The War Between the States was about State's Rights being tread on by the Federal Government, particularly by Congressmen and Senators from Northeastern States who were no more than drunks in Washington. President Lincoln finally realized it 1 year into the war and then made it a war about ending slavery, which actually demoralized the Northern troops and the war continued almost another 3 years. Democrat James Buchanan started the war and could have prevented it.
