  • @traxgod2 get to colossus as fast as you can while still dumping out gateway units. If you see MMM try to delay it until you get your robo units out. Sentries help, but they're very gas intensive. Or you could try going for HT's, each route is expensive though. That's what we get to live with as Protoss. That's why we're given our friend the observer. :D :D :D

  • @cxa117 this video is soooo outdated and so is most of the stuff on youtube, so I would recommend you to go to teamliquid and look at the strategy forum there

  • @cxa117 in basically every game you play (versus any race), you will want to research warpgate IMMEDIATELY after your cyber finishes. in this specific build, you throw down your robo after you've started researchiing warpgate and can afford it. I should warn you rushing to colossus off one base is very out of date and borderline unviable in the current pvt metagame. It should only be done when facing against a 1base all in.

  • I tried doing exactly this but the marines and marauders still kill me. I've been trying to practice against "Very Hard" AI with several strategies including this one and I always fail. I have not once beat them. What am I doing wrong?

  • @firedragonsage88 mainly u should really forcefield ya ramp...

    u also HAVE to get enough units. try to seperate the army at the beginning. e.g. when they try to get up ya ramp. if the units trapped on the ramp try to run back, u can shoot them with your stalkers, if they go up u will win the fight easily, cause its only half as strong

    but dont mind too much. theres not sooo much players doin this. try to experiment. and another tip: DO NOT PRACTICE AGAINST AI. i wont help ya against players^^

  • @jimmyis904 It is a "build order" -- a standard way to describe the purchases of a StarCraft player, similar to the piece-move notation used in chess. The number is the supply level at which you get whatever the purchase is. '9 Pylon' means 'build workers until you have 9 supply's worth then build a Pylon'. Internet search for "read build order" for more information.

Also BAck Up units: A couple of Colossus and Void Rays to kill Medivacs although if you have enough stalkers and sentries it's ok. Just basic T1 Units the trick is get lots of them.   • @gNAKgNOKs He most likely assumed that he was going MM, because it is probably the most powerful build as terran against protoss.  DO PLAY PROTOSS! Alot of the time they will go this build, especially in the lower tiers, since it is SOOO powerful, it is even used in progaming and noobs can do it!

  • No Husky hate or anything, but I think it's wrong for Husky to make a video on how to stop marauders. He should instead focus on teaching a player how to see the marauders coming and not these small little tricks and builds that help against one small build/push. Its more important that a player knows how to see such an aggressive timing push and the proper macro and overall game plan to handle it.

  • @geegeewp lol, wtf are you smoking? so it's wrong for husky to teach new toss players how to SURVIVE vs an early MM push? If the MM makes it up the ramp, toss is dead, no questions about it. Why are you talking about macro? Yea macro is important but if you don't survive this early game push, there ain't gonna be any macro you need to take care of anymore. I agree that he should give tips on how to see if T are going MM, but uhh.. stopping it is just as important.

If Day[9] were to make some sort of tutorial vid on how to hold off PUSHES(not just the 3/4rax t1 push) he would be covering completely different topics. I'm almost certain that Day9 would almost completely discuss macro/timing/builds/scouting and the mentioning the FF on the ramp would be minimal. In fact, Day9 might actually say that solving problems the way Husky would is wrong. I love his vids and personality, but this........

Just Google search StarCraft II, go to the official blizzard community site for it, and click on the article that says "Situation Report: Patch 1.1 and Beyond"

    No specific date for a release but I do believe I read somewhere on the SCII forums that it would be before the end of this month. No idea when the free name change will occur either.

  • I think there is a better way to defend the rush.

    I usually go -

    9 pylon (obviously)

    13 Probes (Chronoboost)

    While the 13th probe is in production I build a gateway -

    And about 1/3rd of the production time I get my first gas.

    Get a Cyber. after gateway is finished.

    Then get Warp gates research, and get another gateway whilst chronoboosting Gateway research.

    Get another gateway and start getting mass stalkers followed by 2 - 3 Gaurdians.

    A 4th gaurdian isnt bad for Gaurdian shield.

  • @Munkatten A timing attack is an attack at a specific time. That is, a point at which they are weakest.

    A timing attack is also generally very similar to a midgame push. If your opponent just built an expo, a good timing attack would be waiting for it to finish, attacking it, and then destroying their army, and then attacking their main base.

