The trouble with Cameron & Osborne is that they’ve talked to too many CEOs.
Talk to 1000 CEOs & they’ll all give the same spiel about making money in the razor-sharp “competitive” Private Sector, unlike those on the Public Sector “gravy-train”.
Total nonsense. Most private companies are heavily reliant on State contracts & subsidies at some point (customers, customers’ customers etc) & will go under when the cuts bite- the CEO just won’t admit it, as it hurts his/her vanity.
Pathetic. People in the public sector think the world owes them a living yet there is so much waste of tax payers moneys because of these fucking unions. Ive emmigrated the country because of morons like this-enjoy the protests and juvenile boycotts-GB used to be Great. Now its just losers looking for hand me downs.
Under Marc Serwotka the PCS has cared only about its own member's pay & conditions. They obstructed Labour, who wanted to use the civil service to do good - contributing to their eventual failure. They also obstructed necessary reforms to improve efficiency & effectiveness, contributing to the now widely held belief that public workers are cosseted & lazy.
The fact that we now have a Con gov & that the public supports cuts is the result of the PCS's foolish, short-term & ideological outlook.
i think mark serwotca seems rather gay and camp. i'm waiting for him to say "ooh shut that door, look at the muck on that". fucking gay cunt, if i ever see him, i'll kick his gay welsh bollox into his ignorant thick head.
His point has nothing to do with the reason the GDP was over 100%, he was stating that when this was the case we did not improve our situation by attacking public services we did by investing in them which is something we should be doing now.
@6983lnic Cause the UK really took off after all that nationalization and those socialist programs were implemented... oh wait, that lead to a long downhill slide that resulted in the IMF being called in.
Any improvement happened in spite of, not because of, "investing" in "public services." The public sector does not create wealth, it consumes wealth.
@anon2999 "The public sector does not create wealth, it consumes wealth."
What utter bollocks! I don't suppose you know that the Royal Mail continues to run on a profit... are you of the opinion that our rail services have improved since privatisation? Use your head before making sweeping ideological statements.
Very well said Mr Serwotka!

Jesus Christ, he's an idiot. He completely confused debt and deficit, I'd love to see us try to run a deficit of 52% of GDP. That would be hilarious.

Figures he doesn't know the difference between the deficit and the debt. This man has probably never looked at a balance sheet in his life.
As for his point on the UK DEBT to GDP being over 100% for a number of decades that was due to TWO WORLD WARS.
