  • Brilliant!! Thank you!!

  • hi thnx you so much, i first didnt want to believe but i tried and it worked. 1 question: for how long it works?

  • Some keys have come back to life and the velocity works better now on my Edirol PCR-1. HAIL, EIZODK, HAIL, 60c PENCIL. I feel like I should go around the neighbourhood on hard rubbish collections, looking out for old keyboards.

  • Hats off for the contribiutor/s. But the solution provided don't deal with root of the problem. It is clear that Edirol PCR series (at least) some of them have Mfr defect - contact layer simply vanishes with a time without any relevance to how long ut was played (mine 10h) 20% of keys aren't usable after 5 yers We need to reqest Roland to replace the kybs. affected by the defect. Once I setup the website which will pressure Roland to take responsiblity for their products I will report back

  • With the help of this video I restored my dead midi keyz thanks a lot

  • Help I tried that and it didn't work, instead most of them stopped working , please help

  • @OriammariO1 Sorry i take the previous comment back the problem was that i was using circular strokes instead of straight strokes.

  • THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "Stencil Pen"...

He means a mechanical pencil. But it need not be a mechanical pencil.. You just want a pencil with a Led that is hard, not soft, like those found in such mechanical pencils. So, a no.2 does not work. You need the hard led..with more graphite, less oil.. . I found a Ticonderoga rated "2H"... thats the hardest. It cost a whopping $ 0.35. 1st Clean the contacts real good, 2nd pencil them in like they were the S.A.T.'s...& Fixed!!!! Finally....

  • Its alive !!!!!!! did what you showed and my old M80 came back to life

(used a simple pencil) thanks bro!

  • Not a stencil PEN which would contain ink, rather a stencil or mechanical PENCIL, which contains graphite lead. Correct?

  • ok, i fixed mine, thnx again xD

  • nice!

  • HI can you tell me what this pen is? I am not sure what a stencil pen is!!

  • I tried to find a graphite PEN but could only find a package of 2 graphite PENCILS.... do you think those might work just as well, or should I really try to track down a stenciler's graphite pen?

  • thanks a lot man!!! really thank you!!!

  • What's a stencil pen?

  • @modulay i think its what engineers and architects use for their drawings?

  • First, who to revove the casing and key blocks ?

  • can you give me any tips on repairing a loose USB port on an M-AUDIO Radium 49?? Anyone??

    Thank you.

  • i cant remove the keys on the axiom 25 after reomving the springs! any ideas, cheers - good video.

  • Watch also this one: it requires a piece of rubber instead.

    Pulizia PCR-M80 Edirol

  • The keys on my keyboard all work... ie .. they make sound, but some of them are too soft and some play way too loud. Also, none of the extranious functions work. I have 30 extra sounds but they are useless... That doesnt matter much since I only use piano, but the keys that are too loud are a problem, they over power everything when played.. Is there a way to fix that? Its a Kohler KD20 console digital piano. I know, but its what I could afford 2nd hand.

  • Where did u get that grapohette stuff.

  • Well, this technique worked for my EDIROL PCR M-30. I must note though, that I also washed the rubber bands with plain old soap, and dried before reinstalling them back on the circuit. All my keys work again, with reasonably accurate velocity sensitivity.

    Thanks a ton!

  • I found a company in the US, that can provide spareparts for EDIROL keyboards, and other brands. It seems I'm not allowed to post the direct link here to the website, but if you use these keywords in a search engine, you should be able to find the site.

bubble contacts spare part syntaur edirol

    Best regards

  • thanks for this...i managed to resuscitate all but 2 keys (how those 2 taunt me!)....i'm annoyed at edirol (this is the 2nd time the keys went dead), but grateful that i found your video and was able to get the PCR back to manageable condition

  • Dude. This is excellent. Thanks so much - it totally worked!

  • GReat video. Really worked on my PCR 300. But, I cant get the springs back on the keys !!

  • Awesome vid, i have an Oxygen 88 with a dead key but it's only 2 months old so I doubt the chemical evaporated. But i do like learning about other keyboards, helps broaden my horizons. Thank you for the video sir.

  • This did not work for me (with a PCR M-50). After removing the rubber band I found brass contacts, not black dots. I rubbed graphite on them and the contacts on the rubber band just to see if that would still work, but the real problem is getting the rubber band back on. It's very soft, spongy rubber -- a few posts popped back in but most just bulge and will not go back in their holes no matter how much pressure is applied or how much I fiddle with them. After an hour of frustration, I gave up.

  • Great Video I watched your video then attempted to fix a key on my Korg ms2000 it worked a treat.

    Thanks :)

    Thanks :)

  • I'm so exited to see that many have taken this method in use, to repair their keyboards, and I send my best regards to everyone who posted messages on this video.

With regards to "simplerecordiing", if you have any information you would like to share, as to where it is possible to get these spareparts (rubbermembranes) it would be much appriciated!

My keyboard was out of warranty. It took me about 2 hours and saved me $400, hence I would have bought a new, so the effort was worth it.

  • Brilliant video fixed my Roland PC300 using this as a basic guide

  • I hadn't used my midi for a while and have found motivation to start writing again. I was disillusioned to find that 8 keys were not working. This worked an absolute treat. Thank you Eizodk.

To Simple recording, stop being a critic and throwing out all the negativity. A solution has been provided and although you have some merit in replacing the contacts, it took me an hour to fix the problem. May it re occur? Absolutely...

Back to working on my tune!!!!

  • excellent work.. we have control again

  • give me the shorter version

u need to clean the black dots with a pen???

then u add graphite to the rubberband???

  • Did what you suggested and it's worked like a charm!! Thanks so much for this advice, i found your vid after googling "edirol keyboard repair" to see how much it would cost me to get it fixed. Thanks to you, it cost me £1 for a pack of pencils. You rock!!

  • Sweet vid, thanks for the heads up!! I'm gonna try this soon :)

  • Hi, I repaired my keyboard and all keys are playing now but just one of the keys is now stuck on maximum velocity, any ideas?

  • That would be like tearing down an engine and only replacing the rings on one cylinder. The rubber contacts are poorly made, making it likely that some of the other switches will fail, too. Think about it. Why did the switches fail? What will be adhering the graphite to the contacts?

  • This repair method is not reliable and can be very hit/miss. A proper repair is to replace the rubber membrane switch pack, if better made parts are available. Otherwise, the contact material on the membranes should be replaced. Also, because all of the membrane switches in your keyboard are of the same manufacture, it doesn't make much sense to completely disassemble an entire keyboard and not replace them all.

  • totally works! Thank you!

  • Hi,

I've a dropped key on my synth, any ideas how to fix it? Thanks The keyb is a JX-1

  • i love youtube

  • i love you!

  • your my hero!

  • lol, I started doing this the other day to my PCR 80. Completely disappointed in the product and will never buy again. Such a pain to have to go through all of that work.

  • YOU ARE ALSO MY HERO!!!! THANK YOU

  • You are my hero! I thought I have to throw my keyboard away, but your tutorial saved me a lot of money 'cause every key is working again!!

    Thank you so much.
