well my dad is in the marines and was stationd in iraq when he came home thank god and had a cammenga b3h compas but on his it shows on the back........ Before i tell you what it says im trying to ask is you a duplicate of the real one? ok so the one that i got says in the back MODEL 3H 21-26460-02E 120 mCL sH DO NOT OPEN CONTROLLED DI8PO8AL REQUIRED. Then it shows a Radiation sighn. so mines is real and yours is fake.
The one you're talking about is a US government issued compass or Military Issued. Any compasses that are bought directly from Cammenga outside of the military are know has commercial versions and they just have different Engravings on them and you can choose a colour other than drab green. The commercial versions are still built to military standards so they are not fake and could be used in the military and would be just as reliable.
@shaybay192 Your wrong. The only difference in the model 3H sold commercially and those sold to the military is the engraving on the back of the case. Your father's compass is a post-1999 model that was made to fulfill a government contract. It is identical in every way to any model 3H that Cammenga sells to civilians, the military simply prefers the "controlled disposal" warning on the compasses it buys.
You can use it like a regular compass if you want to.
Or if you want to use it the way it was designed to be used you set it up the way its shown between 1:35 to 1:41 and then you line up the sight wire in the lid with the slot at the top of the lens mount.
When you have done all that you point the sight wire over a distant tree for example and then look through the lens at the compass dial, that way you get a more accurate reading.
Your hands look kind of delicate and beautiful. Are you a broad?

All lensatic compasses from Cammenga are real and are built to military standards.
If it has the NATO\National Stock Number (NSN:6605-01-196-6971) on the front of it, that number will tell you that it is built to military standards
