    :D

  • Queer is where I feel most comfortable as well... seeing that I've been into one transitioning. Thx for this video-Jess seems cool & comfortable which is nice:) Good questions.

  • Great to hear that you had a wonderful time in Portland. I am in Portland and you are right, the people here are very friendly and welcoming, although didn't go to the gay pride. :( Wah! Will probably go this year 2010

  • shut up lady

  • wow, you rejected a straight girl! talk about DENIED!!!!

  • about the bouquet- sounds like something i would do haha

  • jess!!!!

you looked so hot with your hair this way!!!!

come on!! long hair is great... but this is such a great look!!

  • dos!!!LMAO! There is nothing sexier for a gay hispanic girl to have a hot 100% American chick say something in spanish, it totally blows my mind away! XD

  • whats LGBTQ? sorry, thicko here

  • lesbian gay bisexual transgender. queer.

  • lesbian gay bisexual transgender questioning

  • My university writing seminar was called "Transgressing Categories: Gender, Sexuality, and the Body" and my professor not only hates labels, but she also hates the phrase "LGBTQ". I mean, she uses it, 'cause that's like what she works with for a living, but she wishes that the term "queer" could just apply to anything and everything that pushes hetero normative boundaries.

I can't help but to agree with her logic.

  • I lived in San Diego for about 3 years & I never managed to feel accepted into the LGBT&Q community... I went to the Flame a few times & felt like I might as well have been from Saturn.

  • portland born and raised :)

  • i think ur soooo hawt omg... marry me hun.. lol

  • LOL! i pick stuff from people's yard too. hehe

  • eye candy! YUM!

  • your very lucky!

been drooling over my straight best mate for ages, i'll get over it one day.....but dude she is hot!

  • who *you resemble

  • I was trying to figure out who resemble here in this video and...

    finally...it's Chyler Leigh on Grey's Anatomy. :)

  • Hey girl! you are so sympathetic! I like you!!!

    xxxxxxxx

  • all I do is fall for straight girls :(

  • me too.. i dont know why. but its probably because their are more straight girls than bi/lesbian ones:/</3

  • you are super gorgeous and i love your personality...i am def not watching these videos in order though. lol. keep 'em coming babe youre a doll <3

  • I absolutely agree with not wanting to label yourself "lesbian".. Personally, I hate labels too. I'm with a girl, but I don't want to label myself "bisexual" or "lesbian".. the most comfortable label for me is queer too, but even then it makes me uncomfortable. I don't know why we are forced to label ourselves.. if someone asks me if I am gay, I tell them I am dating a girl, and that's all the label I need :)

  • I love portland! I go there ALL the time, and i usually spend like millions of dollars in powelles and what not

  • Aw man I love that bookstore (how could you not?) I really like Portland too.

But anyways about the video...I can't figure out why I'm watching but the beaver bunch is just really interesting.

  • Mybe it was the fact that she was a stripper. Nothing against them, personally. But, I would never date one. Cuz' I am weird like that. Anyway, just curious...what is your sign? LOL.

  • pisces

  • you are too fucking cute.

  • My label? Angie... Possibly even Angieanything? LOL

  • rrowr, you can take the "masculine" role with me any day! You are very very cute and hot.

  • you are soo cute

  • I love you're answers.

You sound like a great amazing person.

  • Nice answers!

Labels are for container, not people....unless you are canning people....don't can people, it's weird and illegal.

I have a label for you: JESS!! (ok, two labels if I include your user name)

  • Thanks for sharing so much about yourself, Jess. It's weird for me because I don't know a lot of gay people so the label thing doesn't come up very often. Everyone knows I'm gay but it's just never an issue. This channel has made me miss hanging out with queers though. There was just so much drama involved back in college that I stay away. But maybe that was just college crap.

  • Haha thanks for answering my questions!

And yes, you did answer the first one - i'll "deal with it" anyway :)

and about the corny thing...hmmm...I have to admit it kinda is but its really cute!!

Ahhh the ridiculous things we do for love!

