  • Finland need the karilia.... before the winter war over 450 000 finns escape from white karelia and karelian Isthmus. Now in the full The Republic of Karelia is about 300 000 russians.... russians doesnt need karelia but finland alot..... karelia back to finland!!

  • That land belonged to Finic tribes LONG BEFORE any Novgorodians had set their foot there.

NO sword, no false talk takes away the land rights the ORIGINAL inhabitants to the district hold.

Further, if the horsethief B (Russians) steals a horse from the horsethief A (Swedes); whose horse is it. Neither ones. The horse STILL belongs to its LIGITIMATE OWNER THE FINNS!!

    Period.

There went your opportunity to become something great in Russia. So foolish of you. So sad.

  • @Blakerella

Emmehän me keskenämme kinaa kun on kyse Karjalasta. Meillä Karjalaisperäisillä on aina laillinen oikeus puhua maatamme kohdanneesta laittomuudesta.

  • Fanaticism. NOT at all. It's called JUSTICE. That is, bank robbers held up a bank, killed a teller, and got away with the stuff that didn't belong to them - AND then demanded that the bank pay "restitution" for the expenses of the heist.

At the time, Finland had the gun held to its head and had no choice but to accept. BUT NOW, when colonies are being returned to their legitimate owners, it is only right to demand Russians to relinquish their hold on lands that don't belong to them.

  • Try to get along...seriously. It's a shame that people have had to suffer when big guys played their games.

  • kiitos ♥

  • @MyrensMakt Yeah... jeltzin might have been ready to sell it... but only with all the russians left in it. Thats why we said NO F-ING WAY.

  • I am from Estonia and I think I should recognize a close relative tribe. I hate Russian apologists who are trying to justify taking Karjala away from Finland. Even as a small nation Estonia we have diverged language groups like Seto,Võro or Mulks but make no mistake there as Estonian as any other. So I would guess it's the same situation for Fins, some of the population is occupied. Hell, even Estonians have the same situation as Russia took some of our land(+people) after our re-independence.

  • @scrap222666 You are absolutely right, brother. There is no excuse for attacking Finland, even it was't a peace loving nation, but then again living next to power hungry Soviet state who could afford to be peace loving? no fuking body. And too right, Estonia is in the same mess with the aftermath of this shit. But never fear, we are in this together for are brothers.

  • I am from Poland and i understand Finnish people Russians after II world war stolen half of my country and in 1795 destroy with Germans and Austrians all Poland [ Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów ] Russians stolen Romania land "Besarabia" and Bukowina and annexed to Z.S.R.R.

  • Viva karelia!

  • Rusos ladrones, Karelia es 100% finlandesa.

  • Rakkaus ei tunne rajoja.

    Love knows no borders.

  • @CTPEJIOKXPEHOB sorry I dont understand your language I just speak spanish and a little of english, any way I just wanted to say that this is a very beautifull music ,One of the best composition & interpretation I ever heard, all the best from Mexico City.

  • @escagad Don't worry, you didn't miss out on anything. He basically said that Finns writing here don't know their history. Obviously, he doesn't understand their language; for, the posts below are full of proper knowledge of that history.

The song is about the longing of a Karelian, exiled from her home thanks to Russia's unprovoked and illegal invasion of Karelia on the 30.11.1939. Pain-filled words they are.

Btw, Russia (SU) was expelled from the League of Nation because of that invasion.

  • Karjala oli ennen sotia yksi Suomen parhaimmin toimeentulevista talousalueista.

Kantasuomalaiset ryöstivät jopa evakkojen kuormat parhaasta tavarasta, joten karjalaisille jäi tottumus kovaan työhön, käsien taitoihin ja Jumalan armoon.

Pullasorsakansa veneineen ja kesämökkeineen saisi herätä velkojensa keskeltä ja miettiä, miksi Suomen sodat itsenäisyyden puolesta käytiin ja mihin hintaan...

  • AHH - VIBORG -GO´E GAMLE VIBORG !

