Cruise Critic: Norwegian vs Royal Caribbean Cruise Line

RCCL is better in my opinion. I'm going on Oasis 3rd March, 2012 and I'm really excited.

The service is amazing at RC and really, gotta give tip at Norwegian?

Also, RC have great program for children, I'm 12 and enjoy RC alot.

If you're in the 50 years and wanna relax I feel like Celebrity X Cruises or Norwegian is for you.

And btw lol, I'm norwegian =)

I agree that NCL is far better choice then RCI, or Carnival. I especially like the suites on NCL

If you are traveling with a group and you want to have dinner together, you cant. You have to walk down and make the reservation in advance and in person every night. On good cruise lines the parent can choose to allow his kid to check himself in and out of the kid program or not. On Nor. you dont have that choice, so the kids were trapped, and the program was terrible, so the kids never went back. Nor. has the smallest cabins at sea. The food at the 24 hour cafe is the worst at sea.

This might come off as sound like a jerk, but what is the point of taking a cruise? You're basically in a hotel room, only it's on a giant boat. I don't get it. If I am going on vacation, I can think of about 40 things I would want to do before taking a cruise.

We don't drink either, but find RC has a fun atmosphere and lots to do.

Norwegian is better if you want to relax and have a more quiet time.

Is RC good cruise for a couple (21 & 22)? We aren't the type that enjoys wine or beer. We're looking for anything on the ship to keep us entertained (buffet, sushi, water slide, shows etc.) We do not "party" but do not want it completely quiet when we go out on deck. Thank you in advance.

I just got off the mariner of the seas yesterday with royal caribbean and I loved it I think that goood service is number one when it comes to cruising.

On 29th Jan arr in Izmir walk off the ship & felt terrible returned to ship told cabin steward call the doc. Nobody had come to me, I went to get Imodium at hospital told me I an outbreak of Nor-walk Virus I was quarantined. Missed the important ports of call.I was told by the staff after the episode that the ship had outbreaks two voyages prior & the ship should have been cleaned. I  would never recommend NCL & I am a travel advisor. They do not reply to complaints.

Norwegian is co-owned by 2 companies. One is Star Cruises (orient based company) the other is Apollo Management (an investment company).

Norwegian did invent the "Free Style" food concept. What you may not know is that this concept has been adopted by Royal Carribean (RCCL). As noted in the video, the service and the food are better on RCCL.

I need to try the Free style cruiseing. I might need to cheak Norweign out. I love free style is because you can eat anytime you want. Because on the Carnival Sensation I was stayed up late on the first night and the second night we went to the dinning room I was tired and everything. But rccl I dont remember alot because It has been about 2years scence 07
