Perfect song for Liza. She reminds me so much of her mother Judy in this song!! Can you imagine how many interpretations that this specific role could bring in other famous stars? I'm wishing for a revival with Liza, and hoping that they add some more songs from the movie version(such as Shady Dame From Seville)!!
Liza is magnificent in any clips from this show...sounded like she was pounded by another member of the cast (out of jealousy) and this is too bad because it hurt everyone involved and ended the show
Liza always gets such a bad rap for VV. I don't know why. I saw her twice, and she was wonderful, bringing heart and warmth to a rather poor musical. I think Julie Andrews brought a lot to this role, one created for her. Julie is a superstar, and can do no wrong. Liza just seemed to bring so much more to the role.
Excellent job Liza!!! Even though Julie is my favorite for the show...Liza is perfect for all these songs!!!I saw Julie on broadway...but I wish that I had seen Liza in the role!!! My wish is for Victor/Victoria to come back on broadway starring LIZA!!! Thank you!!!
I saw Toni Tennille do this part...she was excellent...i would love to have seen liza and julie in person as well....all three are great!!!Does anybody have any video of Toni Tennille doing this part? if so, please post it!
Both ladies bring different elements to this show, which makes them two different shows and comparison is useless. That said, this show has more of a cabaret-like score, which is more Miss Minelli's forte.
I saw Julie Andrews do this in the movie and live and I've seen Liza do it on a bootleg and I have to say, Liza's way better. You can never believe Julie as a man, no way but Liza could be a drag queen toally..especially during this period when her voice got lower. Plus, Liza's more siuted to the score in my opinion.
