  • Sure, the movie was far more fictional than it could have been, or should have been. But, Kilmer's performance as Morrison was jaw-dropping. How many people do you know who can mimic Morrison to perfection?

  • It is this movie that made me realize that oliver stone is an ass who does not know anything about the doors. he portrayed jim morrison like a total failure. This movie sucks so much I have no words to describe it...

  • I didn't like this movie. They exagerated too much with the whole story. Prefer "When You're Strange" way better. It may be just a documentary, but it tells it the way it happened.

  • Ya know Val Kilmer is not good enough to lick Jim's bag right. I remember this happening as a kid and seeing it on the news. We used to bomb the local college station with calls to play a block of the Doors on friday nites.

  • Who did Val Kilmer use as his character model for Jim Morrison?... Michael Hutchence or what? Oliver Stone's a shocking film maker.

  • appalling! go to the source

  • State obscenity laws? He said one swear word. And that's much worse than some dickhead cop that maced him?

  • This movie made Jim Morrison look like a sick person, he may have done all those things but the movie exagerated everything in this movie. I like this movie but its not what really happened.

  • after his lame Batman's act didn't know what would he be in the Lizard King's role. But as Jim Morrison he was so cool! He's back on my favorites! The Doors is the greast band of all time, they knew how to make real music

  • Val Kilmer BECAME Jim Morrison in this movie. Jims mannerisms, way of talking, way of singing, EVERYTHING. I"ve only seen two actors do this with this much conviction...the other being Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman.

  • @ViralVideoCriticBeta you should see the movie "Control" and "Walk the Line". Those actors perfectly play Ian Curtis, lead singer of Joy Division, and Johnny Cash

  • @iamobeliskquake Yeah, I seen Walk the Line before. Never heard of "Control"...have to check it out. Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles in the movie "Ray" was pretty good.

  • @ViralVideoCriticBeta youre going to have to get associated with Joy Division before you watch Control. BTW, their main inspiration was The Doors. you can easily hear the impact that Jim Morrison had on Ian Curtis

  • glad im not deaf in my left ear

  • that movie didnt cut it for me

  • that was fucking priceless! ahaaha! yet every bit of it was'nt really so suprising to me. awesome!

  • where the fuck is his oscar?

  • What the fuck did Jim do?? Stupid ass police!!

  • what was the song that it was playing??????????

  • @ShaqFlims Backdoor man

  • I hate this movie, and so does ray manzarek..

  • I loved this movie. It's just a pity they focused on portraying Jimbo as douche bag, which is not true.

  • fuck the police. COMING STRAIGHT FROM THE UNDERGROUND.

  • What movie is this?

  • Oh this was a really good bio pic. All the Guys look just like the actual band.

  • See...I like the bio pics of the 90's and 80's because they were somewhat accurate, down to the looks of the characters. Bio pics of the day lack greatly. They have actors who look nothing like the stars their potraying reenact situations that more likely than not are based on the fantasies of the biased writer. Whether the writer be fund or disgusted by the star he is attempting to display. And the music of the stars in the bio pic is always shitty and sounds nothing like the Original star's.

  • @noblesiner That's not allways a bad thing (the actors, I mean). Have you seen "I'm not there", about Bob Dylan? It's fucking great, and he doesn't say the name "Bob Dylan" even once. See it and you'll understand.

  • they make john densmore, robby krieger and ray manzarek look like the nerds in freshman year in highschool the first time someone comes to class stoned

  • I do not think that jim morrison was at all like he was depicted in this film he looks so violent and agressively drunk or cliche-stoneresque

  • underSTAND

  • They couldn't have found a better actor to play Morrison...

  • i love marijuana :)

  • @MrEman51 weed and the dorrs is a great combo

  • great

  • God this is bad.

  • Best role of Val Kilmer

  • idk almost seems like they mixed this up with the miami incident. and how did everyone hear that guy in the crowd? :/

  • should have got a damn Oscar, he song the damn songs himself even

  • ray manzerek hates this flick

  • He was HOT HOT HOT in this movie! This is one of my favourite scenes in The Doors. His performance is really spot on and i really liked the song.

  • it was this film that make me discover the doors

  • what song is this??

  • @BritRock93

    Back Doors man

  • @creedveins backdoor man

  • @BritRock93 backdoor man

  • This was a good but crazy concert

  • I was at the Clemency Board meeting on Thursday it was quite interesting. Please watch the 3 part video I have put together to see how the Pardon happened.

    Thank you, Mr. Mojo Risin.

  • @liburnmafia

    fuck you men

    nothing compares with morrison

he is the only and the best

    kilmer is just an actor

    so fuck you stupid asshole

  • Uhm... Could.. Could i... Could i just have maybe just one of those joints that were thrown onto the stage?

