ive had the older model 2350XL for 4 years now and its still going strong. i guess it depends on how/what you use it for. but acers have made good computers. had my desktop for 5 years. no worries. slowed down a bit but other than that doing pretty good.

Maybe because you are being an idiot. You can build a PC for ~$500 which can perform the same, if not better than a Mac. If you like the "simplicity" of OSX, then you can make your computer a Hackintosh for maximum bang for buck, all for about a third (or more?) of the price of a Mac.

Ports 'n Plugs. Sad. The processor's alright. Lots RAM, Vista sucks on laptops. Dunno much about onboard. Three hour battery life isn't that great. The thing is thick. Who uses Firewire? I've got all those ports except s-video on my laptop. OMG QUICK LAUNCH BUTTONS. It's all right. I wouldn't buy it though, it's too awkward.

8600MGS is ok but try to aim for the "GT" version or higher.

8600MGS can handle crysis at lowest settings avg 28FPS

Nvidia = Problems with software. I got a 9800 GTX and i had problems all over the place. Sometimes the graphic card would just shut down on me and i exchanged it like 4 times, so it's not a defect. The card would like play then have fuzz, then go back to normal, then i would be in panic because i know it will turn off within 5minutes. ATI 4850 1GB i have never had a problem with. Installed, in and done. I only had a problem with i overclocked it too much and gave it an error lol, over it's great

well, while i use ATI card (4870) i would say i did have a problem. The card was overheating like crazy- solved installing RiverTuner and setting up cooler speed to 40% (15% stock), but the main problem was a problem with bios- Sapphire released bios update, but to install it in my particular way it was not possible- i was getting artifacts right at post screen- could not see a thing. RMAed and had floppy ready to update bios.

I have a desktop and a labtop. The only i was talking about was my desktop and is athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 2.8ghz 6000+. The 9800 GTX was said by a lot of people at special shops that it should work 100%. I got updates for the 9800 GTX and got 6 pins and stuff for it and got it all suited up. Crashed me like around 12 times. and that was like after 4 exchanges. 4850, 1 crash because i over clocked too much. 1 problem overheating so i got rivatuner. I always new what to do for ATI, idk about Nvidia

gallya as i stated before, this is well known problem with all ATI HD48xx series- overheating caused by driver which spins fan at 15% of its power. ATI later released a hotfix (first provided by enthusiasts)to fix the problem with cooling. Sapphire (what ive got) released bios update, cause the card was causing artifacts (P/N:188-01E85-001SA,SKU#11133­-00-XXR cards)

Also i tried to 8800 GTS and the 8800 GT, and i had concerns. They had some lagging problems sometimes which on reviews showed that it shouldnt have any lag in it at all. Oh i forgot to tell u i have 6GB of RAM so ram shouldn't have been the problem. The 8800 GTS/GT were kind of lets say "Not Satisified by the advertised product". My First card was 2400 Pro not even 1 problem, not even 1 crash after i went on nvidia (Problems started). Went to 4850 1GB and everything went fine.

And i saw reviews from Toms Hardware. or Tech power update or w.e. They said the fps should be great and stuff but i felt the slowing down sometimes while iw as playing.

Damn this laptop is VERY powerful for its size and price. An AMD Turxion Mobile CPU!? Thats the higher end more powerful CPU's, 4Gb Ram! Thats unheard of in a budget laptop. Also why are people still hating on Vista, its WAY better than XP, with the latest patches and SP1 out and it runs just as fast, people just are still riding the hate vista bandwagon and they dont know why, they just repeat what they heard on tv somewhere, dumbasses.

agreed, with the patches added to vista it's just as good. Vista has more performance control but the problem with Vista is that it uses more ram then XP. Also DWM uses a lot of power which ur supose to turn off unless ur more into style then speed. 4GB Ram is good for Vista. But if Vista were to keep all the things without turning off the DWM and stuff, then XP is faster. If you use a labtop with Vista, i suggest to turn off DWM cause that lowers the battery life which i have already tested
