A parte che sono vicentino, la repubblica veneziana (come le altre tre) è stata tagliata fuori dal mondo dopo il 1500 e come gli altri ducati e statarelli dell'epoca non la si può immaginare indipendente dalle vicende della penisola.

So is the carnival this weekened? Damn it, i have to find a way to be there. (I'm half italian anyway, but live in northern germany). I love that this carnival represents something so beautiful and elegant. It seems out of this world and not comparable with most other carnivals. You're video has something dreamy. Like out of a fairytale. So mysterious.

How great for a city, to have this kind of history and culture. I hope they preserve it as long as possible!

Excellent video. Certainly inspiring. What vid edit software did you use for the speeded up bit? Seemed faster than movie maker. By the way what would you recommend for video editing?

I edited this ono a PC using Adobe Premiere, but Adobe Premiere Elements is just as good for this sort of thing and much cheaper to buy.

I also have FCP on my Mac, which is a bit fiddly by comparison.

Movie Maker is my least favourite editing package of all.

Magical feeling.

I would wear various masks on a daily basis if I feel in a mood. In unpleasant a crowd of tourists in Venice, in a grocery shop, in my daugher school, in her playground, with a police officer or noisy neighbor. Wouldn't it be loverly?

I use a little Sony MiniDV camera - I think it's the HC19 or something - it's the cheapest one they make anyway! And the lens is a cheap x0.6 wide angle that cost £40 from a photographic shop. I edited it using Adobe Premiere Elemnts. It's not what's inside your camera that matters, it's what's inside your head...

Thank you very much for your kind words...I shoot using a very small Sony camcorder - one that will fit in my pocket for ease of use...and I try to think of how it will be edited as I shoot it. Then I digitise it onto my PC and edit it to music using Adobe Premiere Elements. I still have my Venice videos from 2005, 2006 and 2007 to edit and upload, so watch out for those...

I loved the Venice Carnival 2007 so much, it was such an incredible experience. Unfortunately didn't take my camcorder, but I got some incredible still photos. The weather was perfect too.

You have some really beautiful shots here, you certainly can use a camcorder.

This is wonderfully assembled. I particularly like how you handled the issue of the rain...moving the subject matter from dreariness to colorful celebration. It leaves one thinking you didn't mind the rain at all, which I'm certain is the case. It was my wife's idea to put venice carnival in as a search, and I did so reluctantly. This entertaining clip made a fool of my bad attitude. This was delicious.
