy insurance, then on the other had say people can choose not to buy insurance.
What a contradiction.
megarational 1 year ago
I guess as someone who just entered medical school I kind of made a bad choice eh. I mean they can just make doctors slaves to the state and forced to serve people for free or lose their license. I can see it happening now. Not slaves, I mean indentured servants.
And of course, when that happens nobody smart will want to be a doctor anymore and we won't have competent doctors since the competition to get into med school will be non-existent. Well, I guess I'm screwed.

Health care is definitely a much better & fairer system because upper, middle and lower class are treated (relatively) equal. But of course this rich ass here doesn't want to give away even the smallest amount of his money and rather sees the poorer ones dying of serious illnesses.
Seriously, I wonder why many Americans are worried so much about health care when at the same time they live in constant fear of not being able to pay their hospital bills ...
indyany1 1 year ago
@indyany1 everyone wants health care reform, non-democrats just want to do it in a responsible way with less intrusion from the government. Schiff is saying that in the end the government will destroy more lives than save them under these policies b/c politicians do not understand fundamental economics. And yes, he is a very wealthy and intelligent man...good for him! Thanks for judging people based on their success. In your liberal views I understand that success somehow equates to a crime.
tonyg0123 1 year ago
@tonyg0123 If socialized healthcare destroys lives, why is it that every developed nation with socialized healthcare has healthier citizens and pay far less than we do per capita in health care expenses?
No one thinks success is a crime. We just realize that it's a fact that the family you're born into has a bigger influence on your future wealth than anything else - most people born wealthy die wealthy, and vice versa. So people who think the rich just worked harder are pretty stupid.

FAIL

KingLutherQ 1 year ago
apparently democracy is more costly lol
abc321566 1 year ago
@KingLutherQ Yes, the war costs too much but so does this health care. Most people's health problems are due to their own lack of judgement. i.e. they are either obese or have addiction issues, which, are poor decisions on THEIR part that THEY have to pay for. Why the hell are we punishing people who don't abuse themselves in the form of higher taxes and insurance just so people that don't care enough to exercise regularly or abstain from substances welch off the system?
henrylicious 1 year ago
@henrylicious
So two problems: 1) people aren't uninsured 2) people that are insured pay a high price.
lookit87 1 year ago
@lookit87 That is not the same as don't get sick. It's pretty much common knowledge that most lung cancers are due to people having a smoking habit. Most heart conditions are due to having a lousy diet or not exercising enough. Please explain to me why people that actually have the forsight & self control to not become addicts and to actually stay active should bear the burden for those that don't have the forsight to take care of themselves.
henrylicious 1 year ago
@henrylicious Yes, it is. I know that it is common knowledge that lung cancer and heart conditions have prior causes that have to do with a person's lifestyle but that is not all or even most, and that's why I asked for some statistics. Some people have a genetic predisposition to have body problems, so with little ingestion of harmful substances that anyone else would gladly take their body will take an even heavier toll than the rest. The current state of HC has a pool mechanism [cont'd]
lookit87 1 year ago
@henrylicious The current state of the health care system utilizes a pool mechanism so it's not an individual basis, the fact is, if your insurance plan insures people with diseases(the ones that according to you, lack foresight) you're going to have to pay for them one way or another. Since our Gross Domestic Product pays more for health care than any other civilized nation our economy is supporting the welfare of these irresponsible people, whether we like it or not. [cont'd]
lookit87 1 year ago
By the way, it's 'foresight'. I don't need to explain to you why people that don't become addicts should bear the financial burden of paying for someone else, that's just the way the private sector-ran health care system currently works. If it wasn't like that then the entire insurance structure would collapse.
