  • HE ALMOST DID ITS FRIDAY! UGH HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN REBECCA BLACK!

  • That would be an awesome Kiva ad. I mean, if I wasn't using Kiva beforehand, I would totally have started using it after seeing that.

  • I've spent all of my free time in the last 4 days watching the original Brotherhood 2.0 videos, and now I have finally reached the end of the first half.

To celebrate I just donated $75 to a Kiva.org project. Here's to decreasing suck levels!

  • I GET THIS EXCITED ABOUT DONATING MONEY!!

You are not alone. I probably get excited because I've never had money of my own before, and so always felt bad about giving away my parents' money. BUT NOW I HAVE MY OWN MONEY! AND I CAN DO WITH IT WHATEVER I DAMN-WELL PLEASE!!! What better way for anyone to spend theirr money than decreasing suck levels worldwide? :D

  • thank you hank for these wonderful thoughts :D

you made me join kiva.org and the nerdfighter-group there!!

  • I'm feeling a smidge too THISISAWESOMEOHMYGODTHEWORLDISBETTERNOWDFTBAYEAAAHHHH to properly articulate myself, so instead I'll just comment on Hank's shirt. Is that a Lil' Brudder shirt? Really? That's fracking amazing.

  • It's really cool to hear you talking about how poor people really are, Hank. Thanks a lot for painting a more realistic picture for those of us who weren't aware. :)

  • @yenamarre100 You can't grow with your state of mind. So all of us are supposed to fight people and be selfish? You try that and see how it works out for you.

  • @yenamarre100 i have two problems with that comment

    1) this is not the place for it

    2) its compleatly wrong. women can lead just as well as men. im a man and i think its sad that some people like you still think women should have less rights then us. also if all our leaders would stop fighting each other and our wealthy all shared there abundance with the poor the world would be a much better place.

people like you are a waste of the internet

  • This is so motivational...

  • @yenamarre100 I don't know if you're trying to troll or just very stupid.

  • Here's how I see it: Hank is a billion times cuter than John

John is a million times hotter than Hank

  • john definitely is cuter than hank

  • I love how he gets so excited about this stuff, like microfinancing, and being on the Weather Channel...

  • I know that this isn't the most important point in the video, but I can't help myself -

Hank kinda' should have won. ;-)

  • of course john won!

  • people are people. i for get this sometimes.. thanks for reminding me :]

  • Hank speaks the truth here.

  • The first minute or so of this video very closely mirrors the plot of Sylvia Plath's "The Bell Jar;" going to new places and not feeling the feelings you think you should be feeling. I should really write my Bell Jar paper instead of watching these videos now. :P

  • Is that a li'l brudder T-Shirt?

  • Pssshhhh, they've got it all backwards. Hank is cuter.

  • This was posted on my birthday!!! <3<3

  • I have now just noticed that Hank is wearing a Lil' Brudder t-shirt from Homestarrunner

    God I miss Homestarrunner...

  • I have officially watched 1 month of brotherhood at once in an attempt to get further on my catch-up so I can actually follow this when it, you know, actually happening. I'll catch up some day!

  • This is an amazing way to help. I just contributed after watching John's video. Awesome. What a great thing to do on Easter.

  • I would like to thank John and Hank for introducing me to the idea of microfinancing. I can't believe I have never heard of it before! It's an amazing idea, and I feel confident that when I "donate," my money will go to good things. THANK YOU BOYS! Good for you!

  • omg are you wearing a lil' brudder the one-legged puppy shirt???

    we just became best friends.

and now im going to donate money to someone who needs it a lot more than i do.

  • homestar FTW

  • Ya know what I wanna know how come alpo is one of their sponsors.. nummy euthanized cats and dogs and horse meat, if they list chicken beef and lamb as ingridents then go on to list "meat" that tends to make me wonder what the meat is..

  • I am going to do this with the money that the gov't gives me back from my taxes. It probably won't even be as much as Hank donated but it will go towards something.

  • That is so nice! I wish I could do the same, but I have my own poverty situation. It is called "donate your return to the brother to get him off of mom's couch". He bought a camper so hopefully he will soon be living in a van down by the river.

  • points for chris farley references! yeay!

  • It is so nice to be on a reply thread where someone actually gets the Farley reference. *sigh*

  • This is one of the best things that came out of this project. You made me aware of this opportunity. People are increasing their quality of life thanks to these opportunities.

  • I'm really considering doing this. I'm only 18, and I don't have a job, but I do have money saved. Not a lot, but enough. And all it's doing now is sitting there, getting however much interest it gets. But I'm absolutely sure the feeling that accompanies helping people get their start in life is worth so, so much more than that.

Also! Your shirt! It is excellent! I want it!

  • Also also: It's hard, but so vitally important, to imagine others complexly. Lots of damage can be done and opportunities missed by neglecting to do so. Like John said in a later video, "in our minds, it becomes this formulation. 'We' should help 'them'. But it's not a 'them' problem, it's an 'us' problem. We need to help us."

  • he sounded like the infomercial guy with all the ? ? ? ? marks at the end.

  • I'm glad you brought up the fact that those in poverty are still people. I've met quite a number of homeless people and most of them are awesome people.

  • I think Hank could sell <ou an<thing, he's as jokes as that

  • Comment 126:

Listen to how he says "people".