  • la interpretacion de Val Kilmer fue sencillamente sobrervbia. No estuve muy de acuerdo con el guion, que mostraba la parte mas oscura de Morrison... pero el trabajo de Kilmer fu esobresaliente.

  • Believe it or not, it was 'cause of this movie I started listening to the Doors music...

  • pigs

  • Citizens, do you know that there are rapists on the police force?

  • Death to the pigs!!!

  • I wouldent like to be a cop that night XD

  • FUCK GOOGLE ADS

  • Loved the film It was hard to watch at times but I loved it

  • what is the song called?

  • @TheBeatle65 backdoor man

  • this movie sucks

    this is not jim morrison

    stupids asholes

  • @ivanpumitanomemories I agree. Not the most accurate depiction of one of America's greatest poets.

  • @ivanpumitanomemories Fuck you, Val Kilmer is the next best thing.

  • val did a great jobs jim, but oliver stone f***ed up the movie

  • This movie is an insult to the legacy of the doors.

  • @diliei no, I think he hate more the people who seems to know the truth, as you. Anyway Jim will never die, he will be always alive, you will be forgotten in a moment. What is more delusional?

  • @diliei no, I think he hate more the people who seems to know the truth, as you. Anyway Jim will never die, he will be always alive, you will be forgotten in a moment. What is more delusional?

  • I absolutely hate the movie in that of the portrayal of Jim, but I deeply respect Val Kilmer's acting and dedication to the essence that was the shell Jim Morrison.

  • @eightysworst u hate that they showed the true disillusioned asshole that he was?

  • I, m a fanatic of The Doors, and discovered the thanks to the film, so .... I think it was a personal and artistic vision of Oliver Stone towardes Jim Morrisson. Not a comercial rock n roll hollywood film. I think ther´s a lot of Oliver Stone on that Jim ( self-destructive artist against his society). See JFK, Salvador, Born in the 4 of July, and you will find a similar type charcater, I think it´s the vision of Stone. Maybe that´s not the Doors, but i respect the film.

  • dude i agree with lizard king they show jim as a asshole rocker trying to get famous but he just wanted people to see what poetry means

  • None biography movie is correct. But Oliver Stone should have researched better about Jim Morrison and his "gang". This movie wasn't so faithful with its real story about one of the most important rock groups of the wolrd. Whereas, I liked this movie a lot, despite it all!

  • what he said was, "a little blue man, in a little blue hat, a little blue pig"

  • Not only Jim, he was also Batman and Moses!

  • lulz

  • He didnt play the charecter of Jim very well after reading Break on Through and Riders on the storm he seems totally different

  • persian nitee baby.....See the lihgt baby.....savee us ...jesus....Save us...jesus...

    Morrison You Da Man !!!

  • I remember the first time i got arrested. Said somthing the officer didnt like he then smashed my face onto the hood of his car. Long hair had something to do with it.

  • @56BUICKRiviera first time? were there others? :D

  • sort of.Drinking helped

  • nobody can impersonate jim morrison. nobody.

  • most people who dont listen 2 the doors prob just see morrison as a drunken fucked up high on whatever kind of guy...

im not saying he wasnt 2 certain extent,

but its only when you listen to him talking or hear his poetry that it hits you what a deep and intellectually complex guy he was

    RIDER

  • when youre strange isnt a remake its an actually documentary most of the things in this never happened

  • come on...Val Kilmer did a lunatic, drunk, high and over depressive Jim Morrison. Of course Jim was depressed, but not like that. Jim was a sweet guy. What happened is that we don't see Jim in the movie, but a new guy/caracter, that we just love. Go check videos with the real Jim Morrison...you don't see him with that atitiude "i don't give a fuck" all the time....Johnny Depp besides look more like Jim, have the Morrison's atitude in life...just check some interviews.

  • @VitorVitoriaBaia site your sources

  • Val Kilmer did an outstanding job portraying Morrison,He even sang the songs

  • You People are fuckin pathetic ,

    Val PLAYED FUCKIN ACTED Jim

With out Jim Morrison there would never have been the Doors or a movie for you lot to complain about ...

  • no laws no limits

  • it's Jim Morrison himself from the 'Absolutely Live' recording: the scream at the start, Oliver Stone is a great Writer/Director< I only hope he has something to do with the remake.

  • i wanna play jim as a kid in the remake

    lol

  • like, if they went through his whole life, i wanna be the highschool working hard but starting to not care Jim.

  • @dave8594 id like to be in the "remake" but too bad im not white :(

  • @esperantomusica remake?

  • @carlosperezvidal asi es

  • everything about this film was corny beyond belief. the writing, the performances, the direction, everything. cornball stew

  • AGREED!

