  • This is marvellous! (And the woman doing the ASL is adorable!)

  • Doesn't stop being funny - the "Here, kitty, kitty, kitty..." gets me every time :)

  • Zombie went "no eat eyes!"

    Nice JoCo reference!

  • This is hilarious, many, many thanks and Judi Miller was truly inventive.

  • here is a replay button for you if you broke yours like I did! 0:29

  • That lady was signing things I didn't even know you could sign.

  • Ack! Sorry about the double post! Please forgive the itchy clicky finger!

  • Why on earth would the HPL references be better gone, Aurora? Instead of leaving the younger generation even more ignorant of anything that existed before 1990, why not educate them? They hear a funky filk with references that they don't understand so someone hands them some Lovecraft: ZAP! Another minion *cough* I mean avid reader, is born!

If the, "They won't understand it so why not just pretend it doesn't exist." method came into common use, we'd everything that has made us what we are.

  • @CrymsinLilly Man, it's Tom smith, he's old school filk and I love it. I could care less about this supposed 'new generation' etc. There are tons who have heard of/read/etc HP's stuff.

  • @chaoticpix93 Indeed most of the kids these days haven't a clue who ERB OR RAH are and WHY it's unlikely we'll ever see a John Carter of Mars movie.

  • Cthulhu went BLUBLUBLU! ahaha funny!

  • I'a Dagon!

  • I got to speak with Judi Miller, who signed this, a year ago. She literally did not know what Tom would be singing. She made the sign for Shoggoth on the spot (lots of tentacles, so the waving fingers under her chin for it). When the verse for C'thulu came up she had already used wiggling fingers for Shoggoth so she stretched her arms to suggest something much much bigger than a Shoggoth.

  • Gotta love all the (pop?) culture references. CTHULHU F'THAGAN!

  • I want to teach my kids this song ^.^

  • This is the nerdiest song i have ever heard.

    I am most pleased :D

  • NOT THE RED ONE!

  • awesome song! as always though, can't wait to see tom again at dragon con

  • Ok - You want some Twilight verses?

I had a Cullen ,He pleased me

But with sparkly skin, he was a pussy!

    Cullen went *longing sigh*

I had a shifter, he pleased me

he refused to wear a shirt and got chilly.

    Jacob went "ANGST"

    ^.^

I'm allowed, cause I liked the books -and I love Filk. Life is good.

  • There's a ASL sign for Shoggoth?

  • @JSpradley123 : I guess there is now!

  • Dalek went, "THIS IS NOT A TOILET PLUNGER."

  • was she preforming for deaf pepole?

  • Well, I new about 2/3 of the references/jokes in there. I guess I'm doing ok in my venture into nerd-dom.

  • This is such a wonderful song. Way to send nerd love out to the children. Keep up the great work!

  • Lovecraft FTW ! (independently from whatever sparkly vampires stories wich I didn't read or see nor intend to do)

Great song, very funny, I like it a lot XD

  • Please stop. This really hurts, and it's immature, and I'll stop being immature, but please. Just stop.

  • Why are you guys talking about Twilight?

    This is H.P. Lovecraft.

  • Crazy girl thought the song would be better with the addition of Twilight.

  • I haven't read Twilight...mainly because I don't think I could. The plot is so sleezy, contrived, and emo that I think I would burn the books before I got past the first. I also have read enough excerpts that I know I can't stand the main characters.

I'd much rather read classic Eastern European folklore about wampir and vrykolakas.

Anyways, -great- song. I laugh every time I hear it :)

  • it took me 2 hours to find this song... but it was worth it :)

  • Haha, this is amazing!

  • ... and Wikipedia tells me: "This cry is a reference to the Edgar Allan Poe novel 'The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket', which is cited in 'At the Mountains of Madness'."

    You're right, Jlongtors0! Cheers, mate

  • "Tekeli-li" is taken from the Cthulhu Mythos of H. P. Lovecraft. The shoggoths repeated "tekeli-li" in eternity. Even "Old One" and "R'lyeh" comes from the books of H. P. Lovecraft.

Great song! Though all this laughing really works your belly muscles. :D

  • Great stuff! I cant wait for you to appear at CoastCon 33 on March 5, 6 & 7 2010 as the Music Guest.

  • ROFLMAO! This is fantastic, in every sense of the word! Kudos to Tom & even more kudos to Judi for her interpretation!

  • Tom Smith rocks! Too bad it wasn't after Twilight. Werewolf and Vampire might have been funnier.

  • I had a vampire, didn't please me

Kicked his sparkly ass, you seeeee...

  • I don't support pedophile werewolves.

I don't support emotionless pedophile fairies pretending to be vampires.

