  • lol :-)

  • Artista. Sin más.

  • verdasco would be my 2nd favorite player ever (after djokovic) if he weren't such a choker. his technique is flawless, but his head.... sigh

  • @dxuhuang Seriously? Cuz Novak is known for keeping his head on straight...

  • He hits the ball way out in front

  • He is using a Semi-Western grip. I cannot understand why this guy has not won more often. His game is complete. Obviously, it must be mental.

  • Mr forehand!!

  • cristiano ronaldo of tennis

  • of course that no!, i want so say that he haven´t got mental force. i am not english and i don´t know the correct word

  • verdasco can be a top 5,but he has a mental problem

  • @jax51292 is he retarded?

  • This will be my next hairstyle :D

  • Easily among top 3.

  • The key to his forehand is his package. Watch that first forehand

and see how much package power he puts into it!! He's blessed

and the ladies must love him.

  • @cys12141 He doesn´t lock it Cys. At the furthest back point of the loop, his elbow is straight. There, he initiates the kinetic chain with body rotation, arm swinging from the shoulder. The elbow starts completely straight so it doesnt contribute in strength generation until wrist supination maxes. Then as he swings further forward he regains the flexibility of his elbow. He doesnt bend it a lot, just enough to allow his forearm to pronate. He actually hits low contacts with the elbow bent.

  • his forehand is a splitting image of Fed's, except that he doesn't catch his racquet with his free hand.

  • @cys12141 I dont think so. Fed moves the arm closer to the body, more like a pendulum than like a slingshot. He also keeps his elbow bend for longer. I am certain that Verdasco has consistency problems because of his wild swing. Long long practice patches this up, but as an example to imitate, I dont think he is the one.

  • @antonarap I don't think so. Fed almost always keeps his elbow locked when hitting a forehand just like Verdasco. But Verd may have a longer backswing than Fed.

  • skurwysynu - forhandem sobie lepiej pierrrdolij w ten pojebany łeb!

  • mate what a legend (:

  • His hairstyle reminds me of Modern Warfare 2's SOAP! xD

  • Shame he's struggled so badly this year

  • no...donn't like his hair in this vid..but definitley thumbs up as player..:)

  • wtf since when did he have a mohack

  • This is why he has one of the biggest forehands... that arm extension!

  • @The909Tennis you are so right !!!!

  • I love the fact that his forehand extends fully unlike some pros.

  • dam thats some topspin and so fluid

  • what grip does verdasco use?

  • @scoutdecomx I think it´s a western grip

  • @joserra79

    It's semi

  • i think its a semi western

  • because you said it's different cuz it's reliable?

that gives the notion of saying other strokes are not reliable lol

  • i love his forehand its different because its a reliable one

  • @Ralzaly lol are you saying roger's is not reliable

  • @qkreotjd where does roger come into this?

  • Wow Verdasco has a really high-loop backswing. I like his forehand. It's nice to watch.

  • I would give my left ball to have his forehand

  • Id rather have Tsonga's forehand and safins backhand, nadals mental state and Verdasco's fitness.

  • Very nice. Or Gonzalez' forehand, Djokovic's backhand, Johnny Mac's volleys, Sampras' serve, Federer's movement, and Nadal's mental toughness...

  • @previous post... Nadal and federer both have straight arm forehands.

  • is it a good way to hit a forehand with completly straight arm as he does? Nadal for example doesn't, I'm not sure about federer... what do you think?

  • It is natural for some people, such as myself. You just have to make sure to relax your arm in order to prevent tension in your shoulder. The trick to getting the straight arm forehand is to hit the ball out in front of you as far as possible; Verdasco's forehand is powerful because it uses both the power of the straight arm and the wrist to give the ball extra spin. The only problem with the straight arm forehand, from my experience, is the variety of mishits and getting under the ball enough

  • thx for your reply, I think I'll try it one time :)

  • hey

    MrKerosene17

u r right.. but what i dont get is why cant rafa nadal copy this forehand.. i mean, i know hes been trying, but he doesnt straight arm enuff, and thus most of his FH shots are cross court. With a verdasco (aka gonzo roger, lendl, sampras FH) rafa will be unstoppable.

  • @zzzzsh I think Rafa is doing well. He has an extreme grip, which is why he can't imitate these forehands. But I think his forehand is fine like it is.

