Aren't fear and anger useful emotions as well? What if I were speaking with someone and felt an intuitive feeling of fear of this person because of the way they were acting or things they were saying.Nothing definitive, just a feeling.Wouldn't it be more appropriate to act on those feelings rather than accept it and act lovingly towards them?

@tet43 That's an important point you are making but the difference is in what continues to be felt in your body.  We have a warning system to protect us but we aren't intended to remain in fear. You become aware of the feeling so you can take appropriate actions. Once danger passes, it's important to go back to a state of coherence-peace and calm where your body and brain are functioning optimally. I used to live with fear and anxiety all the time-it wasn't because of a present danger.

I know you meant well and you are a nice person and your experience is valid. Your testimony is hard to refute by any religious doctrine if you had that love experience. But even in religious beliefs we are warned to test any experience no matter how good it is if it came from God because the other side can imitate what is good and thereby blurred an objective truth

If a person is not a believer in Christ, when they die, they are often approached by demonic forces. These can appear as an angel of light. There similar message is always "love". They will Never tell one that God is Light and in Him there is NO darkness, that man is fallen, and cannot stand in Gods presence unless the sacrifice of His Son has given them the forgivness nessesary to do so. During my NDE, after interfacing with the White Light, I experienced complete darkness, but I felt it was symbolic, rather than hell. I took away from it that we cant truly know anything (like love) until we experience the absence of it. Maybe that's why we live in this physical realm that seems to be devoid of the Light. When the White Light returned, I couldn't contain myself. Like a bug that draws closer to a lamp, I wanted to get as close as possible... merge with it even.

I wonder what your thoughts are on the importance of Truth and Knowledge in gnostic or illuminist traditions, as well as mystery schools such as Rosicrucianism. Or, the Kabbalistic traditions. Sister - this is a beautiful account. I don't consider it at odds with the message of Christ Jesus. The beauty of your experience is that in the presence of the Holiness of God, you acknowledged your own inadequacy. This is consistent with the experience of everyone I know who has had similar experiences in the presence of God. Isaiah has this experience in Isaiah 6, for example. Loved what you had to say, but I have to say some people don't know what love feels like, they've never felt it. I was born into a family that didn't show love and I had to wait till I was 24 to have just one small experince to carry me through my life as a memory.

It's difficult to explain what I believe in a few words but when I died, heaven was more of a feeling than a place. I saw that by learning how to feel love for myself and others, I would have access to that feeling of bliss that was better than anything I have ever felt. I want that feeling again, and I think I will have it again by allowing love into my life. Love is Light. Fear, anger etc, keeps me in the dark and away from that great feeling that was so hard to describe.

However, it seems your experience was at odds with Christian teaching in matters not of ethical and behavioral commandments for the earth life, but the specific "post-life" process. Instead of judgment and conviction, you see self-assessment and self-correction. Rather than hell, you see only spiritual acceptance and forms of remission of the "sins" or character issues displayed in life. I wonder whether there isn't more in common than at odds with christian "truth".

I guess I don't understand your comments that your experience was so at odds with the organized religion you were taught (which I assume to be a Christian sect). I know of no Christian denomination that would argue with the central tenet of your experiential NDE lesson: love thy neighbor; love thy enemy; fear not; judge not; don't worry; exhibit compassion; forgive your trespassers; be true to yourself. These were the central themes of Jesus' ministry as well. No incongruity.

I didn't mean to imply that all organized religions or people in positions of authority intended to instill fear as a method of bringing out the best. Some people in my life did use fear of consequences rather than love as the persuasion to gain the desired behavior. That was my PERCEPTION. My experiences created the filters I viewed life through. I am quite sure there are many messages of love that come from the pulpit. My impression today is different than what it was at the time.

I agree. So many people...being people...get scriptures wrong. I even have to chuckle once in a while about stern and serious Christians I encounter. Did you know Jesus almost commanded people to cheer up and relax and stop worrying? When he'd find negative attitudes among the apostles, you can almost feel his admonishment of their natural human fears and doubts. Anyway, thanks for sharing your story. What you're saying about fear and love affecting strawberries makes sense when you think about how they say people die sooner when they are alone and depressed as opposed to those who have loved ones and/or loving pets in their life. LOVE is the answer.