  • when i was a child my grandmother used to sing this to me.. now it bring tears in my eyes, she missed her lost home so much..never saw it again while she was life, i hope only that now she can walk on the shores of Laatokka again.

  • @dazede same here bru, exactly same. I was born a Karelian, and will remain one. forever. And so will my children.

  • Kaunista

  • i read from somewhere that russsian kirillitza (russian alphabet) are mixed of karelian alphabets and latins......

  • Monika, you are welcome to try, come and get it...

  • @RussianKostya It would be piece of cake.

But we wont even waste our bullets on you, you dont deserve that, you are cheaper.

  • @CSSFusi attack with the fishing rods you will:) finnish zombies...

  • @CSSFusi down! down! fkn finn , cheap cunt

  • @CSSFusi NEXT YEAR IN KARELIA!!! (with all the foreigners there now gone forever).

  • @CSSFusi Also, don't be surprised if the sons of the murderers and robbers come to the house of mourning and remembrance. After all, they are a product of the system that gave birth to Stalin, Beria, Andropov, and the Plutonium Ali. Once again, peaceful demonstrators are being beaten up in the streets of Moscow. Darkness is slowly descending on the world's largest nation.

  • Actually, it's not so hard to get Karelia back. russians are weak and stupid pieces of shit - if their leaders putin and medvedev will be killed - you can easily take back Karjala and get rid of russians there. I know a lot of russians pretty well so I know that they have no strong army now.

  • Borders are not forever...it will come the day that vyborg will become again Viipuri, Karelia will come back ro Finland again.

  • Well put. Second the sentiments. All it takes is some conscience and sense rightness. Another Gorby.

  • Kaunis laulu; hyvin laulettu. Tunne välityy hyvin.

  • alunperin suomensukusia kansoja oli mustalla merellä asti. 800-luvulla tms. venäläiset sitte hiljoskellen työnsi suomalaiset yhä syrjemmäs, kunnes nykyään ollaan joensuun ym. tienoilla. toivottavasti saajaan pitää tää viimenen kaistale

  • My mother is Finnish and Karelien and has papers that her family has lived and own their lands since 1540 in Karelien, That is why we like to think Karelien is part of Finnland. Sorry, but we only like that someone in Russland addmits it. we don't like take back.

  • I admit it... I apologize to and sympathize with Karelian-Finns! I wish I could move the history back and change minds of russian governors!

  • Russians have done it not only with Finns, but with Russians too... it sounds odd, but its true... and its very pity. Nevertheless I like russian people (I am Ukrainian). Surely we cannot forget the terrible deeds of russian government, but we can be Friends with a russian folk now and I hope the war comes no more to us and noone´s blood will be shed forever. (my english is not so gut, I hope you understend ma message)

    Regards,

    Natalija

  • yeah. and dutch people are germans.

    stupid

  • Yeah and Canadians are Americans... Very stupid thinking.

  • Nope... They are Ukrains..

  • "Surely we cannot forget the terrible deeds of russian government"

He-he, I think you forgot that both Soviet leaders Khruschev and Brezhnev were Ukrainians and why most of Ukraianians still prefer to work and live in "bad" Russia than in a "progressive" Ukraine?

  • I don´t think Ukraine is "progressive" and Russia is "bad" (I agree, it is terrible what Russia made to Korrelians and I wish there were any wars in the world, but it seems to be unachievable till peaple hate each other)

You can even not imagine what Germans´ve done to us and Russians. They have not only turned peaple out of their houses, they killed them, including little children. Should I hate German? The answer is - No!

  • The very sentiments I was going to scribble here - somebody beat me to it.

Learned yesterday, there was only one person left in Vyborg when russians arrived there. This morning, it came to me how people must've felt in taking a last look around before leaving. Leaving from the house they'd lived their lives, raised their families...to live grief-stricken in exile away from MY home, someone else now occupied. To them "tuonen viita" is "onnen viita"

Any Russian reading - be deeply ashamed!!!!!!

  • As the honourable Finn I am, I can do nothing but to agree with that wonderful statement.

But we did the impossible, we are still alive.

