  • Cool song. I like the Shonen Knife version just as much.

  • 'What the Sam Hill are you talking about'? that's the tune I remember. Great band. a Big Dipper cassette made its way to Philly in like 1987. Awesome.

  • This one popped up on Pandora! Love it!

  • I was a fan of the Shonen Knife cover of this song for years and years. This is the first time I've heard the original and I gotta say I really dig it. I think I'm going to find this album.

  • a lot of good music from the 80's, but thank God they're over ... especially this song.

  • How I miss the Boston music scene of the 1980's. It was one endless night after another in clubs with bands, music, and good times with an energy and vibration incomparable to anything going on now. That's when you know you were part of history. Glad I lived it and that Youtube with a caring audience is posting these gems.

  • @berky1

You are so right...Titanics, Bags, Lemonheads, Blood Oranges, Treat Her Right...it was an incredible time to be in Boston and Cambridge.

  • Awesome song, awesome video. How come it's so hard to get a hold of any of their music though? The only other one of their songs I've been able to find was a cover of "Homosapien" (10000000x bettter than Pete Shelley's version, btw).

  • Shonen Knife covered this, so it is DEFINITELY on the cool side of the universe!

  • Bill Goffrier sent me a t shirt (after i payed him)in the mail and now were facebook friends! (not trying to endorse anything, but BIG DIPPER IS FUCKING AMAZING!)

  • i wish someone would upload Mr. Woods.

  • my dad is the bass

  • Shout? with me, so i will heal

while i am, so we got heall ?.

where is she?, And I ???

    She's???,Work's not free ?

    So I leave, the ???

This will be, a time well spent.

Grab my hand, and ??? to me ???

Between the eyes, Like you do

    Dealing the Faith Healer

    Trusting in the palm reade

  • Shoving me so I will heal

While I am so weak I kneel

    Begging she admire me

But she says her work's not free

So I leave the drafty tent

This will be a ten well spent

Grab my hand and with an effort to

Read between the lines like you do

    Dealing with the faith healer

    and trusting in the palmreader

  • Now is the time we must get down

    When the healer's not around

Let me talk love to you now

As if I could show you how!

    You're wonderful but nothing new

The faith healer can do this too

She arrives and with a warrant to close you down

She's been around and sees through you.

  • I am flattered

    Thank you very much goffrierstudio

  • This song my favorite one. Can any fan help me deciphering the lyrics, cause i don'tspeak English:

Now is the the time, we most get down

    When the healer's not around.

Where do you talk ???, Do you ???

As if could??? Show you how

??? but nothing new, The faith healer's can do this too

She ???The only ???, She's still around, Seek through?.

We will to close you down?, She's been around

  • I saw Big dipper in 1988 at some big place in Austin, TX. The place would have held 800 or maybe a thousand, but instead, there were about 30 people in attendance. I walked in quite late, having played a little gig myself earlier that night, and I asked Bill would they please play "All Going Out Together". and they did- one chorus and out- but I still consider that a very special night. It might as well have been the Beatles- I was SO into Big Dipper at the time- anda I still am.

  • Anyone else find out about this band through Tom Scharpling?

  • I did! This is a great song.

  • Big Dippah is BACK!!!

  • I'm pretty sure you can actually cut through walls with this song.

  • I did make out with the psychic!!!

She could see it coming too!!!

  • I'm sorry...but I really want to make out with that psychic...

  • I just got into this band, and picked up the reissue. Amazing gem.

  • they were so awesome

  • Yea! I love those sexy nerds!

  • One of the best from Boston!!

  • Picked up the 3 cd set today, which would be worth buying just to have All Going Out Together on cd finally. Great stuff.

  • So great! Great live band too, from the time when fun indie rock stilled, well, rocked. Wait'll you hear the 3-CD Merge is putting out -- it's amazing to hear it all again!! Tons of extra tunes. Worth it just for the solo in "All Going Out Together". Dig...

  • Merge will be re-releasing the "Faith Healer" ep, "Heavens", "Craps", and the unreleased "lost" record the band had in the can when Epic dropped them in a 3-disc package on March 8. Reunion tourdates to follow!

  • OH my god - I was such a big fan of Big Dipper!! Still am actually. I listen to Heavens and Craps at least once a month. Great great stuff here!!!!

  • Whats jeff Oliphant up to these days? I used to Work with him At Garys Rest in WB

  • A joy to watch and hear. Great low-budged expressionistic video, too.

"Patsy" is very good as well. They all slept in the house of my grandmother once, because I organized a concert with them at the time. Very nice fellows, quiet and with a fine sense of humour. If the world would have been playing fair, they would have been an even Bigger Dipper.

  • I'm an 'Ull boy me. I seem to remember me and my mates getting rather drunk on Castle Eden Ale, and shaking all of the band members by the hand afterwards. They seemed genuinely suprised by the positive response, and nice fellas as well. Shame you can't find the albums on CD nowadays.

  • AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. Certainly one of the finest bands of the 80s - and one of many fine bands from Boston. Saw 'em at the Hull Adelphi, England on 25th May 1988 and they were magnificent. Boo Boo!

  • I was there to, along with about 50 other people, remember them playing "she's fetching" and it blowing my mind. Remebered the song in a dream the other night after having not thought of them for probably 10 years. Loved Heavens, but aint got it no more. I feel 15 all over again...

  • Excellent - where you from Tommy? Codhead or Yellowbelly? Me and my mate played pool with 2 Housemartins in the bar beforehand and interviewed the Dipper afterwards for our zine. Great night!

  • Bill Goffrier's first band, The Embarrassment, were also this calibre. This was originally an Embarrassment song, I believe.

  • Brilliant song Brilliant band Brilliant vid

  • One of the greatest bands of the true "alternative" era!

  • One of the greatest bands of the true "alternative" music era!!!

  • I remember seeing BD play in Providence, RI several times- they always put on great shows.

  • One of my favorite 80's videos, kind of mod, kind of new wave, used to be on 120 minutes a few times back in the day