    It's like PEE POLL

  • I love your euthanism Hank its really cool. A lot of people around the world need help and I think this is brillant Hank.

  • You could totally put some money aside for a few months and then donate that, and when you get it back, you can loan it to someone else! And then when they pay that back, you can loan it out again! Wow...I cant wait til I get paid. Awesome!

  • i got that excited when i donated too!

  • where in the dominican republic did you go?

i went with my school to monti cristi on a community service trip to teach english, and i totally agree... seeing that way of life makes you feel grateful for what you have! it was surprising to me how happy the people were, even though they were in really crappy situations.. they mostly just chilled and said hi to the people that walked by. it was an awesome experience!

  • Hank-

Is that a Li'l Brudder shirt that I spy?

  • Kind of relates to the topic doesn't it?

  • um sorry. hank is definetly the more attractive brother.

  • i love all your excitement! :)

  • you have a really good spanish accent.

  • THIS WAS MADE ON MY BIRTHDAY

  • me2!

  • Oooh Shared Birthdaaayss.

    :D

  • Happy Birthday Yesterday.

    29th Of June Right?

    :D

  • me too!

  • It makes me very happy that this was posted on my birthday. I emailed my dad the link to Kiva, and I'm going to insist that donating money is my birthday present. This makes me happy.

... I'm redundant, but we can be redundant when we're helping people.

  • aw thats a nice presant :) its good to know that there are people out there who care about others. good for you! x and happy belated birthday.

  • i agree!

    kudos lizellelbns!

  • 6 Monthes Down.

  • yey, john won! woot! ;P

  • I spent another night watching Q2. Priceless as I've come to expect now... and a lot more things are making sense. Sadly, the new week is upon us, and I actually have to do work, so Q3 and Q4 might have to wait a week. But I'll be watching your new stuff in the meantime!

  • hahaa i love when he gets so excited about stuff

reminds me of a little kid

  • Woohoo! Microfinance of awesome. I'm definitely gonna start doing this when I have money again.

  • I wonder how small the loans have to be? Because I've got 30 dollars on a credit card for Christmas, and I'd like to spend it there.

  • for Kiva, 25 dollar loans are the norm i think

  • $25.00 is all you can give for now until your loan has been paid back.

    its so cool!!!

  • if you stop it just right at 3:17, that's like the funniest face ever. :)

  • Looking back at these videos, it made me realize how much more Nerdfighters started watching you and John after Deathly Hallows :]

  • That's when I started watching. ;)

Of course now I am rewatching them over Christmas Break becaue I'm going to miss these guys in 2008. :-(

  • And me.

  • Is that a "L'il Brudder" T-shirt you're wearing?!?!?!?!?

    Because that's just awesome!!!

  • No offence, but I think John is cuter :D

  • Aww, I disagree! I'd say that Hank is the cute one, but John is the handsome one. :)

  • once again... thank you guys for sharing this ... =)

    ** hank said bulsh*t!!

  • John isn't cuter than you and you aren't cuter than John! You're the same amount of cute xD

  • hehehehe john is cuter :)

  • they're nerds. there is a difference. and not just nerds... NERDFIGHTERS.

  • yay! more cussing! i love when geeks swear lol.

  • I really hope your newfound popularity with the youtube population increases awareness of microfinancing those women. I haven't watched all of your more recent videos, so I dunno if you have already done this, but maybe you could bring it up again? Just a quick mentioning...if even just one new nerd fighter loaned money it would at least be something, right? ^_^ Use your new rock star power for good, not evil. Or something like that.

And sugar in the morning works for you. xD

  • Umm, I veto that statement.

MORE sugar in the mornings is strongly encouraged. hehe.

    He's fun when he's excited.

  • Cool, I am definitley looking into this. :)

  • john ill see u on monday

  • cool, thats cool.

  • WOOT this was on my birthday :-D

  • I'm going to use my econ degree to further the microfinance movement.

Yay for the B20 shout out!

  • This guy is pretty cool and funny! That Harry Potter song was fantastic...It takes courage to keep posting all this great stuff! Keep up the great work!

  • I THINK UR SO WAY CUTER THAN UR BRO!!!!!!!!! And sorry for my lame-o text talk, I'm a lazy typer.

  • Wow. That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I understand your getting so excited, Hank. That's kind of like saving someone's life, except without death as the second option.

  • Hank, you aren't alone in your assumptions of impoverished peoples. This is the most major hurdle we face, getting over our superiority complexes. We all deserve to have a helping hand, so thanks for getting the word out.

  • I'm trying not to be too ashamed by it...it's not something I ever thought about before. And I feel like the way poverty is portrayed in the media, and even by some non-profits, promotes that midset. It's almost like "you wouldn't kick a puppy would you? then give us a dollar." Instead of, look, here's a person who's just like you, and all she wants is an opportunity.

  • The most motivating thing I have heard in a very long time was you saying with exuberance how "normal" people are that don't have lots of money. They are just normal people. There wasn't always paper money you know. People were thought of more highly for action than speculation in the past. Speculation is the most profitable non-labor job in America right now and it is wrong.

  • whoa, I didn't know about any programs that helped you be a mircofinancier- thanks so much! I lived in the dr for a semester with a dominican family. This is such a respectful way to help people out. Like you're family or something.

    yay for kiva!