I don't support characters with less depth than the kiddy pool at a midget country club in the Sahara fucking desert.

Twilight is the cancerous boil on the pale ass of modern literature. It has completely destroyed vampires and werewolves and raised a generation of fuckwits.

Proinsias Cassidy is a real vampire. Alucard is a real vampire.

    Read a real book.

  • You must read awful stuff to think Twilight's low rate. I don't care if I get blocked; you are offencive so I'll start offence instead of defense if you don't lay off one of my favorite books. It is as good as "Crispin: the cross of Lead" which is a pretty good book. In a calmer way, those vampires must have had a spoof of part to make it an original story. Twilight's vampires are not that far off the mark. In Buffy most don't have souls as per usual, but two do. They are original. LAY OFF IT!

  • Hardball?

Stephenie Meyer can't write worth shit. Even Stephen King says so.

Original? So is a car powered by an army of ADHD-stricken squirrels. Originality doesn't mean it's good.

Bella is what's known as a Mary-Sue. Edward exhibits extreme stalker tendencies and has no discernible personality.

Twilight is a ripoff of an established property (if I'm not mistaken, the Sookie Stackhouse books). The whole thing is a ridiculous masturbatory fantasy with the literary worth of gas station graffiti.

  • Comment removed

  • In fact, I'm having fun.

Twilight is BEYOND shit. None of the characters have any sort of personality, 90% are Mary-Sues, and the entire plot is bullshit.

Hey! Let's hype up a squad of uber-vampires for three books then have them all get scared away by OMGPERFECT Bella! Let's have a Mary-Sue baby and a werewolf that wants to fuck it! Let's make Bella a cunt whenever her pedophile, 108-year-old virgin boyfriend is gone!

You want real fantasy? George R.R. Martin.

Even I'm a better writer than her.

  • We will either end this here, o talk about something else, because this p***** me off way to much for my own good. Anybody else who wants to express they're opinions may take this conversation up. Also, dude, I bet you couldn't do a self-insert without being a Mary-Sue. And I don't read specific authors, I only read it if it can hold my interest, and not all books I read make it there. Twilight didn't the first time, even though it's set in Washington. I needed the stupid movie first.

  • I only got about as far as Bella moving in before I went to something else, I didn't read far enough for an interest to start.

  • I don't write self-inserts. I write actual characters. Ever heard of those?

  • OH NO! HE INSULTED MY SHITTY BOOK! WHATEVER SHALL I DO?

innocent by-standard:Be mature about it and understand his right to an opinion?

AelTheRomulan: FUCK NO IMMA THROW A TANTRUM LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD AND DOWN RATE HIS POSTS!

  • Yes, I'm a very tantrum-throw-y kind of person. I know you all have an opinion, but I am the kind of person that if talked back to, will talk back to that person. I was down-rating his posts because my opinion differs and in my opinion the comments were a little rude. And when I said someone else can take it up, I meant with him, and I wouldn't care whether you agree or disagreed with him. Now can we please leave this alone? Now that I'm calm, this was all very immature, including mine.

  • LoL this is truly a great kids song - my 4 yr old daughter loves to sing along with it :)

  • If memory serves "tekeli-li" may be found in Poe's 'The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket,' should any wish to know the source. Thank you for this funny song.

  • Such a sweet kid's song--will have to teach it to my grandkids!

  • the woman on thee stage look so sweat, indeed

  • Wow! I didn't think that song could get any funnier, but as an improv ASL duet, it's through the roof! Great job for the song Tom, for keeping up with it Judi, and for getting it recorded so well to share it with the rest of us, Leslie! Thanks! -Cync

  • I want to see what he did to her at MarCon during "5 Years" -- "You can't fold that easy..." :-)

  • I agree. *Evil grin*

  • That makes me laugh. Seriously. Almost as good as the "Butane killed the beast" from Spoiler Alert

  • Awesome work by Judi Miller signing! I love the sign for "Cylon".

  • this song is amazing

    and very very good

    :D

  • Best.

    Song.

    Ever.

  • best ASL interpreter ever!

  • If ever an interpreter deserved a bonus... THIS amazing lady did!

  • 12 beautiful verses!

  • lmao that one way to make a woman sweat ;-p

  • There's a sign for SHOGGOTH????? Loved the song, loved the signing.

  • this is awesome!

    simply great!

Zylon went: "I feel pretty" rofl

  • Reminds me a little of the professor I had in college who had the "word of the day" to mess with the sign interpreter...who was awesome and messed right back with him and told the deaf kids to laugh at intermittent times during the lecture to make him paranoid. Great teamup, and I adore this song.

  • Judi did great on the signing.

  • Poor Judi - She really went nuts signing this one. Excellent!
