Hey I'm a fifteen year-old interested in learning the accordion. this summer i plan to get a job in order to purchase one (preferably a chromatic accordion). However i can not find a teacher, . Do you know any teachers (in the San Antonio TX area) or know how i could get in touch with one of them? Also do you recommend any websites or stores that i could buy an accordion? you sound great and i would appreciate your advise.
@koolaidbird2 hey man, if I were you and looking to buy an accordion, I would check out some pawn shops or thrift shops like goodwill. sometimes they'll have some fairly cheap accordions that would be good for you to get started on. but remember to be careful what you buy, and try out all the keys and buttons while extending and compressing the bellows each way, and turn it upside down and around to listen for parts that might have fallen off inside to make that there's nothing wrong with it.
Fantastic! Great!. Marvellous! Unique! By the way of music I want to show you what musicians of Brazil and Argentina and Paraguay are doing in folklore music with a accordion and other musical instruments. If you want, please search for these 3 videos, really interesting, special and awesome:
- Voninho e Marcelo
- Tio Mederico- Dvd Os Serranos 40 anos- Sempre Gaúchos
- CHANGO SPASIUK EN FORMOSA KILOMETRO 11 -10/10/2009 (4)
Mr. Newton, I purchased one of your books about 5 years ago. I play for retirement centers, Saturday farmer's markets, beer fests etc, I have played several of your songs from one of your books and the talking stops. I hope I interpret them as you have written. I have a CD that came with the book and it was most definitely helpful. Thank you so much. Everyone listens. I am glad I found you on You Tube to watch you live. Thank you.....
They say the B system is better to play technically challenging pieces versus the C system where is easier to play chords. For me, the B system seemed to be more logical. Looks to me more C system players in the US though.
agree with you Andrew. I began to play the C system, later the B and now I play the B and the C because I very like (to "purifie" my mind :-) the sound of one of my accordions and this one is a B system; but for "musette" I prefer italian accordions C system. Chromatism is easier with B system.
I don't know if you've been helped in a year, but Petosa's accordions (as seen in video) are fine quality. I get mine repaired there. It's been a family business for years and they know their accordions.
B-griff rocks! I'm working on learning it. I have played piano accordion for years, and now I'm stretching out a little and trying chromatic. Tough to find method books or teachers though! Wish I could find some! Gotta go it alone, and it's not easy! You are inspiring! Thanks!
by Friedrich Lips The art of Bayan playing. its on english an there is some usefull info in it, although the best way is to experiment, and keep what works loose what dosn't. Good luck!
I was under the impression that the C-griff was more common in West Europe and the United States...however, many American accordionists in these youtube videos seem to be using B-griff. I'm about to purchase a chromatic accordion so that I can move from a piano accordion to a chromatic...should I get C or B-griff?

I am trying to decide between a B and a C system. I think you play B. Can you tell me why you prefer it?

wow thanks,
I would more then likely be using it for jazz, avantango music, like Pablo Aslan, with a mixture of Pat Methany.
So I would need something with few limitations as well as tunings in A 440.

Awesome, I love it,
Im actually thinking of buying an accordion after watching all these videos, looks like a great instrument.

depends of what music you wanna play...
i play mostly balcan and italian music..