  • @obuBBubo My mother in law , 88 years 13th september.

I´ll go to see her and let her hear this -

    music from her country.

I hope she still hears it...

  • @obuBBubo I'm not ashamed.

  • @MyPopori You should, Pal. Your nation forced a half a million Finns out from the homes they had lived generations.

If I was in your boots, I would owe to past sins of my nation, and would do my utmost to put wrong right.

Apology would be a good starting point. Then become a good politician, and speak out: "My fellow Russians, our Great Nation has 22 000 000 sqkm2 to it, we don't need mere 35 000 sqkm2 we forcibly took from the Finns. Let's give it back to them! Da!"

  • @obuBBubo Back? =) come back after 1918 to Russia do you want? =) And then when the empire of chaos and disorder, the legitimacy of their independence proclaimed areas is very doubtful. although this is to some extent a joke but having the truth. Only apologize for the fact that Alexander I gave you this land, which resulted in such an injustice in the another time. I hope this is the last and only an embarrassment.

  • I miss my grandparents.. they both lived in Karjala.. and both were forced to leave. the pain in their voice and in their eyes when they told the beauty of Laatokka is never going to leave from my heart. Karjala ei kuulu venäjälle!!

  • Mie tiiän tasan tarkkaa missä miun äitini kotitalo oli Viipurissa.

Hän joutui 10.v. kävelemään pommitusten alla lähes Lappeenrantaan saakk Viipurista. Ja sen jälkeen ei mikään enää pelota!

  • Viipuri is not, nor has it ever been and shall never be a Russian city. It may be occupied, enslaved and oppressed but it will always remain finnish. And we all, finns and russkis alike, know that.

  • @Ptuutti Vyborg/Viipuri, was founded as a proper fortification/fortress by the Swedes in 1293 after they took it from the locals that paid tribute to Novgorod. Russian merchants and local Finnish tribe 'Karela' held a trading outpost here since the 11th century. According to Tatishchev's 'Joakim' chronicle the place was founded in the 9th century by the Novgorodian chieftains, but historians and archeologists are still debating whether it is true or not.

  • @RussianKostya Viipuri was founded swedesh during crusade in 1293 as you said but it was a karelian village (fortress) before that. It's true that it was under Novgorod rule from 1270 when prince Dimitri got it. Still it's not changing the fact that its karelian land. If you are trying to tell me that russian people got it before karelian people and they have right to be there before finns --> karelians. Not true at all.

  • @tupakki I have to agree with you. there was very few russian-speaking people in Karelia when it was a part of Sweden atleast.

  • @CTPEJIOKXPEHOB jumala antaa anteeksi suomalainen ei!

  • @RussianKostya

It's quite close to truth. Karelians and Votes were initially allied with Novgorod when they fought against Swedes. Novgorod was founded as a coalition of Finnic and Slavic tribes. I think it's more correct to say that even with Swedish occupation and renaming (Vyborg) area stayed Karelian.

  • @ladoga

As I allready wrote, our State history started allready 650 years ago when king Hakon get us right to vote new king. We are not slavic. By the way, we are not finnic, we are finnish. Vyborg is our families town, still.

  • @RussianKostya

As you probably noticed we have our share nationalist fanatics too. ;) Without them it would be lot easier to live as neigbours.

  • @ladoga thank you for your comment - i personally believe that with our overpopulation, climate problems and diminishing natural resources proper nation-states and nationalism are not economically or politically viable anyways. Two great wars should have proven the point a long time ago, parts of the world are still hiccupping from them as some of the comments demonstrate, that includes Russia:)

  • @ladoga

I agree Your opinion. Before war we were living in peace. But it was that time before revolution 1917. We Karelians are very happy to be finnish once again. We dont belong to russian, we belong to our old land Finland and Sweden. Our freedom started allready 650 years ago, when king Hakon get us right to wote new king. Our freedom is old and it belongs to history of sweden.

  • @Ptuutti Viipurin ruotsalainen linnoitus!

