Classic concert needing more recognition, I had the VHS tape hat was played more times a day for nearly forever then the amount of times Pete plus the Chorus sings the word Blood. Loved it way back then, love it even more now. A great group of Muso's put together with Pete and then we get this spectacular show that I envy each and every person who was there, Go Pete, GilMour Phillips and everyone else that blasted their instruments out in that tour ;)
I didn't know Simon was Joe Montana fan. Good on him! Hall of fame quarterback meet one of the greatest drummers living or dead. Didn't even need the percussionist here.
Pete has always been the sad, haunted poet to me, but one who never indulges in self-pity and writes about the most hurtful things in the most hidden way. I have Asperger's syndrome (high functioning autism) and have trouble understanding the hidden meaning of things, so all your comments explaining the songs' meanings are so helpful. I have my own, incorrect meanings...it's never even close! Long live the PT!!!
I love how there's a random guy playing the harmonica to Pete's left during this whole song yet I can't hear it at all. Must have been cut out of the mix or drowned out by others.
DAMN! ! THE ENERGY..IS OUT OF THIS WORLD....! JUS *LISTEN* 2 THAT MUSICAL SPIRIT THEY R THROWIN DOWN!! & PUTTIN OUT. INCREDIBLE...'So give love..and keep blood between brothers'...IF THAT DOESNT _LIFT_...U ARE DEAD!
Give blood
But then they'll sigh and they will soon forget
"where heading for the day of reckoning I'm telling ya,
Mark or Simon behind the drum kit both are great drummers so Pete choose them both! This song captures some magic. Part of my life since 1985. Stay Alive!
The music doesn't really start until the drummer comes in as far as I'm concerned. Simon''s a bitch. I was surprised how good Pete sounded. I saw The Who many times a long time ago.
The studio version of this song had the drummer from Big Country playing drums,,, uh Mark Brzzzkszzzccccki I think that may be the wrong spelling but him.
@drummer25664 I was in a band that opened on some dates for Big Country on their 1995 UK tour, and I chatted away with Mark Brzezicki quite a bit. We were chatting away about Simon Phillips, as Mark was using a similar kit set up to Simon on the tour. I can tell you now straight from the horses mouth, that Simon Phillips plays on this track.
first of all, does he ever look like he is having a great time behind the kit, i love the way he hits his cymbals, not just smashing them, there is such a way to do this without harming the cymbal, like when he hits the cymbal after the slow part, after he does a double hit descending with both sticks on toms, than does a quick roll on snare and pow, watch the way he hits that cymbal, cool, and the band all comes together with him, awesome video
Is this available on DVD? I remember seeing it on HBO or Showtime in the 80's. Then I never saw it again. Such an awesome concert. please release on DVD!!!
Smokin song and the band is firing on all eight cylinders and at the end they go into overdrive. Simon kills on this song. And those that say Pete townsend is not a great guitar player are viewing him the wrong way. He is not and never claimed to be a flashy lead guitar player he plays GRRRREAT chords and great inversions of common chords and and throws in a little lead. He is all about the song. Just like John Lennon was. Not a fantastic player a fantastic songwriter and musician.
Uh...wow,this is just all together incredible! Everyone here is at the top of their game, burning on all four engines and then some..music today seems like a joke in comparison.
@Frankenpalin ya, after all the women he could bang, david gilmore is super, and simon as well, without them, wouldn't be nearly as good, petes a better singer than a guitar player
This song twins with counterpart tune "Blue Light", from album "About Face" by David Gilmour, also starring live, here, and having Pete as guest lyricist in the album! I think that "david gilmour" words should also be added as keys to this video
hells ya Simon is the man guy don't know the word tired stam for ever...

Give Blood!

Give Blood But you may find that blood is not enough
Give blood And there are some who say it's not enough
Give blood
But don't expect to ever see reward
Give blood You can give it all but still you're asked for more
Give blood But it could cost more than your dignity
Give blood Parade your pallor in iniquity Give blood
They will cry and say they're in your debt
Give blood But then they'll sigh and they will soon forget
So give love and keep blood between brothers

White City.... one of the best albums of the 80's for sure. Simon's groove and feel
for the song cannot be touched. Pete was a producer too, so he knew what to do
and who to get.
