Hey, that DA Doug Velaska seemed almost giddy as he described the castle law. Wonder who's side he's on, the gun owner or the home invader?(it's a rhetorical question ok)
I love that district attorney, except when he says, "Don't break in the morning or night." So are you saying they should break in during the afternoon? lol
The only thing I am going to say here is....just make sure before you decide to pull the trigger that you are 100% willing to spend the rest of your life in litigations and debt. I do believe in self defense and if someone breaks into my house and is about to kill me, that person will be +P Hollowpointed. Just make sure that you have exhausted all other avenues first. This saying is only for people who have never been in that situation and have no clue about what happens afterward.
Kahdeersla is 100% right...not every state has laws that are reasonable..at one time I know that some states had a law that you have a duty to retreat.
I've buried people who surrendered everything they had to the robber. 1 in Florence, KY. Another in Memphis, TN. If you think putting your life in the hands of a criminal is a good idea then you're an idiot and I just hope that you don't leave loved ones behind to know what a fool you were.

He wasn't a criminal. He was visiting his ex and her kids, but was met by the new BF. May be this girl still had some ongoing relationship with him?

Entering by force though...not exactly a friendly visit.
If he called, and the woman said "No, don't come here" or something like that...it's home invasion.

Some states do actually vary the sentences for burglary and B&A depending on the time of day the action occurs.