  • @Ptuutti Viipuri oli ja Viipuri meni.

Enkä mie halua sitä enää takaisin nykyisessä kunnossa.

  • It should've read: "An old Karelian fortress existed..."

Also, "belong", as in "not belonging in a physical sense" (due to illegal occupation); for, in ethical and moral sense that belonging is unbroken.

Houses can be burned down and people removed, but the place - KARELIA - where mothers "tuuditti mua kehdossain" will remain for ever.

Exiles and descendants of exiles will always say "NEXT YEAR IN KARELIA!"

  • History tells otherwise but.

An old Karelian fortress by the "Vuoksi River" (notice the name) long before "Vyborg" (notice the language - Det var en gong en kung i hans borg), Swedish fortress was founded.

Old Finnish Kingdom and Karelians reach far back into a misty past. The language the inhabitants spoke around camp fires, and in their huts was neither Swedish nor Russian.

    "Vaka vanha Vainamoinen"

  • Poor Ninotchkawhatever. None of Karjala has not ever been "Russian" , borders have been here and there. Why. Because it has been inhabited by Finns, Karelians and other tribes for +10000 yrs. There were no "Russians". Like Northern and Central Russia and and and. You are occupying Finnish land illegally according to all international laws. It is an ongoing CRIME. The land is mine also.

  • @Ninotchka1973

  • "Take" what..???. Sorry, but there's nothing to "take", or to "understand". Your "argument" is INVALID from start to finish.

    I understand alright:

    a) your father stole my horse

    b) now you're saying, that because

    - your father was a big fella

    - that stealing happened so long ago

    - that because you've RENAMED and used the horse (filled Karelia with Russians); the horse is yours.

Sorry, you son of the horse thief, KARELIA will NEVER be yours!!

As the Russians came in, they will go out.

  • Like the father, so the son.

And I was so hoping that you would see the light, and confess your father's crime here.

Well, no mater SoHt; know this however, the soil you walk on, the air you breathe in, stuff your hands touch, and the scenery you eyes see ain't yours.

Karelia was and IS Finnish territory. Therefore, you should compensate to its rightful owners for all the damage you've caused there. Pay up and vamoose!

    NEXT YEAR IN KARELIA!!

  • Sure. Just like Estonians do. What crap. Russia and freedom are mutually exclusive.

Roads were filled with those escaping from tyranny.

"The evacuation of Karelia was a great crime against humanity."

"Russia is still a colonial power in an era when most countries have given up their colonies."

    Give back the horse fella.

    NEXT YEAR IN KARELIA!!

  • Quote:

"Russia is still a colonial power in an era when most countries have given up their colonies"

So do I, Soht (son of the horse thief). So do I.

It's time to give up one more illegally occupied colony - Karelia.

  • Lol, most cases are not that complicated.

Almost all of Karelia (see the map above) belonged to Finland, and consequently, Karelians are Finns.

Moreover, they are Finns due to their Ugaric blood-line, language, and historical background. Whereas, Russians are Slavs and newcomers to the area.

There is no such thing as "Russian Karelia". Let's call what it is - an illegal occupation of other nation's land. No fabrication of history will alter that.

    NEXT YEAR IN KARELIA!!

  • Firstly, DEMOCRACY and INDIVIDUALITY insist in their RIGHT TO REFUSE. Full stop. No further discussion. Go away.

The good mannered go away; thieves come back at night.

Refusal DOES NOT lend right to THIEVERY!!

Before Swedes and Russians, Finnish tribes formed a free nation; Karelia was a part of that nation.

Finland gained its own freedom, against Russians and traitors wearing red.

What oblivion - want to have a bloody nose again, eh?

Give back the horse, fella. It's NOT yours.

  • Yes it is took by force sad, but first we offered exchange. Independent nation, who give you independent. I respect Finland but it's always sad when old friend consign to oblivion

  • Comment removed

  • NOT true zornstern!!

In 1939 Russia wanted a part of an INDEPENDENT NATION, and when it didn't get its way it took it by force.

That was then, you might say. Wrong again.

