Yes, all apologies and I'm an idiot. I posted before I watched the clip. The email just seemed very sketchy to me and the links redirected to another site. I've never seen a candidate ask for $100 or $1000 explicitly before.

Thank you for apologizing. This race is a special case. Dennis has been serving this district as Congressman for many years. The work he has done in Congress for all of us in the U.S. has been tremendously important -- introducing the legislation that matters most. Normally, getting re-elected is not a problem but this time he got blind-sided by a last minute challenger heavily financed by Corporate interests. These are the same interests that got him cut out of the Presidential debates.

The above explains why he is asking for $100 donations and for help from each supporter to spread the word enough to raise $1000. He has little time, and even the outside owned mega-corporate newspaper in his hometown is not helping him.
