  • made my day!!! thanks downloadmusic .im

  • Honestly, I'm glad Pink Floyd didn't score the film. The music is sheer brilliance in the movie.

  • 2001: A Space Odyssey "Director Stanley Kubrick asked Pink Floyd to score the film, and Roger Waters has said he regrets having turned down the offer." Could you fucking imagine how amazing that would have been!?

  • A brilliant fusion of genius

  • DO THINK ALIENS IN THE FLYING SAUCERS, FLY AROUND LISTENING & "IN ALL," BY PINK FLOYD'S MUSIC. I KNOW I DO!! lol!

  • "on the run" fits better on the star-travel sequence, but anyway this is great!

  • He's at ludicrous speed.

  • any moment it will go plaid

  • This is the song Echos off of the Meddle album......

  • @Plumpkatt1 -YES IT IS!!!

  • what is name of the song

  • @Tiefighterr Echoes

  • what is the name of this song?

  • @Tiefighterr -ECHOES

  • whats the name of the song

  • what is the name of this song??

  • what is the name of the song?

  • Imagine watching this in 3D. There would be a bunch of human shaped holes in the seats from people jumping back.

  • Orgasmic doesn't even begin to describe how such a phenomenal marriage exists.

More like a copulation of imagination.

  • Amazing.. 5 stars

Watch my comfortably numb version on my channel ; )

  • So Kuberick wanted this tune for this scene in the movie? Why was it not used?

  • @Fooblestheclown the use of classical music in this movie was quite essential

  • The lyrics to Echoes were actually about space originally. They were changed before Pink Floyd recorded it for Meddle because they didn't want to be labeled as a "space rock" band.

  • nice

  • great vid t looks just like my dreams sometimes and i listen to pinkfloyd constantly maybe i just remembered this but i dont care it kicks ass

  • Truely awesome. I never understood the ending to 2001 until I read a comment on it which made total sense. What Bowman is seeing is the big bang and creation of the universe - i.e the ultimate truth/trip.

  • Is this remastered? It looks so fresh.

    PS

This looks like an acid trip. I've never been on one, but it's on my short list of things to do before i commit suicide.

  • the best way to commit suicide would be too take a whole bunch of drug and jump out of a plane, no parachute with echoes playing from ipod to really good headphones, the stargate part.

  • why would you tell him something like that? Fucking asshole.

  • well if your gonna do that you need a bunch of money and a plane, and it would pretty cool way to die, if you were gonna.

  • suicide is for selfish cowards

  • I couldn't agree more.

  • @part2themovie it looks amazing while tripping... easily the coolest video i've seen on trips.

  • Magic Pink Floyd !!

  • The reason for the Ummagumma cassette tape having the songs in a different order is for the simple reason of making the two sides equal in length thus using the least amount of magnetic tape. This was standard practice with cassettes and Ummagumma was in no way unique.

  • A few facts: the film was released in 1968, two years before Atom Heart Mother, so Kubrick could not have asked to use Atom in the film as it hadn't even been written then. Echoes was written as about 2 dozen short pieces entitled "nothing parts 1-24" and released as Echoes in 1971, 3 years after the film. Pink Floyd have always denied any remote connection between the film and Echoes.

  • como para ver fumado!!! O.O!!

    MARIHANA!!!!

  • Echo ftw

  • amazing when it goes to halftime at 3:06

  • i dont know about synch, thats a bit of a stretch. but the musig goes brilliantly with the film anyway!!

  • a great scene without drugs

  • pink floys is ballz.

    gyorgi ligeti is the man.

nothing comes close to ligeti's compositions

  • smoke some great weed and watch it!

  • @Swordman401 you know what's up !

  • LOVe THIS MOVIE

SMOKE A OUNCE AND WAtch it:d

  • Wrong substance.. 100-200 micrograms of LSD or an oral dose of DMT would probably be the way to experience it.

  • I liked this movie and I wasn't high... guess you don't like it THAT much.

I could drug myself into laughing at "Schindler's List", but that doesn't mean anything.

  • I guess my comment was a little too vague and caused you to perceive some false implications. I wasn't suggesting that you must take a psychoactive compound to enjoy this movie. I was simply saying that if you are going to do so a psychedelic would be the best option. If you talk about smoking pot and watching this film you must not have realized the profound nature of the psychedelic experience. Profound state of mind + Profound film = Profound experience. That's just how I see it .

  • Lol dmt? Youd trip for just a few minutes and wouldnt even be present enough to watch the movie. Unless of course oral doses do something EXTREMELY different from other methods.

