You can't really blame the Wicked Witch of the West for being upset. Her sister was murdered and then the only thing she has to remember her by, the ruby slippers, are stolen off her corpse. It's safe to assume they rightfully belong to the WWotW, considering the Wicked Witch of the East was her only living relative, which is suggested in this film. If I were that 'wicked' old witch, I'd be pissed too!

Its funny people say that this story was in a different universe, compared to the book and musical however, this is Dorothy's perspective, she really thought she was a wicked witch, so this movie was through her eyes. Yep, she was badly burned. She disappears from the set via a trapdoor, with the action disguised by the red smoke screen which rises before the flame. The sequence was supposed to be smoke-drop-flame, but thru a timing goofup ended up being smoke-flame-drop. That put the fire on her ass! Hamilton was in recovery for nearly 2-months and when she came back to work on the movie she refused to have anything else to do with fire. That's the way I remember it anyway.
