NO! THIS BAD! MOBILE SUBSTRATE PROTECTS YOU FROM FULL CRASHES. MEANING THAT YOU HAVE TO RESTORE YOUR DEVICE AND RE-JAILBREAK IT. AND YOU CAN'T TURN ON YOUR DEVICE SO YOU HAVE TO PUT IT IN RECOVERY MODE. SO DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!

@kield27 never install infiniboard, it is one of the worst MS addons for the iOS platform. Did you try Manage -> Infiniboard (unknown source) -> Modify -> Remove?

Hey.. i deleted mobile substrate because everything else "did fail" and then it got me out of safe mode...now i dont have winterboard though because i deleted mobile substrate. I tried reinstalling winterboard but that reinstalled mobile substrate so i was forced to delete it again and thus loose winterboard again! How do i put themes on my iphone 3gs running OS 4.0.1 without winterboard...is this possible??

@musiclover32596 to reinstall Mobile Substrate, you have to switch to Developer or Hacker. But you don't have to, if you have major Safe Mode problems, you should just delete Mobile Substrate and all the addons.

@xtheasiansensationx yo i had the same problem i just fixed it go to cydia then manage click settings then click developer (no filters) then click on the search tap on bottom right of ur screen on cydia type in mobile substrate and click on that and remove it and if it freezes on you wait about 2 mins then reboot ur phone and it shuld come back up perfect good luck !!!!!

@chewbaccas123 download rockapp on cydia. Go to the same place you would on cydia from rock, and then remove the 5 column app. It will get an error. Keep saying yes until it force removes the app. That's how I did it.

dude, i deleted the mobile substrate from cydia, and now my ipod only restarts (like in a looping, stays on the apple iniciation screen, with the aple logo, and that white circle, like if it was restarting, but is like this about 6hrs!)

@djlaw56what yeah, that happened to my friend's iPod touch too, sometimes packages just install into a directory of your iPod's file system and does not need the required dependancies to be installed, which means you can install SOME winterboard themes without having winterboard installed, but you cannot activate the theme, so there is no point. Something like this happened to my friend, where he uninstalled Mobile Substrate, and SBSettings was still there. So just uninstall themes individually.

most of the mobilesubstrate addons should work, especially stacks as it is made by Steven Troughton-Smith, which is a really trustworthy developer. But it is obvious that your installation of Mobile Substrate has gone wrong or your installation of Stack has gone wrong. It does not have to be your iPod's problem, it could be the Repo's problem, so I suggest you try a different source to install it.

Icy is one of the worst installers out there. Because of the developer, Ripdev. Ripdev should really R.I.P because they make fail products like Installer.app and Kate. If Nullriver still ran Installer.app, the jailbreaking world would be much easier and more convenient, then the update to 2.0 came out and Nullriver sold their prize possession to Ripdev and everything went out of hand. Apps broke phones and iPods, nothing worked and Ripdev actually charges for fail apps like Kate and InstallerApp

no offence or anything, but if you deleted all cydia apps, you should have deleted mobile substrate. If you deleted mobile substrate, you will not have a safe mode. be more specific next time.

what did you download last on your device? if you are on 3.0 and you installed Winterboard on your 3GS long time ago, then it will keep you stuck in safe mode until you uninstall winterboard or update it to the latest version.
