There is no law that states the amount that you can sample from a song, you can take as much of a song as you want, the artist that is being sampled gets paid the same amount by the MUSICIANS UNION no matter whether half a bar or 24/36/48 bars are used.

This isn't a sample this is just copying. If you want to listen to good samples listen to Kanye West and Just Blaze. In a sample you use one part of the song like how Kanye sampled the drums off Dre's Xplosive in Spaceship not the whole song.

timbaland is a good producer,, but he has sampled or stolen, for all i know, maybe 30-40% of his work.. but if you think it is simple to just sample a song you are wrong.. he does not just ripp them off.. he makes them 100 times better and adds his own touch, drums, basslines.. so we have to give him credit

he looped the whole 8 bar and put drums on top - he didnt add any melody on top, or rhythmically change the sample, so in my eyes hes a thief. the fact that on top of this he didnt give the source credit just makes it worse. and he hasnt done this once or twice, he does it with most of his "work".

sampling uses a prerecorded beat or hook in combination with other beats creating a "collage"
stealing is using a prerecorded sound as the melody to your entire song without "collaging".
it is evident timbaland is guilty of stealing.

you got it twisted son.. a looped prerecorded sample replayed over and over with heavy 808s and snares is considered sampling just as well as your philisophy of a "collage".. you can take your main melody loop, replay it over and over, add a few of your own instruments to it and some more prerecorded song samples and itd be the same idea.. timbo aint stealin shit as long as the sample is cleared

This isn't a sample this is just copying. If you want to listen to good samples listen to Kanye West and Just Blaze. In a sample you use one part of the song like how Kanye sampled the drums off Dre's Xplosive in Spaceship not the whole song.
