My mom used to live in Dothan AL and Hartford Al in Geneva County and Ha she moved away to Minnesota her home state just because theres nothing in Dothan!!!!

Hopefully, between Country Crossings and the proposed I-10 connector, we will begin to see Dothan move into the 21st Century! There's a terrible brain drain happening. Too many of the best and brightest from the Dothan schools leave and never return. Maybe we'll see new industries and opportunities emerge. With that, maybe we'll an influx of people with new ideas.
I agree we live in Midland City and this place is very boreing at times, but the new car show opening down town was a great idea. they should have a permanent one out at the farm center or peanut festival grounds. That way if it gets big, people from all over will bring thier classic cars to dothan. Kinda like the bike fest in daytona, but with cars and here in Dothan :D

And finally there is downtown, its where the courthouse is, also it has the night time hang outs: clubs, bars, theater, they have concerts often here to, at featured players. downtown is the oldest part of dothan, it has many murals painted here as well. The city of dothan is surrounded by one road, and its a circle. so you CANT get lost here :P. a lot of the people here CAN be VERY friendly (if your children of god).
The south side- every year we have the peanut festival here, we also have a nice flee market there. a good bit of homes are there too. The west side- small stores, a water park, a small theme park, flowers hospital, westgate park (a place with a swimming pool a gym a track etc).
dothan has 5 major spots, north side - most of the restaurants are there, most of the big stores too, the north side is the busy part, almost always bad traffic. (people drive like retards in dothan). There is the east side- pretty much straight ghetto. thats also where the medical center is (needs it there).
ah i forgot to mention the fair i just hope none of that final destination3 shit happens we used to have 3 malls we only have 1 now due to the one in downtown be closed to drug dealers

Good question, indyfan. To be honest with you, I always wanted to go to America. But since I have just been to the US once and the immigration rules are very strict, I didn't know what to do at first. So some friends in Germany told me I should go to college, to begin with. Question was, where do I go? I would like to go to California, but as you know, that's an expensive place.
Those friends told me that they have once lived in Dothan (spouse was in the military, so he had classes or something in Ft Rucker), that it is a nice place, it is cheap to live (that is actually true) etc. So, here I am - but not for long anymore. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the United States of America, but I HATE Dothan.
I moved to Dothan in April 2007. I am from Germany and went to college in Dothan. I am telling you, I feel damn underchallenged, make an A in every class, have not made a single friend (and it is not about me, because in Germany I have a lot of friends!), this city is too damn religious, there is nothing you can do, and people are stupid, narrowminded and shallow. Just as a neighbor of mine said: "You picked Dothan - you picked the Asshole of the South!"
i spent one day driving around dothan and i was pulled over by a policeman because i was speeding. he was laughing when i told him that i was visiting dothan from miami.

We have lived here for over 15 years, and yet to have one single friend. Me and my wife have no place here nice to go for the weekends. We prefer mountains, and nature, not some town calling itself a city, and bragging. If I ever here one of you say get er done. I will will personally. Redneck sickos. Bush lovers. War hungry prideful nasty shallow etc. Dont even look at this town or you might puke.

Dothan has nothing but resturants. These are not healthy ones but mostly fast food. This causes this town to have more unhealthy over weight people. These people have pride, and are only friendly to those in their circle which is red necks usually. For fun people play bingo or gossip. God your pride Dothan

I also like how they took a shot of the ONE nice corner in Downtown Dothan and somehow managed to make it look like a thriving, bustling, busy area. But the video was well-made, I'll give them that.