Thanks again, your responses were very interesting. Got me thinking..

  • Thank you for being so open and real! As I said before, you articulate the way I see myself.. Nice to see/hear someone else with the same opinions!

  • what about labels as a source of empowerment.

  • Interesting point...hmm...

  • That's a good point, but wouldn't TRUE empowerment come from within? Like, feeling secure about who you know you are, rather than from what you call yourself?

"What's in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet"

  • eloquently said. empowerment doesn't just come from within though. especially when not coming from the "norm" is so looked down upon and discriminated against. By giving a "label" or name for yourself it, in a way, materializes the pride you have for who you are. something give to the world. your security for yourself makes people feel comfortable which in turn empowers yourself.

  • eloquent? really? *giggle* ^_^

Of course I agree completely, it is that "owning" of a name that bonds groups and helps build a feeling of community. It IS a good thing, but people also need to feel able to be who they are within that community; thus breaking from the "shackles" of the name while still feeling part of the community. But that generally only comes with time.

But the label that REALLY needs to be done away with is NORMAL!

  • yes definitely =)

agreed. feeling comfortable in the community is a must. so empower the labels, but keep them equal. YES! the label that is most annoying is "normal" wtf does that even mean?

  • lol picking peoples flowers for a girl is probably something that i would do in the future regardless if you made this video or not.

    totally corny!

  • I loved the first question! Very insightful to ask that. I've come across a lot of prejudice within the community. I am a bisexual woman, and I have constantly found myself shunned *because* I am bisexual, like because I truly like both genders I am suspect by the Lesbian community. I wonder if this is true of other bisexual women?

  • I've heard the same reaction by many bisexual women too. I honestly can't find a reason why they do that. Is it really hard to grasp the idea that you can be attracted to both genders? Its the person you fall in love with sometimes, regardless of whether theyre female or male.

  • agreed! i mean just b/c we have more choices...haha just kidding.

  • labels are so funny , like i dress pretty girly, but i totally take on the masciline "role" wheere i pay for dinner, i work,. my gf stays home w the kids. she looks like a boy but stays home, cleans, makes dinner and watches the kids. and straight girls = no thanks ha.

  • your hair is getting seriously long sister. I dig it though.

  • i know! it's fucking annoying - it's coming off in about a week or so. i can't stand having long hair, but i like it on other people.

  • score one for the longhairs!

  • yay for queers.

once again i must say that i completely agree with you on the labels topic. when i found myself attracted to an ftm it made me rethink "lesbian"... because obviously that doesn't make sense. genderqueer is what i am and genderqueer is mostly what i am attracted to.

ambiguity is wonderful when it comes to gender. :)

  • Hah! I second that!

  • good video... i agree with you on the labels issue. as for straight girls... or bicurious or whatever. they are trouble.

  • i like the new hair!

  • i totally agree with you on the whole label topic. people should not have to be defined behind some word.

    thats why,

when people ask me "what are you?" (meaning sexuality)duh.

i just say " i'm a kathy". cause' i really dont get why i have to be put in a catergory.

    so yeah :]

    p.s

you make awesome videos, even on your cautiousplay account.

    kudossss jess :]

  • Straight girls are sort of hit or miss. Most of the time, they can't tell that I'm female right away so, it can create some amusing situations...

  • woo hoo for no labels! that's something our society definitely less of!

  • I know a stripper. She's kinda masculineish and her girlfriends are always really cute. =)

  • i agree with you there on labels psh @ labels and tring to place people in little cubby holes lol.

  • stay away from the strippers!

  • i was going to say something completely smart-ass. i have decided against it.

    good video. =]

  • Jess Great Video and your new Haircolour is looking Very Cutes

  • Straight girls always fall for the queers.... guess they aren't REALLY straight ;)

  • or they just want a good experiment!

  • Straight girls nay, and bi girls nay as well for me. Don't know why but ... yeah =]

  • My girlfriend considers herself to be straight. Personally I don't see how that works but I'm not complaining!!! :D
