Buck is great but even with all his success he is under appreciated. He is a true giant of the industry. Add a little Don Rich to Buck and you have magic.
My band played with Susan at the Friedberg Germany Capri Club in 1982 where I was stationed. She is a sweet heart to work with.I never did find out why HER band didnt show up??? LOL
Buck went a little fluffy when he joined hee haa,but as you can see from this clip he still had it.This duet is as good as anything George and Tammy did.
It would have been way cooler if they'd have gone to the V chord in the main verse like in the original. Oh well. Buck Owens was way cool, R.I.P. This song was written by the great Bo Diddley, also R.I.P.
@eileenkabush Think I remember from HeeHaw days that Susan was the niece of one of the stars; either Buck or Roy Clark...come to think of it, she favors Roy, so was probably he.
I like how Buck moves his head around when he sings! It's like all bouncy or bobbity or something....and his facial expressions too, not particularly in this performance though, does he make facial expressions....
Such a fine example of classic country! If someone today would take time to study the style of this type of country, and learn something form it, they would become stars overnight...real country fans miss the good stuff and would be a huge waiting audience.
She's still alive, but has been retired from recording since the mid-'80s. She showed up for a Bakerfield tribute show a few years ago, but that's about it.
She's so beautiful! But even more of a beautiful voice! I've never heard of her till this video (unfortunetly) But I most definitely love her now! LOL! Her and Buck sing really good together too!
Funny how you can watch a million videos on you tube and you miss this gem over and over. What a great performance I love these two. However lip syncing, no way, just kidding it was really nice to have seen this video. I love Buck!!!!
yes way this IS the 70's.....if you want proof that women were wearing their hair like that look at the 1971 1972 season of the Mary Tyler Moore Show....Mary Richards sported a very similar do to Susan Raye's in that season
You are right, barely. This song was released by these two early in 1970 on an album. For all intensive purposes therefore, this is a late '60s or very early '70s look.
When Don Rich was alive , he and Buck would play twin fender electic guitars....they would both play the Instrumental "Buckaroo" one of then up a key ! It was awesome, I saw them when I was about 16 yrs old ! BUCK OWENS and the Buckaroos ROCKED like you couldn't believe !!! BUCK & DON were telepathic in their singing and playing !! I'd love to go Back to those days !!!
BUCK was a Awesome guitar player, electric or acoustic or any other Instrument he picked up ! By the way, up until the night he died at age 76 he was still playing the Electric, Acoustic guitars, Fiddle,Mandolin,Dobro & occasionaly would go over and play the Piano !! He is and was like Dwight Yoakam often says in Interviews " BUCK was one of a kind" ...also, BUCK taught don rich how to play the guitar licks that made the Bakersfield sound Famous !!
Love The Bakersfield Sound. Listen to Dwight Yoakam's latest CD "Dwight Sings Buck." Go to his MYSPACE site.THEN buy it from NEW*WEST records, get a box of tissues and listen to TRACK 15.Talk about LOVE for Mr. Buck Owens.
wow that acoustic sure sounds like a tele haha I never new this was fake until now

Buck & Susan Raye were a powerhouse duo in the 1960's & early 70's. Buck & The Buckaroos
almost always provided backing vocals on many of Susan's solo hits. Prime example: her solo
hit " Pitty,Pitty,Patter". Take a listen! Great tune!!
