Dude, the best way to learn is just to mess around on the guitar on your own. That's all, that's how the first people who did it learned... Experiment.

I beg to disagree. I learnt on my own, and over 5 years out, I feel I learned how to play quite quickly. There's really no reason to take lessons, unless you have no willpower (in which case, why are you learning guitar?)