  • maybe johnny depp could play jim morrison better...no?

  • val kilmer did a pretty good iconographical representation of him actually. I read an interview with one of the doors members and they met Kilmer in character and thought they were talking to Morrison lol. Too bad the movie turned out to be something than they expected.

It wasn't a real biopic, it was more like some guy from the sixties exaggerating and over over over glorifying, (well not over glorifying morrison kicks ass) or capturing his 'essence' in a charachture, with loose historical ref

  • ya deff not johnny depp has no where near the peronality of jim morrison...kilmer couldnt have aplayed a better one

  • Well Kilmer deffinately could have done a better job, but it was Oliver Stone's sadistic little move to have Val play jim as a drunken child. Fuck oliver stone, man.

  • @PsychoNick420 that's why it's called acting. Johnny Depp isn't a fucking pirate either but he plays a hell of a Jack Sparrow.

  • @AntiHeroSkateboardss Johnny Depp is grossly overrated. Somehow people are under the impression that he needs to play every single musician in a biopic.

  • @helloolleh555 Have you seen "when you're strange" Johnny depp narrated that beautifully

  • @AntiHeroSkateboardss I saw it on Netflix and he did a beautiful job narrating that film. My issue is with the fact that his name is always mentioned whenever a new music biopic goes into production.

  • @helloolleh555 I agree with you that his name is brought up too much. And I'm not saying I'd pick him over Val, but if it wasn't for Val Kilmar I would've wanted johnny depp to play jim

  • @PsychoNick420 but Johnny didnt play him. he narrated the movie

  • anything is better with johnny depp

  • lool people say he look like anikan skywalker wtf?

  • haaa theres are somany inacuracies in this part and the movie

  • Val Kilmer did a great job playing Jim Morrison. But time has not been kind to him. He doesn't look handsome anymore.

  • @JoanneGlasspoole Time fucks up our faces. It will be ok though, good men and women will love you for what's inside.

  • @GordonFr33man i hope so,stupid females dont love me for who i am,eventhough i always have been a gentlemen with them.

  • @JoanneGlasspoole He's actually 71 now. Cut him some slack.

  • @JoanneGlasspoole I am not sure how old you are but im afraid to inform you, time has that effect on everyone...Duh...

  • @signogun why?

  • @JoanneGlasspoole kilmer did a good job but i didn't like the direction stone took, jim couldn't communicate in the movie without saying one of his poems, morrison was a very intelligent person and they made him seem like he was on a 24/7 acid trip which wasn't true. they really only showed one side of him.

  • @JoanneGlasspoole thats the trick by gettin' older ...

  • @JoanneGlasspoole Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder!!!

  • @JoanneGlasspoole when is time ever kind?

  • wow epic

  • val should be in rock music..........not acting.

  • i know this sounds crazy but i kinda like the way kilmer sings this song better

  • you're right...that does sound crazy

  • Yeah your crazy dude...

  • Damn val kilmer is the man

  • that would have been so damn annoying if everyone really yelled "Light My Fire!" as much as they do in this.

  • bull shit on posting this as doors...

  • why? the film is called the doors

  • ya, this isnt real. i saw the movie :P

  • Val is actually pretty good then if thats really him singing

  • Yeah, in the short shots, it is him singing. In the long shots, it is the real Morrison. His voice was so similar, you couldn't tell the difference.

  • Yeah it actually is him singing.

  • aro1323:

Val is singing; this is no "overdub."

He really nailed the part; in every sense of the word.

    =)

  • Val is singing the song yes but the opening 'scream' is Jim from the absolutely live version of the song.

  • was meant to be as dead on as pssible.with that said if u arent a jim fan 4 real, dnt make any comments like u know shit.LOL yaaaaayahh!!!

  • The opening scream on this is taken directly from the Doors ABSOLUTELY LIVE album. The rest of the song Val sings himself..

  • Man listen to the ABSOLUTELY LIVE version then this one, its creepy the resemebelce

  • Yes As I stated, the opening scream on the movie was lifted from the absolutely live album. It is the exact same thing to a tee.

  • ImAlwaysNaked69, what the hell is a dick head mixed with nigga shit?!

  • you shouldn't go to "the Doors movies" to lern aout the movie becuase just like this scene almost every scene in the movie didn't happen like in the movie!

it was a movie not a documentary! :(

  • Lol Every time I see this I get jealous of Val Kilmer's resembelence to Jim, and EVERY time I pause the movie and end up trying to imitate Jim's Voice. Did you guys know that Kyle Machlachlan originally wanted to play Jim?

  • jim is so cool!

  • jim is my idol....!!!!! god blesses jim!!!!!

