Like I said, as long as he can sing journey classic songs. There's no big deal about it. We're praising AP that he sounds amazingly in a voice of a man---not a girlish's voice. He wasn't a copycat as well as imitation anyone. What we heard that he sounds better for us...that's all! :)

by the time perry could actually be with the band, i think his voice had changed a lot. even in 1986 there was attrition. if journey wanted to keep their sound they had to go with a high note singer. at some point perry could not. if you listen to his second solo album and subsequent tour vids, he didn't have the voice he had even 8 years before. that's ok. i'm glad we have all recordings we have of perry in his prime. i like to hear his now, probably a lower, richer tone.

But then there is another part of me that feels Journey should do what Van Halen did (i.e. David Lee Roth to Sammy Hagar) and just go for a different style singer altogether...someone with their own unique, original voice...rather than a Steve Perry copycat. I guess I'm torn.