  • Its possible to defend by going economy centric build as protoss too.

    If you go for 13 gateway you can get your first stalker out literally the same time, 4:20 but by that time you will have 3 more probes ;) At 7:30 you can have 2 zelaots 3 sentries an immortal and a stalker out because of the slight economic advantage.

  • ridiculous how a PROTOSS has to wall like that from ground unites. Protoss should have the strongest unites as they cost the most and are the slowst to make. Marauders on the other hand are extremely easy to make and cheap to make. are we expected to wall and be experienced as this toss player to beat ur average terran player who does nothing but 3 barrek build and M rush?

    Doesn't matter. The majority of Terran matches won't last longer than the M rush. Like i said b4, does blizzard really expect the average toss player to wall like this? This match really showed me how ridiculous Terrans are. I mean this toss player did AMAZING just to beat a nub Terran who doesn't build unites past barreks. Didn't even build a tank for heavens sake. I bet the only reason he got high is because of how overpowered terran are right now.

  • @arabjin666 an average terran player won't have the skill to properly manage resources and build orders to produce marauders in a manner that would seriously threaten an average protoss player. if you think 99% of terran users play like the guy in the video, you haven't played enough to know what's going on in the battlenet.

    I'm in the platinum league (rank 8) and I play as terran most of the time. Just about all protoss players in the league can effective defend my early marauder attacks.

  • @luv2sd an equally skilled terran should be able to successfull rush a toss player through his gateway unites. you are getting out played. if a toss player is walling it means his not going for gateway unites and is probably going air. you shouldn't be building M at the first place.

    The problem is (as husky mentioned) on maps with a wide ramp...

    Main thing is really to get your sentry ready and also BE ready (scout to see when he's pushing out). Get 1 or 2 Immos out and start researching thermal lance asap...and watch them burn :)

  • @jDynamicMK You get a decent amount of units and attack then - due to strict build order you can say after what time he'll attack since it takes a certain time to get a certain amount of units.

    So yeah, it isn't really rush, but it is not really NO rush.

  • @jDynamicMK A timing attack is not purely rush, per se, but involves rushing at a suitable moment, judged from scouting, or intuition / experience, or so forth. A rush just rushes units in, a properly timed, i.e. timing attack, rush pushes in with units when your opponent is exposed from trying to claim an expansion, or before he can get the countering units up, or judges that you should push hard with units when he's heavily focused economically building up before he runs away economically.

  • @WallieTF not really marauders basically own every starting gate unit, stalkers are good but the best is zealots with charge, even marauders with slow can't stop them, at least that is the best agianst me because as a terran i use this a ton and usually zealots with charge are hard to deal with so really zealots with charge and some stalkers for good measure and for something to fall back on are the best.

  • @adamasagex weell... im not a pro but i havent really gotten problems with reapers.. i keep 2-3 stalkers with my workers in early game and reapers just get eaten up by them. And remember if he is rushing you with reapers be sure to send your zealots and 1-2 stalkers to his base to bash things up because its very likely he dosent have any kind of defence. I am not a pro-gamer but this tactic has worked 4 out of 5 times if he reaper rushes

  • @adamasagex yeah what wallie said one stalker basically owns reapers all day, and for zerg place a spine crawler in your mineral line it doesn't hurt mining at all and usually people with reapers try to kill your drones so a spine crawler prevents reapers very well, however thats what people do to me if there smart when i reaper rush.

  • @adamasagex I think its not very hard. first of all, scouting is very important to know that your enemy is going reapers. its like a normal tech: you put down your cyber-core and boost your first stalker. stalker got the armory to play football with reapers. also they are very usefull to kill of marauders, if you are on a cliff.

    when gate is finished you should have 150 minerals for Cyber core

    when cybercore is finished, CB a stalker out and you should be safe from the first reaper, if he makes more, make more stalkers

    when you see the reaps comin in, forcefield the gas to nexus distance that they are going towards, then forcefield behind the gass so they can not go behind the gas, and cover em with your zealots

    against reapers you could just go 12 gate 13 gate core with chronoed stalkers.

    unless your spawning points are right next to theirs, i dont see how their reaper gets to you at 12 so..you actually have a little more time than you think
