@midnightBMW Install the BootCamp drivers, then the brightness buttons etc will work. You install the BootCamp drivers when you insert the Mac OS X install disk after Windows is installed. Easy.

@drjblf Pressing the option key and choosing OS X /should/ set OS X as the default OS to boot. You could try opening the boot camp control panel within Windows from the icon in the system tray and choosing OS X there as the boot drive.

@DevilGene66 Very safe. Of course things can go wrong, but nothing is "likely" to go wrong. Windows should install just as well on a Mac as on a PC (or better in some cases).

@lukeool It helps but you may be able to manage with a wireless one. You would have to hope that they connect during windows set up and try and figure out how to do everything with they keyboard if the mouse doesn't work. I would recommend having a wired keyboard just to be sure. You don't want to get stuck in the middle of the setup process because the wireless keyboard decides it won't connect.

@aldoulysses You need to hold down the alt key on your keyboard as your Mac boots, just after you hear the startup chime. It then gives you the option to boot into either OS. There's also an app called BootChamp which lets you restart into Windows from the OS X desktop without having to mess around with holding alt.

@shunsuki27 Sorry, I don't know where you would get it from. Try just looking for the bootcamp drivers for Windows because that's all you need. Anything you do in Windows doesn't affect OS X.

@JHgamer101 You need the OS X install disc for the Windows drivers. The OEM copy of XP was about £70 but I would recommend Windows 7 now. XP's getting a bit old.

@prankphonecalls1 The easiest way is to copy all of your files onto an external hard drive. You could also just use a USB flash drive or DVDs if you haven't got may files. You can get software which will clone your hard drive, to make it easier to restore if something goes wrong, but if you've got the original OS discs, you really only need to back up your documents, music, photos, etc.

well to be honest I have nothing really important on this Macbook, but the problem is when I tried to partition my Hard Drive with Boot Camp, it required me to back up my Hard Drive and use Disk Utility to restore information to my start-up Hard Drive. @xelentoliver I have actually had problems with wireless internet in boot camp, too, but most of the time it's fine. XP is getting old, you may be better waiting (for Apple to officially support it in BootCamp) and getting Windows 7. With a student discount (if you're a student) you can get it for as low as £30.
