An Audi 80 coupe doesn't exist. You have the Audi 80 en the Audi coupe. They are seperate models. And its not a 2.2 unless its a 20 v so it's a 2.3 10 V. Get your facts right! But still very nice video, thanks for that.

I got audi coupe 2.3 dohc 20v :) and its 5.6 seconds to 100km/h not over 9 seconds, handling is awesome, and changing gear is good too, so wtf is he talking about? its a great car!
@163dziugas he is just scared shitless to push the pedal to the floor,i had an Audi 200,that had a 2,2 20V 162kW engine with quattro and it could do 0-60 in 6,5 seconds or so,atleast when it got off from a dead stop,it sucked me into the seat like idk what.

@163dziugas I took an S2 20 v 2.2 qauttro for a spin today (MINT) and no-way would it do 0-100km under 5.6. The weight of the thing was hurrendous! I'll buy a 90's coupe 2 wheel drive, but not an S2. And if you own a normally aspirated 20valve that does 0-100 in 5.6....well, she must have some major work done to her!
Probably the worst handling car I've ever owned. Build quality is very good, but they stopped there and forgot to make it go around corners. Way too much body roll, soft suspension and very light steering made it nervous and risky to throw into a bend.
Nice looking car but a big disappointment. Was happy when I sold it.
@bmwrallysport What a stupid comment. How well do you know me? And what exactly does your 5000 Estate (barge?) have to do with the 80 Coupe? I presume you've never owned (and perhaps even driven) the 80 Coupe or you would have said as much.
I liked the styling of the car and the build quality but the handling WAS woeful. There are many videos here and if you watch the excessive suspension travel you will agree it is too soft, which means the car cannot handle and will pitch and dive in corners.
I have a 1990 coupe quattro but it's a 2.3 engine, bought it from a salvage yard, these are so rare in the US that I couldn't see it get crushed. I have bought a rieger evo 2 bodykit for it and european projector headlights and S2 taillights thinking of doing the 4.2 conversion and just making it a show car ...

@0190Chantalle No, the S2 was based off of the 80/90 Coupe but the S2 was a turbocharged version with all kinds of upgrades ... brakes, suspension, body kit, wheels, etc.

Is it the 2.2L turbo? It says 2.2 in the description but the turbo was a pretty quick car...Here in Canada we only got the Audi 90 Coupe/Sedan, I don't know what the difference is but most people have swapped the 20v Turbo-5 into them. I've been watching the "Old Top Gear" videos for a week now, thanks for uploading, good job.
also there isnt hardly any room at all in the damn things, id much rather ride around in or drive a pontiac, more space better pick up fair handling, pretty much a better car
ummm yea dads ownd 2 of these..... one with the 2.3 5 cylinder and one with the 2.0 4 cylinder. they both pretty much sucked. i the body work is crappy and the front bumpers keep falling off. its impossible to work on, and is crap to drive
Top gear lacks only one thing and that is to tell how the car will survive with time, will its unrealiable, will it have faults which mechanics will rip money from and in the end it was a burned fuse ?
All in all TG is great, but i want the 80 cars to be reborned.

@benjicorden Audi 200 has the 20V 5cyl,pumping out 162kW unmodified,so yeah it isnt a very quick motor.Not to mention the AAN engine on the S4 and S6.
It's also very, very reliable. My dad had the Audi 100 2.3E and it lasted us for 12 great years. No trouble with the engine at all, or the car in general for that matter, apart from some minor errors. He sold it to a friend of his, and he is still driving it, he had to change the fuel pump and transmission though after another five years, but the engine is according to him still purring like day one.
I was very surprised that it was Tiff reviewing the car. I thought it was another presenter. He was very subdued compared to what we are used to from him. Maybe it was the sluggish Audi that set his mood.

This was 1989 and both Tiff Needell and Jeremy Clarkson were completely different back then, very toned down, as was Top Gear as a program.
Sluggish it may have been but I love the sound from the 5 cylinder engine!