  • ManyGodz , check this Oliver Stone wrote the script for this movie talk to him and plus The Doors band members DO state that Jim went on a complete freak out with the Pam incident

  • the movie didnt show all sides of jim only the crazy drunken side none of u should hate val kilmer he did a hell of a job...u hate anyone it should be the man who wrote the script

  • yeah he had soft spot for poetry

    bloody hell man he's good!

  • Are there any videos of the actual show other than the 10 seconds of arrest?

  • sorry.

i got a little worked up there.

    im ok now.

    i think.....

  • ha ha i actually agree with you

i dont think val should die but i think it was wrong for him to agree with that fucking cunt piss fuck shit eating head cunt fuck come shit bag oliver stone

he was crying because he "missed jim" but totally fucked him up in his fucking shit douce bag movie

and val shouldnt have agreed with fucking stone

they are betrayers and cunt faces

they are no fans of jim or any of the doors

oliver stone suck my cunt fuck ass shit ass mother fucker

  • easy now....

  • val kilmer wasnt trying to look like jim you fucking idiot.

The guy is an actor he's playing a role. And he was actually really honoured to play this part as he is a HUGE doors fan himself. Your comment is silly and totally misplaced.

Now let me be a dickhead mixed in nigga shit.

  • ibne süper oynamıştı hakkaten ya... izle izle doyamıyorum sevgili seyirciler...

  • Val did a great Jim Morrison!! Cute as hell too !!!!

  • Stone really made Morrison look like an asshole in his suck ass film.Jim never locked Pam in a closet and set the place on fire, fer chrissakes!!! Val Kilmer wouldn't even TALK to Patricia Kennealy, the chick he was handfasted to in the Pagan Ceremony.

  • thats what people claimed stone himself said it lol if there shows were really like dis woulda been tops

  • Learn to spell stupid fucks, and go fuck yourself

  • Those lips... THOSE VAL KILMER LIPS DRIVE ME INSANE. THOSE THINGS ARE HUGE.

  • Val was possessed by the spirit of Jim in that film.

  • No rockbeast val had the spirit of oliver stone. You are watchng olivers Jim morrison, not the Jim Morrison of the doors, why do you think none of the band likes oliver stone's movie. In fact oliver stone later admitted that he really messed up when he made the movie.

  • @RockBeast2 and the real jim was possesed by something else lol

  • what a shock- new haven sucks.

  • december 9th my birthday that night im playin doors songs all night long

  • BaCkDoOr m@n!!!

  • stone exploited the legend that is morrison for his own personal gain,so if your going to go against likes of ray manzarek and the rest of the doors opinions, which they dont like this film, then your chasing rainbows like a big dork

  • It's funny because all these "Doors Tribute bands" act more like Val Kilmer than Jim. Checkout STARK CIRCUS on myspace.

  • It was December 9, 1967. Not 1968. If your gonna make a movie about The Doors, get your facts straight. Fuckin Oliver Stone.

  • wow i wish concerts now would be the same with that wild atmosphere. i do the same calling the cops slaves, they're all fat, siting in that fucking car 24 hours while feeding their asses with free donuts and waiting to pull over some1 so they can make money getting a ticket, FUCK COPS! AND I WISH I COULD BE THERE SMOKING POT AND KISSING JIM

  • WOW .....Not a good word from any post ....was any of you there? I wasn't . I 'm glad O.S made this movie.... fkn better than nothing ..you bunch fnk ASS'S, The DOORS fkn rock .best band of ALL TIME!!!!! If you want to sound clever & deep, and talk about god and fkn crap like that &have a bitch session,do us a favor and shut the fuk up...becouse your not clever or deep..man I bet you fuks are a joy to be around! Just listen to the great music and watch a clip from the movie!!!!! I.N.I

  • all i can say is that it is too bad stone made a movie like this

  • i think manzarek could pull a film out about the doors. seeing as how they went to film school and he complains about the movie.

    love the doors.

    :)

  • Oliver Stone is an asshole

he only showed one side of the doors

    but not the others

  • amen

  • I don't disagree with you TheLizardKing667 but how can one learn about the other side of doors except for this movie and the utube videos?!

  • Dont use the word `one` as the American blind people dont understand dude. Best concerts done at the london roundhouse, or the iow festival.

  • @TheLizardKing667 Yes, indeed. He only showed one side of The Doors. But i still wouldnt say he's an asshole. I think he somehow made lots of people discover the real The Doors. Wouldnt you agree?

  • That's odd--the movie didn't show him being beaten? I believe Vince Treanor witnessed it, and someone else did, too.

  • 99.9% of all pigs should be shot in the fucking head and beat down like the sorry swine that they are!!! and yes I do have to use the word .......... SWINE!!!

  • oh god... nobody can scream like jim morrison :)

  • God is dead - Nietzsche
