No, not really, the equipment can be expensive, but you can hire it when you're first learning to dive. The diving in Madeira is quite good, it would be a shame to have it under your nose and not try it...
yes i know.. the fact is that the ousiders enjoy madeira more than us. thats sad. i was looking, and a course arounds 2x300eur (basics+advanced).
this summer i will save some money and give it a try.. not taking the course, its too much 4 my wallet.. but maybe they do some kind of assisted dive..
i from madeira and i would like to dive... but its kind of expensive, i guess.

amazing, we where on Madeira end of September...
we just did some snorkeling at Canico de baixo but it was already great!!!