  • Oral DMT is more like a mushroom trip. It lasts around 4-6 hours and of course you can have "sub-psychedelic" experience, that is an experience where you can still be somewhat attached to everyday "reality" but still be in a state of heightened awareness.

  • Oh cool. I had no idea. Makes sense though now that i think about it. Cheers.

  • ummagumma?

this is echoes, isnt that only off meddle?

  • It isn't on "Ummagumma". Hahaha.

  • i mean look at the details on the top right, it says its from the ummagumma cassette tape

    i know its on meddle

  • Yeah I see that. What the heck?

  • What a great song, what a great movie.

I can't believe space odyssey is from 1968. It is so well made, and how did they do those effects back then?

  • Small models, rotating sets. And for the light thing, I think they set up this wierd mirror thing. Try IMDB, if you want a more clear cut answer =)

  • I was blown away when I saw this movie in CINERAMA 41-years ago. Still holds up as the best Sci-Fi movie ever made. Like all good scince fiction, it both makes you think, and engenders a "sense of wonder".

  • thanx 4 th info

  • The REAL sync is with this scene and One of these Days. Watch and notice how the keyboard notes sync with the cuts to his face

  • Busted. What are you people smoking? If PF wanted to sync a track with anything, they'd have done a better job than this. The "syncs" we see here are coincidental, few and far between, and unimpressive, except for the overall atmospheric match. One of the only useful syncs I saw, is when Dave's trip ends, and the Victorian-style hotel room appears, and Echoes transitions temporarily to a quieter segment. There's no 2001 sync at Echoes' crescendo, none when Dave changes to the Star Child, etc.

  • if you sync it correctly, it is totally supposed to match up with it. PF wanted to know if they could do a piece for the movie, and kubrick denied. echoes came out three years after 2001 ASO. if you line it up correctly, everything matches up.

  • I did sync Echoes and 2001 correctly, with the first ping of Echoes playing at the moment when the title "Jupiter (and Beyond the Infinite)" appears, and the results, for me anyway, were what I posted above. As I said, if there were real syncs, there would have been syncs at all, or at least most, of the major transitions in both productions, but there are too few, and unimpressive ones, and so all the syncs are coincidence. Reports about PF's and Kubrick's intentions don't prove anything.

  • Actually, Kubrick requested the use of a song from Atom Heart Mother, but he wanted exclusive rights to edit the song and splice it in order to fit the film. PF denied him because they didn't agree with the contract.

  • he wanted to use a atom heart mother for a clockwork orange

  • Actually, he paid homage to that album (still peeved he didn't get to use it on 2001) by placing the album cover in the scene where Alex is walking through the ultra-technicolor mall. It's at the record shop when he stops, as is the soundtrack for 2001.

But the Atom Heart Mother issue was for 2001. I saw it on one of the making of documentaries for that movie.

  • impossible due to the fact that 2001 as released in "68 and atom heart mother was from 1970, and a clockwork orange was "71

Moreover, Stanley Kubrick reportedly asked permission of Roger Waters (Pink Floyds bassistlyricist) to use elements of the Atom Heart Mother (1970) suite; Waters refused. Later, Waters asked Kubrick if he could use sounds from 2001: A Space Odyssey; Kubrick refused. Wikipedia

  • @767fife Both fools.

  • Needs more clock

  • thats that song echoes not sysyphus

  • Its also strange to note that a mason, (as in dave) is a bricklayer and he got the brick from stanly kuBRICK.Floyd likes hammers and the astronaughts brought a hammer to the moon to help build the wall i guess.I think I think too much

  • I can definitely see it happening. I was thinking Pink Floyd when I first saw this movie. So chill and thought provoking, thanks for uploading!

  • Dude, I love Pink Floyd too, in fact i think it's like the best band ever... But you really need to get a life...

  • Oh, on Dave's wild ride, it was his first trip, he was "Learning to fly".You can tell by the look ih his eye "Like black holes in the sky"And he had to eat that gross space food, but "How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?"Inside DARK SIDES 30TH anniv reissue there is a pic of aliens looking at the pyramid on the moon looking for creative intelligence but got nill resonse.Thi IS creative intelligence from "The machine".Or maybe it's "Brain Damage", it"s "extremely odd" (HAL).

