Your not so screwed as the countries with far greater history. Look at China - 5000 years and what - communism. The nation of Georgia is one of the former republics of the USSR, and it is centered in the Caucasus Mountains between the Black and Caspian seas. It has NOTHING to do with the American state of Georgia. Finally, if Bush stays out of the conflict, the US will be safe. There is no way that America is going to get into this conflict. We have no nation that would back us against Russia & China. There is no way to even begin to build what is needed for a conflict like this at a moments notice. There is no way on God Green Earth we would even think of using nukes, knowing what nukes are out there now in the hands of nations that would use them against us. It's just not going to happen.

North Ossetia is located in Russia and wants to reunite with the South Ossetians, which they also would like. They have declared their independence and Georgia refuses to acknowledge it.