If a horse thief STEALS a horse, and passes it on to his sons at death; the horse still belongs to its ORIGINAL OWNER!!

The horse will NEVER rightfully belong to sons of the horse thief.

Karelia WILL NEVER! belong to Russians.

The horse thief should return Karelia back to its rightful owners, the Finns.

  • vitun ryssät karjala takasi!

  • Karelia is Finland

    La Carélie est Finlande

    Carelia è Finlandia

    Karelia es Finlandia

  • Karelia it's just place some part in Russia some part in Suomi

  • Wrong Zornstern.

Say, if your neighbor fences off a part of YOUR backyard, does that part of YOUR back yard to belong to him because of the new fence line??

    Of course not!!

Further, what would you say to your neighbor if he came to you and said:

"Some of YOUR backyard belongs to ME, and some to you.

Let me guess....you would say to him: YOU LIAR!! ! GET OFF MY BACKYARD YOU THIEF!! The backyard is MINE AND MINE ALONE!!

  • That's true. My family is originally from Karelia, but still I can' t tell if they're Finnish/Karelian/ Russian... 'cos they're it all!

  • "That's true, etc..."

    Actually, NOT so; for:

    Karelia belongs to Finns.

    As for nationality:

Karelians are Finns, as Texans are Americans.

Q: If a Mexican emigrant to Texas moved to NY, what would he be?

    A: Mexican American.

Q: If a Russian emigrat to Karelia moved to Tampere, what would he be?

    A: Russian Finn (lol)

  • It is a beautiful piece; calm but angry

  • Comment removed

  • An awesome song! But too much vibrato in some parts :(

  • We are funding the plant to clean up your mess.

  • We also do not occupy Russian land at the moment and we do shit to the Baltic Sea.

  • God knows everything and judges everyone. No one will avoid his destiny, not Russians, not Swedes and not Finns.

  • I would not like to be a WWII Russian Partisan on a judgement day, if so.

  • Would you prefer to be a warden in Miehikkelä?

  • No. There are Finnish Frontier Guards and I trust them 100%. Finland would not act the same. No. No Finnish Commander would have let troops behind the lines to kill civilians like Russians in Finland. It is called moral and honour.

  • Thank you,

I served as a Finnish Border Guard for 15 yrs. Nice to read that there was trust - it is my humble view that it was deserved.

    Kiitos tosiaan - MR

  • Somebody thinks that a state like Russia can allow foreign army in 20 km of its second main city? Karelia was doomed since Finnish independence. Which doesn't lessen my respect to its defenders.

    Olen kotoisin Pietarista.

  • yes world was/is a fucked up place

  • The lands belong to the Finns. It does not matter where the border is at the moment. Karjala is prosperious with it's owners and it will be. State like Russia is nothing to mention, you have serious problems and you might fall in a day as a nation.

  • The lands belong to God who peoples it with whatever people according to His will. Disrespect to other states and nations is not the way to gain respect for your own one. And if you know a state without problems, just you name it.

  • God knows how the land has been taken. With rapes of civilians, distruction and death. There is disrespect as long as there is a nation who does not correct it's afrocities by acknowliging the international laws. According to the international agreements the land and property belongs to the Finns.

  • The soviets demanded to allow their army in 1km of Finlands capital (see what happened to Estona)! Finlands second main city was in Karelia. 1939 Winter war, Soviet agressions plan was to invade Finland complitely, but Finland was too big bite to eat, the soviets agression was a failure but 10% of Finnish land was oqupied and has never been returned (including the 2nd main city Vyborg). See The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocol.

  • The real question is would Finland act the same if Finland and Russia were to exchange their places? And there could be no rational answer to this question.

  • Finland was not under Dictatorship, Finland is the less corrupted country in the world, Finnish people are very stright to laws. So the answer is extremely simple NO!

  • Soviets plan was to invade Europe.

  • Of course they wouldn't. Men of honor don't throw hand grenades on sleeping women and children. BTW they did the same in Estonia as well. Shame ruski, Shame!! Dig it spechkin.

