a dinosaur by modern standards: Nikon D100 - $250 second hand from America! I attach a Nikon MC-36 remote control to its battery grip. I recently bought a Nikon D5000, also not an expensive camera. It deals with low light much better, and is fast enough to shoot every second. The poor Nikon D100 runs out of steam at faster than a shot per two seconds. See my website for more details
