@lonosbersdieteren, it's gonna be hard to hot the 5ghz mark on a 920 cos there alot hotter than i7 8xx cos there tdp is 130watts and the 8xx and 7xx max out at 95watts on stock so there a massive advantage for the 8/7xx CPUs
Nice... I have i7 860 oc'd to 5.2 but that's cos I broke my bank with my wc setup... 2x Laing d5 (one at the start of the loop and one in the middle.) ultima xt waterblock and 2x 480mm radiators(stackable) and this is just for my cpu.( have a cheaper wc for my mosfets nb, sb) plus u guys shud remember when oc'ing that the back of ur mobos gonna get real hot so yeah.... CPU temps max out a 57 when at full load
I have my 920 OC'd to 4.2GHz on air cooling, but I really would like that WC setup. but before doing all that I think I better upgrade my video card and get a WC block for cooling it too cuz while gaming it can hit 70 (OC'd a bit)
kick ass build, yea im getting rid of my corsair h50 does not do good in my raven rv01. When I do my water cooling loop can I go from rad to reservoir to pump to cpu block back to rad? because I see you have rad to pump to reservior to cpu block which is the best, and does it matter or is that just for swiftech? Im building a custom one. Danger Den pump, koolance rad and reservior. also EK cpu block.
I'm gonna buy a computer with a i7-920 processor. And I want to overclock it to 4ghz. I was thinking of buying a H50 Corsair water cooling kit, but will it be able to hold the temperatures low enough after I've overclocked the i7 920, or do I have to go with a more powerful water cooling system like this?
You will get much better cooling with a water cooling kit like this one over the Corsair H50. Although the H50 still cools better than air coolers and is certianly much easier to install than traditional water cooling setups.
@TDawg2k7 Dude I just found out that a core i7 920 @ 4.0Ghz on idle uses 148W and on load uses (prime95) 417W!!!! yea dude u will need a dual rad just for the cpu and a triple if you plan to cool the mobo and video card too.
@HenkeAlkoHoel look at my video i have a corsair h50. If you go between 3.0 and 3.4 it might be ok, Might!!! but anything higher and its no good. Remember core i7 920 has a rated heat dispersal of 130W at stock volts and cpu speed. Now start overclocking and bump up the volts that will shoot up to around 180W. The corsair i bet has around 160W of heat dispersal see the problem. You will need a double rad 120mm or 140mm, thoes have a rated heat dispersal of 700W add a DD CPX Pro cool mobo too!
see some air bubbles

I'm interested in such a cooling system if it can get me to 5 ghz on my i7 920 with temperatures under 70 degrees celcius.

Yes, Because the liquid that comes out from the radiator is always the coolest.
35-40 Celsius idle.
50-60 Celsius load

Nice, I'm only averaging 67 with my air cooler. I have a i7 OCd to 4 ghz with HT enabled, could get below 60 C easily without it on

Noctua NH-D14 (an air cooler) keeps my pc temps at 67 Max, 57 without hyper threading.
I have a 4 ghz i7 920
