Supposedly the elements affect Olimar by stunning him. Although his suit is capable of absorbing the damage, Louie is on the Titan Dweevil and "knows Olimar's weakness."

It wont do any damage but is capable of wasting enough time for you to get mired down not have any time to save Pikmin caught up in the destructive force.

for those that want to try and get the treasures without losing too many pikimins, here what i think the order should be when you are fighting him:

1. go for the water cannon (since it can also attack the pikmins that is in the other group[use yellow])

2. the eletric shocker (since it could instance death for every other pikmin beside yellow).

3. the poison smog (it has a longer range than the inferno cannon [white])

4. the inferno cannon (short range [use red])

5. kill it with purple pikmin.

this guys smart when you fight him you should use only yellow pikmin for 2 reasons. one they can reach his parts better and 2 the electricity can kill pikmin instently all other attacks you can just call them back.

Although it is speculated that Louie controlled Titan Dweevil; if you defeat it, rescue Louie and do not take any of the treasures back...

you can still fight Titan Dweevil with all 4 weapons/treasures without Louie on it's back. Some might say this isn't canon to the story, but i think it shows Louie might not have been controlling it (at least not 100% lol)

@sieghart3034: since the game saves on every sublevel you should restart when there's a large drop in your pikmin party. All bulbax have three major weaknesses:

stun by falling Purple pikmin,

getting a poisonous white pikmin, or

getting sprayed by the Ultra Bitter Spray (aka the purple spray)

small problem with this fight is once you've beaten it and looted it you can't come back and fight it properly, that annoyed me cos i was gonna try without using purely yellows use Yellows as you can hit it during all stages because they can fly higher, like this guy

the most annoying one for knockback is being right in the middle of the fire cone thing. you cant get up and you can only watch your pikmin die.

i think pikmin1's Progg and emporer bulblax were both harder, still all fun.

I am going to disagree with you, respectively. Emperor Bulblax was harder in the first one, but in this one it is easier due to Purples. Progg however is very tricky he is all strategy if you think he is hard, use blues and attack his head only. My two hardest were the queen who rolls around not sue what she is called, and my second one is this guy, I tried once but never beat him.

Remember, spraying purple pikmin makes them faster, but it also makes them weaker. In this fight, that's not really what you want.

I think the best way is to come in and beat it with 100 yellows, and come back later for the treasure. I did this and lost no pikmin. Electricity is the most dangerous element because you can't save pikmin from it, it's an instant kill, so yellows are very helpful. And you can throw them higher to the weapons.

I brought 25 pikmin of each color to fight him. i failed miserably. then i brought 50 yellow pikmin. i dominated without losing a single pikmin. And the first time i didn't get any treasures. YELLOW PIKMIN RULE!!!

P.S. I wish that the yellow pikmin could still pick up bombs like in pikmin 1. I lost 20 before just attempting to pick up a bomb with yellow pikmin.

Here's a tip: you can use Purple Sprays to catch your breath, you can't harm parts while he is sprayed, but you can use it to get away or to rescue any 'mins that fall into the arena.

This is REALLY good to know if you try to beat him with 1 Purple.

Even if you have the upgrade (Shock Absorber) you get in there the electricity will still stun/hurt you. This includes the fire weapon as well.

I always take the flamethrower out first, I find it 10x more annoying than the electric-thing or pump. If you're in the middle of it, you'll constantly be knocked down by it, and it will be impossible to save your burning Pikmin.

I think that Emperor Bulblax was a harder boss, not saying that this boss wasn't hard though, but Emperor Bulblax was hard in the sense where you had to think about what you were doing, this boss was a hit and run boss, which usually takes a long amount of time for anyone to beat. Emperor Bulblax took awesome intense amount of thinking, timing, and skill, and even if you had that you probably would have Pikmin dying. This boss you just needed patiences, and skill too, but this boss looks vicious
