I have tried to install windows xp on my MacBook Pro, but it sais that some files cannot be moved, It sais I have to format the disk, I have tried that, but then it sais the disk can not be formatted because it is damaged, I have not yet contacted apple about this, should I?
when mine restarts it says it cant boot from disk and to press any key to restart, but no matter what i press it wont restart. so when i go into boot camp and try to remove the partition, it cant find it. what have i dont wrong?
@midnightBMW Install the BootCamp drivers, then the brightness buttons etc will work. You install the BootCamp drivers when you insert the Mac OS X install disk after Windows is installed. Easy.
this is my very first mac mini and all i want is xp to play my windows games cuz i cant on mac which sucks but i play HLDM2 on mac my dad is gonna try to get me a xp cd in work tomorrow but i'll keep this in my favorites kool vid 2
@MacHelper44 Unless you have the latest and newest Mac mini, the integrated graphics is just pants, so no HLDM2 for you unless you are used to looking at a jagged stuttering gameplay...
hey what kind of your mac my is powermac g5 i bought it from an other guy i am not sure that it is a intel base or not the think is i can not fing the bootcamp in it so do i have to download it some where and instal it, i want to instal windows in it
I´ve installed windows 7 by bootcamp as you did. But now, when I boot my system, it boots on windows as first choice, to boot mac OS X, I got to keep the Option key pressed and choose mac, how do I boot mac OS X as first choice?
@drjblf Pressing the option key and choosing OS X /should/ set OS X as the default OS to boot. You could try opening the boot camp control panel within Windows from the icon in the system tray and choosing OS X there as the boot drive.
I was thinking about doing something similar if I get a Mac mini. The difference was that I was going to use Media Center Edition instead of Home Edition. What is the fastest partition I could use in Windows without making Mac OS X slow?
@DevilGene66 Very safe. Of course things can go wrong, but nothing is "likely" to go wrong. Windows should install just as well on a Mac as on a PC (or better in some cases).
@lukeool It helps but you may be able to manage with a wireless one. You would have to hope that they connect during windows set up and try and figure out how to do everything with they keyboard if the mouse doesn't work. I would recommend having a wired keyboard just to be sure. You don't want to get stuck in the middle of the setup process because the wireless keyboard decides it won't connect.
So this will be my first Bootcamp install, I am going to buy XP Service Pack 3 that should install correctly right? Or would I need a previous SP for it to work =)
@aldoulysses You need to hold down the alt key on your keyboard as your Mac boots, just after you hear the startup chime. It then gives you the option to boot into either OS. There's also an app called BootChamp which lets you restart into Windows from the OS X desktop without having to mess around with holding alt.
Dudee, can you give me the site to get the copy of mac install dvd. coz I lost mine. thanks ! And btw, if you're going to use that cd, is it going to change your system on mac ?
@shunsuki27 Sorry, I don't know where you would get it from. Try just looking for the bootcamp drivers for Windows because that's all you need. Anything you do in Windows doesn't affect OS X.
@jaketvee Well, I can't use my windows because I don't have Mac Install DVD to insert in. There's no internet on my windows, so yeah. I just only need that CD T_T ..
i want to ask thing mate if i got to my store get windows xp for imac do i need any disk that came with my mac cuz i lost them or can i install windows xp and then the bootcamp thats it
@JHgamer101 You need the OS X install disc for the Windows drivers. The OEM copy of XP was about £70 but I would recommend Windows 7 now. XP's getting a bit old.
Can you plz. suggest what should I do in case I deleted Boocamp partition and recreated a Partition on the same amount of unpartitioned space and install xp.
What do you think could be problematic?

@adhuxley Probably not because the reinstallation CDs will only work with the computer they came with - they'll realise it's the wrong hardware and not install.
ok somone help me PLEASE! i just brought a Macbook & it came with Bootcamp :)

im really confused?? so please help. & i also dnt want to take risk's w/ it bc its only new and i dnt want it to crash :/
@extrem1593 Wireless should be fine if it has a usb receiver, but I would suggest having a wired one on hand just in case. My bluetooth (Apple) keyboard didn't work until the drivers were installed in Windows.
It is a great video, very clearly demonstrated how to use Boot Camp installer process to partition hard drive and then, install WIN XP on a Mac Machine.
@prankphonecalls1 The easiest way is to copy all of your files onto an external hard drive. You could also just use a USB flash drive or DVDs if you haven't got may files. You can get software which will clone your hard drive, to make it easier to restore if something goes wrong, but if you've got the original OS discs, you really only need to back up your documents, music, photos, etc.
@xPersianSkaterx You should back it up anyway, a hard drive can fail at any time. 3 hard drives I've had over the past 8 years have failed. The choice is yours. Nothing should go wrong, but there's a risk. It's up to you to decide how important your data is to you.
well to be honest I have nothing really important on this Macbook, but the problem is when I tried to partition my Hard Drive with Boot Camp, it required me to back up my Hard Drive and use Disk Utility to restore information to my start-up Hard Drive. I think I have to, then. but the thing is, I can't find a USB or anything around my house to back up my Hard Drive on.. So I guess I have to buy one :/. thanks for your help.
@xelentoliver I have actually had problems with wireless internet in boot camp, too, but most of the time it's fine. XP is getting old, you may be better waiting (for Apple to officially support it in BootCamp) and getting Windows 7. With a student discount (if you're a student) you can get it for as low as £30.
well xp needs less RAM for games than say vista so it might work better with mac hardware but games might be starting to be incompatible with xp because of how old it is. its like making new games for ps2, they're starting to dwindle
if u have a retail copy of win xp installed, call the customer support-replacement parts people. this wont work if its oem. otherwise, its usually cheapest on places like ebay.

It's bad quality and 4:3 because I compressed it a lot for YouTube so I could upload it quickly.

take final cut for video editing!!!!
freeridediablo2 2 years ago
Final Cut Express doesn't look much better than what I have now and Final Cut Studio is far too expensive.

Andnich2924 2 years ago
It's not better than what I have for Windows. I don't use Movie Maker. :P I have Pinnacle Studio but I'm hoping to soon get the Adobe Production Premium Suite.
jaketvee 2 years ago
If you have a Mac then why don't you use Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro?
chrgrs21 2 years ago
Final Cut Express isn't powerful enough and Final Cut Pro is too expensive.

That jumpy audio is driving me crazy!
Regardless, good video. :)

Sorry about that, I'll try to avoid it in future.

Vmware is better-looking in my opinion, but it does go really slow sometimes. I haven't used Parallels for long enough to talk about it.
