WARNING: This breed is LOUD and needs alot of acres away from people so their barking isn't heard. They will bark at cars, children, rabbits and alot of time nothing. This breed should have stayed in Italy. Unfortunately they are being prostituted by breeders. Stay away from the one in FREE UNION VA!
@ccoins102 they are no louder than all the other dogs in my area, infact there are many other dogs louder... granted they do bark a bit but they are intelligent enough to shut up when i tell them...
@rcsurfing I agree with you if train them they would comply. It is when they are left untrained and neglect as the breeder at Peavine Hollow in Va does that they become a nuisance. They do have a louder bark though which is ok on large acreage but not 1/2 acre!
my maremma is very chill because he's a maremma and a golden retriever mix. But his stomach got twisted and we might have to put him to sleep. He is 15.
Sorry to hear that, I'll be a mess when its time for these guys to go... Out of the 30 or 40 Maremmas to go through the RSCPA here, there has only been 2 that passed every test... And we have them both...
The thin one is Byron, he was a stray... in fact, they both were strays... He was shaved because his fur was mattered and dirty, he is/was also dangerously thin... My wife works at the RSPCA. Byron is 1 and Kirra is 3... We celebrate their birthdays on Australia day. They are very chilled dogs and not your average Maremma's... Love 'em...
did that maremma get a haircut?
