I am originally from the region of Azerbaijan (soviet) which is very close to Iran and we could watch their TV, though didn't understand the language. I remember I was watching an advertisement with shavers for women. My old grandma used to say, their women are prostitutes, they are shaving their armpits. :)) I want to say that Iran was very prosperious and modern country, I can even remember shah with his children watching fotoball matches.

what are you talking about man...she didn't die. we should celebrate her for continuing on. Her voice is still amazing...if not better.

and she's more needed now than pre-revolution since she's the custodian of iranian culture..at least a more progressive side of it.

the best video and performance of googoosh. her new albums and her new plastic face make me sad. in the seventies her works had more authenticity and more power. googoosh as singer died in 1979.

she was in usa when the revolution happend and she returned back while the other singers was leaving can u tell me why and why she the only one that taken her passport from her i think there s something strang

The reason she had her passport taken away from her was because she went back to Iran AFTER the revolution. When the revolution happened, there was a small window of opportunity for people to escape -- and they did with their passports or some other methods. Googoosh went back to Iran, and like many people (including my relatives) had her pre-revolutionary passport confiscated. She was also the biggest symbol of the prior regime because she was so famous. She stayed there for 21 years!!

No those are all rumors started by jealous people who hate Googoosh for her current success. After the revolution, Khomeini instituted a strict interpretation of Islam which made it illegal for all female singers to record or give concerts. Unlike many singers who left Iran for LA, Googoosh stayed in Iran in silence for 21 years until she was granted a passport to leave in 2000. She NEVER sang for Khomeini.

Trust me... this is the 70s (I grew up in Iran during this era and I remember it well). I'm not sure where this concert is. And yes, she was banned from singing from 1979-2000.