  • interesting

each time i see the movie reminds me of a song by the pixies called monkey gone to heaven

but i didnt realise the similarities thats awesome

  • Read me bottom to top

  • Good bullshit"

  • Now he wants to "Have a cigar" & all Dave can do is "Breathe in the air",but "the old man died"(us& them).5.The astronauts brain waves can be found inside DARK SIDES cover.6.When Dave&Frank were in the pod(head) "Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying"(Comfortably numb)"There's someone in my head, but it's not me"There is even more.HAL is "The machine", that controls thought "We don't need no thoughts controlled"(The Wall). You might think coinSYDence,"But don't give me that goody

  • Lots of similarities between Pink Floyd & 2001"I'm sure you'll agree there's some truth in what I say"(HAL)1.There's a Dr.Floyd(!) in 2001.2.The monolith?"On the dark side of the moon"is really"Another brck in the wall."On Dave's wild ride,he was in "Interstellar overdrive"when he had"A look of terminal shock in your eyes"(Sheep)You would too because it was "Up & down & round & round & round"(Us & them)4.The old man is not God,"Just another sad old man all alone and dying of cancer"(Dogs)

    nice song btw :)

  • Floyd and 2001 go very well together. I have an ancient copy of Ummagumma on open reel, it's a copy of the LPs though.

  • MY GOD... No comments to be Made... Simply Amazing!!!

  • best band ever, best movie ever

  • this seen is so scary for some reason the way they show his face in acward positions for half of a sec when you least expect it. its sweet though

  • Trippin Mad Balls

  • 23 min no?

  • battle toads pink floyd is the BEST EVER no one likes u

  • dude i love the lyrics so intense

  • So the story is, the Floyd had done a soundtrack in the past for an Italian film that was considered such a disaster for a variety of reasons that they swore not to do another. So they denied Kubrick when approached to score it and immediately regretted it upon viewing of †he film. The rumor is they recorded Echoes on the Meddle album (not Ummagumma) to score with the last section of 2001, which it clearly does.

  • I have heard that as well, the truth though is that Kubrick does not see a reason to substituted modern music for classical (He does not think it can be topped). So in turn he turned Pink Floyd down. What a pity I know but I think it all worked out all right

  • Kubrick may not see a reason for substituting classical music, but he saw it after making the film however, because he comissioned a score from Alex North for Space Odissey which he did not use.

Instead Pink Floyd turned Kubrick down when he wanted to use Atom Heart Mother in a Clockwork Orange, under the basis that he wanted to use only some samples and do arranges to them.

  • never heard this one before... great !!!!!!!

  • deep this IS echoes, and this vid is supposed to be 23 minutes long (ive got the full version)

  • OK but the full version is a 2 DVD set....

Also there is a 10 minute limit on videos on youtube....

  • that was amazing! watch this video fullscreen...HOLY CRAP!

  • The full screen on youtube isnt too good of quality but the 2 DVD set is FANTASTIC quality.

  • ya man, i actually got it ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER !!!

  • @Plumpkatt1 welcome to the future. youtube's fullscreen quality depends if it's HD or not

  • try to play "echoes" by pink floyd on this scene

  • standing by the river crying and laughing ..............................anyone for a flashback lolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololsigh

  • Great song, they don't make music like this nowadays

  • i agree!!!yep

  • So do I!

  • i don't know!! but i feel that the music has nothing to do what so ever with the video.... chk out this PINK FLOYD SPACE TRAVEL... its fantastic

  • I agree. Great movie and great band and interesting juxtaposition. But a sync, by no means.

  • I've listened to the sysyphus songs alot of times, but sysyphus part IV still scares the shit out of me when I hear it when I'm alone in the dark

  • I love druggies and their trippy theories.

  • HM. This song isn't from Ummagumma is it? I thought, it was from Meddle, and the name of the song is Echoes. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure, this is Echoes.

  • I fucking love ANY PinkFloyd!

Im only 15 so nobody I know thats my age likes or aprecheate the music.

My Dad bought me up listening to it and i love it. I could listen to it all day!

I only wish that they did one more tour so I could go and see them live because there live stuff is by far the best!

    XXX

  • I'm 16 and the only music I listen to is the acid rock and classic rock of the 70's. I absolutely love all that so don't think you're alone when it comes to teenagers and Pink Floyd, I have a friend who I went to a concert with to see Roger Waters, in my opinion Pink Floyd is one of the most influential bands of all time.

  • Thank you :)

Im so glad someone else my age agree's :)

    xx

  • Yeah music today sucks in my opinion, at least the mainstream garbage they're throwing at us.

  • yeah....i agree

  • awesome vid..go to ww.globalrapture dot com watch dark side of the moon./..

  • echoes from meddles

  • how i wish, how i wish i was stoned!

  • Pink Floyd was originally going to do the soundtrack for this movie, but it was changed at the last second, so thats probably why it syncs so well: lazy editing of the original Floyd version...