  • he is awesome... his haircut too

  • its continental :O

  • @dieguiitolp he is a lefty so its semi

  • my opinion is that verdasco is the best player in the whole world

    so the video is pefect

  • so fluid.......... a perfect balance of spin adn drive........... Registered BAD ASS

  • @Rickybb1 He looks good but he never wins anything in major tournaments..

  • he hits very hard

  • he hits it completely like federer and nadal head and eyes on ball and arm completely stretched

  • more like federer than nadal. Nadal finishes over his head (usually lasso) whereas federer and verdasco finish usually rounf their body/waist and sometimes over their shoulder.

  • he looks looks arod there

  • Lol! That is exactly what I thought as well

  • is it me or the grip his using is a tad small?

i dun see much gap when he hits the forehand.

  • he holds it higher up

  • I think that Verdasco has an amazing forehand... In my opinion one of the best

  • ur world rank please? lol

  • w/e hobo

go speek your gibberish in hobo world

  • He uses a semi western grip like Federer, but because of his swing motion he hits with more topspin. Its a very fluid motion nonetheless.

  • urm, federer uses an eastern grip, his knuckle and heel pad rest on the third bevel of the grip, verdasco is semi-western as his rest on the fourth

  • @aHHARAT ur dumb

  • this is talent jejej amazing

  • verdasco mite not be world number 1,be he's my number 1 he's the best tennis player ever and he has a wicked forehand!

  • Its a semi western, his knuckle is on the fourth bevel

  • looks eastern or semi

    totally bad haircut

  • he definitely doesnt have an eastern forehand grip. ppl say he puts almost as much spin on the ball as nadal. u cant do that with an eastern grip. he has something in between a western and a semi western

  • unbelievable technique

  • does anyone like this guy's hairstyle? thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  • He uses a semi-western forehand. You can tell the grip best by the way they follow through. Compare this to Federer's eastern follow through and you'll see the difference.

  • he doesnt use eastrn, he uses western.

  • it's definitely not western, it's eastern, hybrid eastern-semi western, or semi western. If it was western then his hand would be on the bottom of the racket when he hits the ball.

  • i´m not sure which grip he uses western of eastern??? can you FYB give me the answer???¿

  • i heard he uses eastern tho

  • Sebastien Grosjean is another prime example of extreme western grip.

  • Semi. Don't look at the swing shape or what the racquet face does, that's tangential. Look at the grip in close up!

  • Can anybody explain why he is always hitting off the back foot? Because of the stance?

  • Hes not really hitting off the back foot...kinda He is lifting his front leg so that he can rotate his body more. It is off the back foot, but his body is still moving foreward

  • modern straight arm forehands players tend to do that.. gives u more rotation which gives more more and spin... nadal does that too

  • NICE FOREHAND

  • I agree... best looking FH on the tour IMHO

  • Nice vid.

    Good Work !

  • nice vid. shouda put hd in der too....

nice hairstyle i love it =p

    just cos u noobs dont....

  • Woooh Yeah Baby, Excellent Forehand, I like his the best out of the top 20

  • I lol'd at the hair.

  • I think that his grip is between semi and western. Fereder's grip is a semi western.

Notice how Verdasco pulls toward the ball and literally whips well in front his body.

Result? Great acceleration and plenty of topspin.

    (Sorry for my english).

  • Your English is fine. It is semi-western grip. Fed's is eastern. No one has a western grip. It's a myth.

  • I play western :(

    Im a noob tough

  • djokovic has a western.

    kuerten had a western.

  • no one has a western?...Rafael Nadal

  • Rafa has Semi-Western. Have a close look. It's his wrist angle that makes it look extreme.

  • He has a slight variation on some of his strokes due to change of grips but the forehand in general, the way the racquet face wraps around his body is definitely extreme western.

  • rafa has more of western grip

  • nadal has western even the tv announcers and tennis analyst agree its western

  • its not western its semi

  • beautiful forehand thanks fyb

  • great video,thank you

  • His hair is very strange.

I find it good but the not shaved hair is too long

  • huge forehand! no match for federer though.

  • when I saw this guy practicing last year in Miami I asked myself "with that forehand, he should be rank higher" ... well this year he is.

  • Killer forehand..So beatiful and fluid. Some great stuff really

  • freakin cool mohawk

  • which Adidas trainers is he wearing?...

  • His Forehand looks like Federer's forehand swing. I think the grip is about the same as well.

  • beautiful