  • sorry man, but he thinked that German will attack from FInland.

  • lol, see The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocol (Invasion of finland was planned by Stalin and Hitler together).

  • Ah...now I see why someone called me an "idiot"--obviously because of this statement. Even if it's an opinion of history--so what?

  • lol, The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocol, Finland, Balticas and half of Poland was the soviets share in the nazi pact. Finland was the onlyone that was victorious fighting with population of 3.5milion. Why did slave they Baltics and Poland? 1941 Stalin asked from Hitler permission to attack Finland again, why since they allready had Karelia???!

  • AINA HANGOSTA PEETSAMOON!

  • No, it wasn't that poor before the war, actually Värtsilä's industry was very important to rest of the Finland.

  • Karjala was not poor - "Child of poor Carelia"- the name of the song means time after the war, but never before of it...

  • Actually Russians have our blood according to research. True.

  • But we dont have theirs :D

  • It's all "geopolitics" =(... really sad when big politicians re-tailoring borders, and simple people even didn't taken into consideration. In fact, I am against any state borders at all.

  • Hey, nobody here says that Finno-Ugric is Russian. Just try to not think politically, talking about culture and ancient history is much better for brains. I just said that Russians (especially at the north) have Finnish and Ugric part in their blood and culture (indeed, there is nothing to do with Putin).

  • Greetings Ruostissa! I am half finnish! My grandmother lived in Karjala when the war started! This is a song for all those who left their homes in karjala!

    Love Suomi!

  • To Wilpuri24: Go away, you yourself!

  • Oh no, another Turanist?

  • It's forever))) be our land. but shame of our generals...

  • Not quilty.

Only idiot was Mannerheim. He had all news about Normandie. We had almost 6 days drew our boys to places be able to defend.

  • Answer to m1947m:

Mannerheim wasn't an idiot. He was a well educated aristocrate. We others may be stupid but he was'nt.

  • Answering to Svansakuten about G.G.E.Mannerheim.

1)He was a very educated aristocrate.

2)He was the Commanding Chief of Finnish Army.

3)He was 77 years old, when the russians attacted.

4)He was 77,when our parliament elected him as a President.

    5)You are right;we are stupid!?

  • Shame on you. But i forgive you, still in Russia you have Soviet history books somewhere that tell you lies. If I was Russian, I would address this thing immediately to my government - this puts whole Russia to shame, until it's solved.

    Ajatuksia?

  • Olen käynyt luovutetussa Karjalassa eli Sortavalassa, Jänisjärvellä yms. kun isoisäni on sieltä kotoisin. Kyllä on neukkulandia sekottanu koko paikan, sääliksi käy.

  • Wow, that is so beautiful. What is it about? And what language is this - Finnish or Karelian?

  • Finnish...It´s almost impossible to tell what this song is about. Karjala/Carelia was once part Finland and it was taken from us by the Russians during the WW2. This was the song that was played at my grandmothers funeral She was from Carelia (Viipuri)...

  • No, not impossible at all: Laps' olen köyhän, kauniin Karjalan, nyt vaikka vierahissa vaellan. Sinne, sinne kaipaan ain, missä kerran kehdon sain. Pois täältä kaipaan kotiin Karjalaan.
  • There is a 2nd verse, not sung here: Laps olen köyhän, kauniin Karjalan, vaan perinnön sain kaikkein kalleimman.
  • Finland once was the part of Sweden, and what? I love Finnish culture very much — songs, language. Maybe because of Russian blood is partially Finnish-Ugric too? ;-)

  • Tuli tippa linssiin.

  • Kuka laulaa tämän kappaleen?

    Kuvaa tuntojani täydellisesti!

  • Laulaja taitaa olla Anna Mutanen.

  • Ja Anna Mutasen laulamassa on nuo molemman "versiot", ainakin omalla jo vuosia vanhalla kasetilla. Pitäisi saada tänne se täys pitkä :) Mutta kiitos tästäkin. Omat tunteeni eivät kuohu mutta laulu on kaunis.