  • Damn man,....WOW! I need a hit of acid now, to make it more enjoyable

  • The best thing about Pink Floyd is that you don't get the full effect of thier music until you listen to it in bed falling asleep :D awesome!

  • Finally someone else who falls asleep listening to Pink Floyd, I thought I was a Psycho listening to the Wall. It's true though you have the trippiest dreams if you listen to Pink Floyd sleeping.

  • Yeah! the dark side of the moon is like a tranquiliser drug taken aurally :D

no matter where i am if i listen to that album i just drift into a deep sleep. i reckon Pink Floyd made it like that delliberately.

  • pink floyd is the best to sleep to but the best is wish you were here because of the slow drifting start. I'm not sure I could sleep to the wall though...

  • Agreed, I don't get the same feeling after I listen to the album a second time through though, but I still love falling asleep to Echoes or A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

  • what version of Echoes is this.....ive never heard the middle solo go on for so long...and its the best part

  • love pink floyd

  • so high...so good

  • this is part of echoes 2001 space oddessy but that thing goes for like 20 minutes

  • those are casinos..look close

  • what are casinos?

  • how do i look close and casinos were you bet..........fuck it doesnt have sense

  • casinos are fly and there you see arglebargy ARF Arf arf...

  • Dude Pink Floyd pwns soooooooooooo bad #1 band of all time!!!

  • what's all the talk about? are you guys stoned? many say they are...

  • This song gets better the more you listen to it. I'm finding that Meddle is among my favorites at the moment. It has such a mellow, happy groove.

  • Makes me wanna Trip Out again man! great video n band! Flink Floyd is one of the best all time!!

  • pink floyed rocks!!!!

  • 4:20 Baby!!!

  • But... your description doesn't match the video - this song isn't from "Ummagumma"!!

This is actually the preview clip of the 2001 sync to "Echoes", from the "Dark Side Of The Rainbow" DVD.

  • pink floyd's best song!!! from meddle!

  • amazing... honestly

  • Fuck me. this is beautiful to watch when you are stoned. Absolutely lovely.

  • im 15 n i love pink floyd which is weird i usaly on like rap n rnb but pink floyd is 1 of my favs specaly comfertly numb loves it

  • if you are stupid enough to press alt f4 you need smacked it will close any window like you internet or any thing thats open and if you do it on the desktop it will ask you to shut down the computer restart it or put it in stand by mode try it if you dont belive me

  • I heard about the sync and tried it out. Echoes is my favorite song and 2001 is one of my favorite films. And the song itself always had the space feeling to it. Damn straight.

  • definitely the best song of Pink Floyd!

  • "Pink Floyd "2001: A Floyd Odyssey"" is a featured video at The Video Blog:

    thevideosblog.blogspot

  • mmmmmmmmm madre mia what's nice song i like it

  • Amazing what people see with the aid of cannibas

  • and wat do you think i am doing right now.

  • no fucking kidding tuttt99 lol im fucking baked right now and i feel like im acculy in tha movie haha

  • im the exact same thing man sweet come find me some day

  • hell yeah thts wats it about man!!!!

    ps its 420 soon!!

  • great the film as great the music.

  • this is a clip from a 24 minute version. It's the very last 24 minutes of the movie and the entire lenght of echos. Does anyone know where to find that version? My friend burned a dvd for me, but I lost it. It's amazing! Not like the wizzard of oz where the coincidences are few and far between, the whole 24 minutes feels like the true score of Space Odysey.

  • I have it, amazing to say the least.

  • is this the movie? where can i find the movie at? i wanna see what the hype is all about.

  • Maximus Bongimus Pullimus...

  • gotta love the stargate sequence... but i think "Dark Side of the Rainbow" is better...

  • Bueno, pero prefiero la secuencia original con música de Ligeti

  • not bad. i love the movie and floyd, but pheadra by tangerine dream would be much more suitable

  • the meddle / 2001 sync .. try starting echoes when the words "" jupitar & beyond " appear.'' 1 of these days'' goes with the 1st scene " the dawn of man...start after the words 2001 enjoy

  • nothing on any other Floyd album even comes close to Echoes.

  • This sequence is still as beautiful as I remember seeing it for the first time, some twenty years ago. It's a pity that 2010 hasn't aged as well.

  • Very good music to describe a very good film.Only Floyd could decribe it so.

  • One of the best film that I saw in my life and I did not know that was Pink Floyd.

  • i think they were right to turn down kubrick , i mean sp.oddissey as it is is already a brain burner, with a p.f trip inside, viewers would really fly too high..
