I just came here cause I heard John lennon with the rest of the beatles in an interview, and the interviewer asked "what are your favorite bands right now?" and John replies "searchers and the rolling stones" so thats why I am here! but now I can't stop listening to this song...man the beatles had some taste in music didn't they? ;D
Hey idiot skid row they held the basses that way because they were freaking unbalanced and the head wanted to drop, so you had to play them more upright.
bill wyman did the same thing, I did the same thing, until i got a p-bass which was better balanced.
dumbass
so before you make stupid comments maybe you should learn a little

Thanks, so there's now a (3) dumbass count including you - in holding your bass like a f'king broom too! LOL!
thanks to YouTube many once great bands have a little virtual reviva. But even better is that The Searchers still exist and do good shows (though the line up has changed a bit since 1964, but the founding member is still in it). And then there is Mike Pender with his "Mike Pender's Searchers" - not quite the same, unfortunately, as Mike's voice is definitely not the same as "way back then" and his band, I think, does not get close to today's (real) The Searchers.
@gregorheinrich You are not really a Searchers expert. Mike Penders Searchers recreate the real Searchers sound, how can they not with the lead singer and guitarist with them (Mike). The present searchers use use synthesiser guitar, which is not the original 60's way.
the searchers put out a great album with a great song, something about rain, i think. there was also a song by marianne faithful in it. anyone know what i'm talkin' or was it part of the brown acid from woodstock?
I love watching these boys play. Same goes for The Hollies and The Beatles. But put aside those bands, The Searchers is undeniably one of the great contributors of the Rock N Roll beat. It will only do them justice to be inducted in the R&R Hall of Fame. Actually, what taking them so long?
@pds3939 He didnt like direction of band and possibly wanted plastic surgery on his nose and a whole new fresh start, which he in fact did, on went on a solo carreer. Great singer and talent.
@pds3939 Chris & Tony never got on,Tony wanted to carry on as they started as a rock band but Chris had other ideas and saw himself as the leader so Tony left, fans weren't too happy about Frank Allen joining as he was a Londoner, Chris was forced to leave himself after falling off stage in 1966 anbd injuring his hand badly.
Love It, Tezza the Manch............Thanks for the vid.

As you can see here, Tony Jackson († 2003) was replaced by Frank Allen, which was not the great music of The Searchers harmed.

I saw her today, I saw her face
It was the face I loved, and I knew
I had to run away
And get down on my knees and pray
I love this song!

Why'd they get rid of Tony Jackson? Is this another Pete Best ordeal? He got all the leg?

@pds3939 He had a huge drinking problem, was dragging all around him down. Used to fall off stage drunk.

The song here is playback of the original record, and the bass is still from Tony Jackson, who left the group by this time.
