Ok, first of all, Bush only suspended haebeus corpus on terrorists, terror suspects, and those who aided terror. Those animals shouldn't get haebeus corpus rights anyways. Secondly, he was by no means the first of the last President to do so in times of crisis. Lincoln, Wilson, FDR, Truman, and LBJ are at least 5 others that I know suspended haebeus corpus. Lastly, govt-controlled health care will not be cheaper or more efficient. It is impossible to expand coverage without rising costs.
Also you people need to read your history. The civil war was NOT initially about slavery. You can read lincoln's quotes before the war and he had NO intention of freeing the slaves. It was started over taxes and tariffs put on the south. Lincoln was hated during the war and the russians and french almost stepped in so lincoln freed the slaves to turn the war into a moral issue in order to gain support for the war. the emancipation proclamation only applied to the south when it was issued.
Untrue. The Civil War was all about slavery. It was couched as states rights, but the only right in contention was the right to buy and sell slaves. Regarding his personal beliefs, the line most quoted says something like if freeing slaves saves the union I'll do that; if keeping slaves saves the union I'll do that (paraphrasing here). What they usually ignore is the sentences surrounding that quote where it's pretty clear he found the practice repugnant.

What people don't realize is, if they cut their own budgets, amazingly money is available for other needs. Something the Government should learn as well.

I DON'T want to pay taxes to supply health care to someone who chooses NOT to get their own.
Every time someone without insurance goes to the ER to get health care they could get at a physician's office if they had coverage, the hospital eats that cost. Temporarily. Then they have to raise their prices. When their prices go up, your plan responds by raising your premium. You're paying for it already. I see nothing in the bill that controls who gets what kind of health care. Please direct me to that.

My brother, also a Marine, enlisted in 1998 and was stationed in Okinawa for 2 years, not much going on during that time frame. I'd like to know what unit he was with.

And all the other things you mentioned are not specifically associated with socialism which btw, in a various forms is still being practiced by a huge number of (west) European countries. You state that all polls are inaccurate simply because you believe they are, not because you have evidence proving they are inaccurate. As far as government programs working the way they should, you should talk to people who rely on medicare or social security. I'm not defending insurance companies, it's clear that some things need to be fixed. but not drastically changed like how Obama and fellow progressives want. cost need to be controlled, but we must keep it a private market, last time I checked insurance companies were a business just like any other business, it's what drives America. we should not kill the Free Market, we only need to fix it and enforce some stricter polices on those that have driven up the price way to far.

I believe in capitalism, However, Teddy Roosevelt was right in saying that corporations that do not work or act for the benefit of their customers, employees or the country should not be allowed to remain in business. You know as well as I do that Insurance companies deny claims for existing customers all the time as well as declining those with pre-exisitng conditions. By offering the Federal Govt's insurance plan to those who cant afford it through the private sector is competition.

Also, needless to say, the cost is much greater than if we just actually paid for it to happen in the right setting. In addition to the all-too-frequent case I just mentioned, there are tons of people who end up in the ER because they put off preventive care because they didn't have coverage, or split their meds in half to make it stretch to the next paycheck. WE WILL PAY FOR THIS. It's just a question of how much, and when.

If you were there at the Clark County, WA town hall meeting, Baird did say he is a doc and has read or had some staffers explain the bill to him. He also said that he was not going to vote yes if the whole bill was voted before the summer recess.

Ok, first of all, Bush only suspended haebeus corpus on terrorists, terror suspects, and those who aided terror. Those animals shouldn't get haebeus corpus rights anyways. Secondly, he was by no means the first of the last President to do so in times of crisis. Lincoln, Wilson, FDR, Truman, and LBJ are at least 5 others that I know suspended haebeus corpus. Lastly, govt-controlled health care will not be cheaper or more efficient. It is impossible to expand coverage without rising costs.

Also you people need to read your history. The civil war was NOT initially about slavery. You can read lincoln's quotes before the war and he had NO intention of freeing the slaves. It was started over taxes and tariffs put on the south. Lincoln was hated during the war and the russians and french almost stepped in so lincoln freed the slaves to turn the war into a moral issue in order to gain support for the war. the emancipation proclamation only applied to the south when it was issued.

Untrue. The Civil War was all about slavery. It was couched as states rights, but the only right in contention was the right to buy and sell slaves. Regarding his personal beliefs, the line most quoted says something like if freeing slaves saves the union I'll do that; if keeping slaves saves the union I'll do that (paraphrasing here). What they usually ignore is the sentences surrounding that quote where it's pretty clear he found the practice repugnant.

To all of those that are complaining about this man receiving socialist programs cuz he is a vet, you should rethink that. He earned those things by working for our armed services. No different than my employer that gives me health insurance and disability pay if I get hurt on the job. Its not welfare because it was part of his contract with his employer(the marine core). In other words he didn't get it for free; he worked for it. He is NOT being a hypocrite!

NO ONE is suggesting that people who have no insurance and suffer a catastrophic illness should not get health-care. NO ONE is with-out healthcare anyway. Hospitals are required BY LAW to treat people. The problem is, the LIBS want to CONTROL who gets what kind of health care; and control LIBERTY as the result. I DON'T want to pay taxes to supply health care to someone who chooses NOT to get their own.

Every time someone without insurance goes to the ER to get health care they could get at a physician's office if they had coverage, the hospital eats that cost. Temporarily. Then they have to raise their prices. When their prices go up, your plan responds by raising your premium. You're paying for it already. I see nothing in the bill that controls who gets what kind of health care. Please direct me to that.
